  • The Cataract Gorge is located only a few minutes drive from Launceston's city centre. In summer it's a popular spot for swimmers and sun bathers but really it's a great place to come any time of year and features a number of fairly easy walks including a slightly longer trail to the historic Duck Reach power station (shown in this video).
    The South Esk River floods every one to two years and makes for quite spectacular viewing.

      Yes it’s a spectacle. Kind of wish I had of taken the chairlift now.

    Wait, this is where we say "nah, that's just the usual flow rate"!
    But nice footage in all, the mist gave an added dimension to the hills.
