- The experience of driving in Guangzhou is very unique, shuttling between modern buildings and traditional houses, constantly switching between modernity and tradition.
-------------------⭐⭐
About Guangzhou
-------------------⭐⭐
China’s third-largest city is the capital of Guangdong Province and a thriving commercial center. Its location on the Pearl River and proximity to Hong Kong has made Guangzhou a strategic port for centuries.
Glimpse old temples and gleaming steel towers on an architectural tour. Visit one of four Chimelong theme parks for thrills and chills. Once called Canton, Guangzhou is considered the home of traditional (read Cantonese) “Chinese food.” Foodies will find more restaurants per capita here than anywhere else in China.
-------------------⭐⭐
What is Guangzhou famous for?
-------------------⭐⭐
Situated on the Pearl River, Guangzhou has a maritime heritage stretching back over 2,000 years and its vast port is China's main transport and trading hub. It was also one of the starting points of the old Silk Road, a trading route that stretched across Asia.
-------------------⭐⭐
Why is Guangzhou so important to China?
-------------------⭐⭐
Because of its position at the meeting point of inland rivers and the sea, it has long been one of China's main commercial and trading centres.
It has served as a doorway for foreign influence since the 3rd century ce and was the first Chinese port to be regularly visited by European traders, who called it Canton.
-------------------⭐⭐
Why do people go to Guangzhou?
-------------------⭐⭐
The city is a thriving center of commerce and trade thanks to its location on the Pearl River. Guangzhou is also a cultural hotbed that is known for monuments like the spectacular Canton Tower and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Shishi Cathedral), the largest cathedral in Southeast Asia.
-------------------⭐⭐
Guangzhou is nothing less than a glittering metropolis containing centuries-old temples and shimmering skyscrapers. Here you will discover a fusion of old as well as new China. The capital of Guangdong province, Guangzhou has a rich history, vibrant commence, and picturesque natural scenery, making it an unforgettable travel destination.
Formerly known as Canton, today’s Guangzhou is one of China's most impressive urban centers, with a population of over 18 million. But there’s an ancient and historical side to this city too. Founded on the eastern bank of the Pearl River in 215 BC, Guangzhou had been a historic center of learning and a cradle of political activity (e.g., the Chinese Revolution of 1911-12). To this day, numerous notable Republic-era buildings remain standing, and some Guangzhou neighborhoods still retain the narrow alleys and old-world charms.
Located in the south-central part of Guangdong province, the main part of Guangzhou is near Baiyun Mountain on the eastern bank of the Pearl River. There are 10 districts in total, with Yuexiu and Liwan districts considered as Old City; Tianhe is the business district, with many attractions (Guangdong Museum and Opera House) and shopping malls. Around the center districts, visitors can find Haizhu district on the southern bank of the Pearl River; Panyu district, popular with tourists as its home to Lianhua Mountain and various theme parks.
Due to its subtropical climate, Guangzhou is blessed with flowers all year round. This earned it the nickname of "City of Flowers." The striking blooms are celebrated annually during the famous Spring Festival Flower Fair, when every street and alleyway is awash with vibrant colors. Other places of scenic natural settings include cherry blossom viewing in Huang Keng Cun Village in Huadu District, be surrounded by nature in Huangshan Forest Park, or admire the Million Sunflower Garden in Nansha District.
Traveling to and around Guangzhou couldn’t be easier. If you are flying to Guanzhou, Baiyun International Airport serves the city and the region. There are multiple transfer options between the airport and city center, such as the metro (Metro Line 3’s Airport South Metro station is located at the lower level of the airport terminal), airport express and shuttle bus (over a dozen routes to key locations in Guangzhou), and by taxi.

海珠橋 (see the three traditional characters at the start) is probably a good place to begin this video. Not so long ago in this historical city, when people had to cross the Pearl River here (or at other nearby crossings into or out of the city center) they called it 过海, “crossing the sea”. And rightly so, because people have been making this crossing since Guangzhou was literally at the edge of the ocean and the saying stuck, never mind that changes in the coastline/estuary over time have reduced the distance of the crossing to just a few hundred meters -- and there is no ocean in sight. This underlines the fact that Guangzhou was a top seaport (not a river port) in the world for centuries - perhaps since people started taking advantage of trade winds to conduct trading over long distances. To me the fact that 广交会 (the China Import and Export Fair) is held twice a year in Guangzhou reflects this monsoon trading pattern. Just a tidbit from the vast history behind the City of Guangzhou.
Thanks for your great sharing, bro
This is exactly the charm of the city of Guangzhou

Chinese was the richest country for more than 1000 years
3 hour car ride and no traffic jam, amazing city.
In Delhi I travelled 17km yesterday and it took me 90 mins.
Haha, sometimes it's the same in China
@@WalkEastIn India it's always the same. Each and every time.
This is the sunrise that's why you can't see so many cars and any traffic jam😂😂this is my home town i know everything about there😂😂
No traffic jam because they outlawed gas scooters so people are forced to take buses and mass transit unless they own a car.
Tokyo to Mt Fuji drive on here I watched had no traffic Jams amazing road network and the city and the volcano omg so beautiful❤
I learned about the name Guangzhou first time in 2010, due to Asian Games. Opening ceremony of that event was spectacular to watch on TV. I still believe China's opening ceremony of 2008 Olympics & 2010 Asian Games were the best ever for respective events history.
Wow, I love that opening ceremony too!❤👊
me too
soon you will know Hangzhou city😂
@@kinglee8160 Very soon
the Olympic Games 2008 opening and closing ceremonies set the bar too high that China couldn't reach again, so you can forget about other countries.
感谢你这几年不停地向我们展示国内各地的风貌,今年我终于可以回广州了!领取签证之前看到这个视频让我很激动,谢谢你!

The infrastructure is excellent, the buildings are magnificent, the city is well-organized, It must be a great man who built the city of GuangZhou
I agree that
Guangzhou is unwalkable and car-centric; it is not a real city.

I recently found out why the West, especially the United States, is crying 24 hours a day about China. Whatever happens, I am in full support of China and the Chinese.
👓
But why do they always cry about China?? What did China do to them??
@@harshitjoshi2871because China is threatening their USD and military hegemony. China also shows a different pathway to success through peaceful development rather than imperialism and colonialism. The US is in a position where they are either number one or in deep shit. And China is challenging their number one position which is unacceptable to them.
Because they don't want any other country to become equal and powerfull than them and china is giving them tough competition.@@harshitjoshi2871
@@harshitjoshi2871nothing😅 but what did US do to the world😢
The first time I went to Guangzhou is in 1993. It's backward and unsafe to walk in some parts of the city. The city changed a lot. It's a safe and well-planned modern city today.
Yes, changed a lot
30 years is not enough for further growth for sure.
i am watching this video from india but i love china country and i like china country very much i always watch chinese drama i like it very much ❤❤
China cities are nothing compares to Dehli. The world should prepare to see the fall of China and the next superpower India

I love Guangzhou!
I love you
Haha, full of love❤
It is crazy how China went from poverty to the richest country in just 30 years! If only other countries had cities like this.
Throughout its long history. China wasn't poor, it had always been two extremes=income inequality. what made China poor the past couple centuries was foreign invasions and reparations made to invading countries that made the country and people poor.
KMT emptied the treasury and museum when it fled to Taiwan. PR of China started out with barely anything.
Tiny Belgium used the reparation silver to build the Antwerp RR station
Singapore did it. South Korea did it. Now China has done it.
In China's case its a vast country, a would be largest economy by 2023 with a powerful military and a Communist government so the west is jittery.

England and USA got rich through smuggling opium and robbing China.
It just the ideas. Every country is rich. But the ideas is limitless.

Have fun!
Hello Max! Guangzhou, Guangzhou is a big business city in the south of China that does business to the whole world with high quality goods, large shopping malls and cultural parks! I am glad to see again a walk about the ancient city with a great history of Guangzhou, which is directed to the future. By the way, I wanted to ask you, how about placing a navigator in the left corner of the screen so that you can see how, while driving around the city by car, you could see on the map how your car is moving, I think this will be a good addition, unless of course it is technically too difficult will -!?? Thank you for visiting Guangzhou!!
Hello, my friend, again, you sent me a great comment!
Thanks for your suggestion and it's really technically too difficult for me😅
Good weekend!

The thing that amazes me about Guangzhou is the amount of new development under construction even though the city is already so fully developed.

Another beautiful city! I've been there before.Hoping to go next year to film for my own walking channel.

Wow, beautiful ride and city with incredible skyscrapers.
By the way, I noted during the video a lots of camera on the road, I'm wrong? This amount of cameras are just for speed limits or what?
You're right about the cameras.
For peace of the city
@@WalkEast "Peace of City" is it to spy on one's own citizens in whatever they do? Quite a weird concept of Pace, very Chinese. It's a real shame, it is a very beautiful and modern country
