    Dave had a similar call and told the person who called that he can't give them the motivation and can't help them. They have to help themselves by getting serious. I think he ended the call shortly. I was stunned. But I get it - if the caller isn't motivated, you're just repeating things they know or will never do as long as they're not motivated.
    Dave's advice works when people reach that sick and tired of being sick and tired moment.

    One of the things that really helped us stick to our grocery budget and stop eating out was by slightly increasing our grocery budget to enable us to buy a few added extras that could go with our meals to make them more interesting. You were looking at an increase of $10-$15 as opposed to an extra $60 plus every time you eat out. The next thing I did was get together about 10 different meals that could be cooked within a 20 minute time frame. It would take you that long to get ready to go out for a meal.

    • @cmauro7912

      Solutions are great. Thanks for the ideas. People with focus deficiency need a low Histamine meal plan. They need to know if their B6, folic acid, B12 are in balance, as well as zinc, iron, D and much more. They don't absorb some of these and thus their brain makes more impulsive Meal arrangements. Neurodiversity and Emergency Responders can go hand in hand and most times they marry another person with the same brain type. Thus both are disadvantaged and succumb to temptation of eating out because their brain is tired. Meal prepping and storage in the fridge can increase histamines so that too is not a known fact and turning to it can make them slower at functioning in home decisions as a brain not fed on time can increase forgetfulness, change mood states, and more.There are genes involved that can't break down histamines in the brain. It's a vicious circle when you don't know how to manage your house to be able to make the meals in a timely fashion and to store one's energy which is at 75% on battery power of a non ADHD person at the end of a days work. Planning is the one gene we don't have. It'd be nice if we either get our bodies and mind in a balanced state and then learn skills to get a 2 week Meal Ideas plan so we can have diversity each week.

    It’s definitely a behavioral issue and by choice to not follow the plan. I have been budgeting for three years and every time payday comes around I’m excited and look forward to budgeting and saving because it will give me a peace of mind knowing that my finances are being taken cared of.. that’s the goal of budgeting is peace! This woman doesn’t want to wait around until catastrophe strikes and THEN starts budgeting because of a hardship, but unfortunately that’s what kicks peoples butts and will learn their lesson is when disaster strikes.

    Put cash in envelopes for each budget category each month. You will quickly see which category runs out. Evaluate and adjust. I had problem with budgets because of all the unplanned expenses that would come up. The trip to the hardware store or running to the supermarket. So I made my budget then had a generic spending bucket for whenever I used my debit card. Still struggled until I tracked that category in a spreadsheet on my phone. Found I was spending $600 for a $200 bucket. Now I track it through the month and adjust. You have to find the method that works for your situation. Now I'm down to less than $500 from a $725 bucket. And the extra is saved every month.

    Sure the RV might be a luxury but Ken jumped right to "first thing is we sell the RV". Well, there is no "we" there it's the caller's property, and he should have premised that on "is the RV something that you think you get good value from? How do you use it?" etc. Also assuming that the photo business is just a hobby and not actually bringing in some actual income. They just lectured to her and I don't think she's going to change her behaviors based on this call.

    Just because your income goes up doesnt mean your expenses need too. You get just enough money to afford payments on an rv and a nice car and house so you go out and get loans for all these things then end up in so much debt you cant pay it off when your making enough you should be able to but ya cant cause you wanted the brand new car and some toys

    Make $200k no debt except mortgage and $1.1Million in Fidelity account, not paying off my mortgage that is at 2.25% rate…stupid, Dave would say to do so but the math is simple and wouldn’t make sense

    • @bradzeigler
      @bradzeigler Год назад

      Im sure the banks would love you to pay off a low rate loan like that. I'm in the same boat with a 2.5% mortgage with 12 years left on a 15 year fixed. Instead of paying it off I opened a HYS account and funded it to the same amount as the balance of the loan. The savings account is earning 4.21% paying off the low interest mortgage.
      I'm sure Dave would say it's still bad to owe many to a bank, but I'd argue the bank owes me too so we're even, and I'm making a margin on top.

      Depends on how close you are to retirement, except that with that amnt in you retirement account, it hardly matters. People who don't have that kind of money saved and are nearing retirement, it is key to having your house paid off.
