Answer: Yes. Even if you hate the prequels you at least have to admit they never ruined anything from the original trilogy. In fact they actually added more to the lore. The sequels just took a huge dump on the franchise.

Dante Caudillo a lot of people felt that knowing Anakin acted like a whiny man child up until the final moments of Revenge of the Sith kind of ruined Darth Vader for them. Some people felt that Yoda doing acrobatics and fighting with a lightsaber ruined that character. A lot of people felt midichlorians ruined the very idea of the force. I don’t agree any of that “ruined” anything, but what you’re saying here is blatantly incorrect from the points of view of many people.

He was born on a desert planet and was a slave and only had his mom to talk to and then he is taken by some strangers who turn out to be Jedi to train him and the Council forbid Jedi from showing emotions so Anakin didn't really know how to properly show his emotions so all he could was whine. Yoda doing acrobatics and backflips and having a lightsaber doesn't ruin his character. This was in a different era than from the originals when there were thousands of Jedi so he had to have a lightsaber. In the originals there was simply no need for Yoda to have a lightsaber. Midichlorians are so misunderstood. They aren't the force. There simply a way to measure force sensitivity. Nothing more nothing less. It explains why not anyone can just become a Jedi or a Sith.

A Talking Koala I just take Disney Star Wars as what it is. A good marvel movie/Star Wars original rip off lol, a terrible marvel movie, and an ok marvel movie w/ palpatine who makes it better when you set everything aside just seeing him in the movie. ROGUE ONE is the only Disney Star Wars movie that was done with care and thought for the trilogies.

In the other side WorldofGeekdom talks too much and you start saying that you were THE FIRST youtuber saying that TLJ was a bad movie (you must visit more youtuber channels, many people trash TLJ in the moment of the premiere and you cant say you were the unique and only one in that moment), I want to listen more of "Dash" opinion, he is a real fan and its a honest voice in the fan community..
For me no. Star Wars will never be ruined for me unless there will never be anything good from Star Wars again. People have said that Lucas, Ewoks, and now Disney have ruined it but for me it’s never been ruined. Especially since I liked rogue one, force awakens and we have the Mandalorian, clone wars coming back and fallen order and all the memories I’ve had with the franchise isn’t gonna change. If it’s ruined for others that’s fine cause Disney and Kathleen have fucked up bad trust me I’ve had a similar feeling with transformers and the DCEU I get it but for me it hasn’t.

Did Disney Ruin Star Wars? Kind of. It’s easy to hate the ST but really the issue is how they handled the OT characters. Beyond the lore contradictions, world building issues etc. the real reason why so many people despise these movies is because the original trilogy characters‘s were treated like crap and used at steppingstones for the newer characters. And that’s not good. It’s one thing to say they all failed which is dumb but Disney failed in the passing of the torch. Rather they took the torch, blew it out and reignited the flame and want to call it their own. That to me is the most insulting thing they’ve done with the trilogy.
I wouldn't even mind if they treated the OT characters like this if they actually continued the story, etablished the state of the galaxy, created something original and showed respect to Lucas' legacy (1-6!).

Honestly I wouldn't say it's dead (considering how Disney likes milking intellectual properties) but in terms of being of quality and being respected, I think those days are over.
Disney's star wars was doomed the moment they threw out the EU, like Disney couldve done so much to expose these stories the the majority normie movie going audience, but no. They threw it out the window and then Disney complains about the lack of source material.

I agree with a lot of this. However my buddy constantly says how can you expect Disney to look at this in any other way than a business? They don’t care about the fans, they just want to push the new stories that contain their social agenda onto young generations of people. It’s not 90’s Disney anymore.

There was no excuse for why we did not get to see Luke be a total badass and train Rey (a paplatine ) to take down his own evil nephew (a skywalker) who is getting trained by palatine... how hard was that?? I grew up watching Star Wars episode 1-6 (and yes the 4-6 that I watched were the special editions, but as a kid I never knew that till years later) and loved them, yeah the special made a lot of dumb changes like the whole Han shot first, that stupid musical bit with the aliens in Jabba’s palace and making Aniken Skywalker’s force ghost young and leaving Obi-wan and Yoda old (which as a kid I didn’t think much on until I was older and thought that was fucking stupid) while these changes were retarded they were still fun movies and in my eyes the Star Wars sequel trilogy may have ruined the brand, the whole chosen one storyline and the end of ROTJ but they didn’t ruin my childhood. They could've stopped wanking the skywalker family and actually combined what made the original great (writing and character development) and the prequels (pacing, sabre fighting). Rolled that into a rogue 1 styled sequel.
TFA: could focus on the origins of rey being palps granddaughter. Fin being kin to mace windu. Both being trained by luke. Kylo ren being competent and snoke being his own man.
TLJ: could've been movie 9 lol. But instead of lame kylo killing snoke. Palpatine kills snoke. By absorbing all of his lifeforce. Winning what was shown in the ending of RoS. Ultimately, killing luke in a self sacrifice situation.
RoS: could pick up about 6-months to a yr from the last ending. Rey is still missing/or believed dead. Fin has been honing his skills with leia and communing with mace windu on how to master vaapad and defeat evil. Meanwhile palpatine is strong as he's ever been. Putting a stronghold on the galaxy. Rey is discovered to have been training/saved by ahsoka tano. Who has become like a guardian of time. Training rey on mastering the evil in her blood.
Yes, I remember that Andy Serkis said Snoke was stronger than Palpatine. He gave interviews and he said he knew Snoke's backstory. He also said Snoke's story was about to change the whole context of Star Wars. That was a hint that Palpatine was only a puppet of the dark side of the Force. I believe, J.J. Abrams set up a whole game-changing idea for Snoke what was ruined by Rian Johnson.

When it comes to light saber battles? They dropped the ball almost everywhere except the cinematography/effects. The movies LOOK good and thats it. Every thing, literally everything else is terribly made/written. Almost like the director was 7 years old or something.
Come on man. Original trilogy was good but in the end it was pg rated movies for kids. Last Star Wars movie we have seen was RotS. It was dark and sad movie and all prequel plots make impact on OT plots further and makes them awesome. They are DLC, really? When you start with episode 4 you don't know anything about who Vader is or Emperor is or why Empire reigns on the galaxy or how the force was capable of or anything. I'm sorry man but then when Disney shoots episode 7 and come up with First Order bullshit why do you make fuss about it or any other movies in this trilogy. Same constructions just like OT movies. They don't explain any specific questions just like OT when you think about it. Because character arcs are not complete? In story short I believe Disney made these garbage - 10 year old girl can like - movies because of the fans who think anything aside from OT are DLCs.

The prequels are not that bad man, do they have their issues? Of course they have bad pacing, and somethings are questionable. But that attitude is why George Lucas sold it, you're not attacking him like others, but you never see the good in the movies.

They may have lost a lot of fans and given us a disappointing continuation of the original films but I believe that they have proven that they can do some good things. Most of the big sponsored channels (Collider) were like, “Yeah, Last Jedi’s great.”
Then smaller channels like this had similar problems with it that I had.

Not all the stuff Disney has made has been trash. The force awakens was okay rogue one is one the best Star Wars films with one of the greatest scenes in Star Wars history. The mandalorian has been excellent. The Jedi fallen order game is awesome. Let’s not act like Disney has destroyed it yet. They fucked up the Skywalker saga big time but it hasn’t been terrible

As for what Disney should have done. They should have done R1 and Mandalorian first. They needed to take the time to plan out the ST first. And not rush all their moves out on such tight schedules. Seriously every SWs movie had three years minimum for the next one. Kennedy rushed them out and combined with poorly writing it is where we are now.

I love your opinions on Luke. I REALLY wanted to see Luke being badass post ROTJ. Like can you imagine seeing Luke traveling around the galaxy in his early adult years and in his prime. The *ONLY* thing the sequel trilogy *ruined* was *the sequel trilogy* - as far as I'm concerned, there *IS NO* sequel trilogy...the *Star Wars franchise *WILL* endure these insufferably atrocious movies and *IF WE'RE FORTUNATE/LUCKY ENOUGH* , the time will come when:
1. *ALL* of the *Star Wars EU material* will become canon, once again !!
2. *George Lucas* will be at the helm, once again !!
3. We will get a *PROPERLY WRITTEN* sequel trilogy !!

It’s obvious that Disney CAN do Star Wars as the Manadalorian shows. However, it is very clear that they can only do it WHEN THE LEADERSHIP IS GOOD. Kathleen Kennedy is not the right person to be leading Star Wars. She needs to go and there’s no way to slice it that the leadership completely ruined the sequel trilogy. However, I don’t think they ruined Star Wars. If they had ruined Star Wars, I wouldn’t want to watch the OT and Prequels. You want to know what ending completely ruined something? Game of thrones. To me, I no longer consider the sequel trilogy canon. And I can live with that because the original trilogy ends and there’s an entire continuation to that story that I DO CONSIDER CANON.

Absolutely no plan or road map for their trilogy, they betrayed George and us true fans alike. Kids and adults alike dont care about new Star Wars, the Merch and Toys arent selling. The movie is down 72% in the second weekend and might not even crack a billion in revenue. You guys tell me, honestly. If this isnt the biggest cinematic bomb and what the fuck happened moment in movie history than what is?!?!?
If star wars didnt exist and they created this for us to see for the first time I would be hard pressed to see how anyone would enjoy this or like it. The films make no sense. Episode 7 is a carbon copy, Episode 8 is a disaster and Episode 9 that tried to pick up the pieces and just flung a bunch of FX and fast paced action scenes from a fetch quest into A SERIES FINISHING MOVIE. Take that in folks, Star Wars! Thats what we got, its shameful.

I don’t think they RUINED Star Wars but they dented it i love the mandolorin and I liked force awakens it’s not my favorite but I liked it. rouge one has grown on me. solo was actually really good I think. and the first and expensively the final arc in clones wars season where amazing. But... I HATED episode 8 I DONT EVEN REMEMBER WHAT ITS CALLED and I can name dozens of clones. ALSO episode 8 ruined Finn and he WAS my favorite character in force awakens and rose did not need to be a character in stead of rose teach Finn war is bad Finn should have helped Poe learn war is bad . also remember the broom kid what happened to him Disney just left that storyline I was hoping to see him learn to be a Jedi. The rise of sky walker was an ok movie but a HORRIBLE finale movie and ya palpitat was cool to see but we didn’t need him in the story I think smoke was a cool villain but no we need o make the audience go “oh hey. I know him” and that’s it not for the story for the old fans. But in the end there is some good and some bad but the good out ways the bad I think. Sorry for going on a rant.
Here's the thing about Disney and Star Wars: no matter how bad it gets, Star Wars can't really be ruined. If you don't like what Disney puts out, there's literally nothing that's preventing you from rejecting it as the true canon. Even after Disney's terrible terrible trilogy I don't consider Star Wars to be ruined. Why? Because I don't consider Disney's trilogy to be the true sequel trilogy. They haven't treated the franchise with enough respect for the fans to even do them of the pleasure of even acknowledging their trilogy as being part of the Star Wars universe. Fan fiction with a large budget, that's what this trilogy was.
The real sequel trilogy is and will always be Zahn's Thrawn trilogy. Han and Leia's children will always be Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo. Mara Jade will always be Luke's wife. Luke will always be the hero who tries to redeem fallen characters, rather than kill them. And I know there are many many many people out there who feel the exact same way. The closest thing Disney can do to ruin Star Wars for me personally is if they halt production on the old EU books.
And if this method of thinking requires that content like Fallen Order and The Mandalorian are no longer canon in my eyes, then so be it. Have to break a few eggs. The loss of a couple good pieces of content is a great trade-off to thirty five years of memorable Expanded Universe content. Support the old Expanded Universe, people; the true canon of Star Wars.

Great discussion, guys. I found a lot to agree with in this video. If you got time, check out my recent reddit post regarding where the Star Wars franchise could go. Obviously, Lucasfilm probably won't take to my ideas, but I think the sequel trilogy has left things in a rather dubious place. The best course going forward, in my opinion, would be distancing future stories from the Skywalker saga. I don't think Star Wars could really be ruined forever, yet new material and creativity is needed to keep the franchise alive. Weren't Lord and Miller fired after TLJ came out, so WorldofGeekdom's comparison between Rian Johnson's situation and the Solo debacle is flawed. I think they were fired because Kennedy saw the backlash to TLJ and realized that she had given Rian too much control and took it back from Lord and Miller on Solo.
There are only two things that have come from Disney Star Wars that I have genuinely enjoyed. Them being the mandalorian, and Jedi fallen order. That is it! Everything else is complete BULLSHIT. They screwed up when they killed the EU, they screwed when they canceled the clone wars. And then they insult the fans and call us sexist, raciest, man babies and everything else under the sun. It’s all a mess.
30:50 TLJ as the best Star Wars movie is a surprisingly popular opinion, and I can't imagine how anyone could possibly justify that in the face of all the criticism peoples have levied against it. Part of me suspects it's an identity politics thing, since so many people love to bring that up as a reason why it's good and the reason why anyone who dislikes it is sexist and racist.
What is this bad Legends Content you speak of? Name 3 bad EU books. Scratch that name one worse than these Sequel movies. I feel the most bland Legends book or comic has more soul in it than these new movies.
Legends is literally the most badass and deep lore building content. Look at the True Sequels being Dark Empire and Legacy. Also everyone talks about the Old Republic, its perfect Star Wars not this bland crap from the movies we have now.

Well what they should do is just give Star Wars movies a break for a couple of years and then hire maybe some of the people that work on the MCU movies like the directors and writers for the infinity war movies and the Avengers and have them transition to also working on Star Wars. Also they need to set the new Star Wars film in a different era in time so we can distance ourselves from the Skywalker Saga. I would love to see a new Trilogy be done in the Old Republic era or maybe a couple hundred years in the future where the Jedi are Bountiful again as well as the Sith
The best movie they made is Rogue one. I don't know why they wanted to go away from the Jedi like they did. It's a fantasy universe with fantasy fans, who loved the laser sword wielding wizards. We wanted more of those, not less. We wanted a new jedi order being led by Luke taking on the next threat to the galaxy. Instead we got crap.
What about what Universal did to jaws, and Jurassic Park😂? But nobody cares about that.

I've disliked and been slagging off disney star wars ever since they conned me into paying to see a remake of new hope. Right from the get go the series was awful. I never understood the praise force awakens got.

I originally didn't like the direction Disney was taking but after rewatching all the films i think they did ok. Still not a fan of Solo or episode 8 but the rest weren't as bad as i had initially thought. Still nothing beats the original trilogy.

And Disney can never be forgiven for what they did to Luke and Anakin

The only way in my opinion they can save Star Wars at this point is focusing on other characters, and replace Kathleen with someone who has read the books, watched the movies, and loves star wars.
They can fix this trilogy but in the form of an Animated TV show, let the tuy that did clone wars do it, have Abraham rewrite Last Jedi, and Rise of Skywalker so that they have cohesive source material, and let them retell it in their own way.
My favorites are the prequel’s. The latest movies are nowhere near as good LOL.

He literally says in TLJ that he came there to die though. And then in TROS you see that his xwing worked the entire time so he force projected and killed himself for no reason in TLJ
