+Dandvadan While that is true, according to the game's lore, the Moscow Metro was specifically built to double as a bunker in case of a nuclear fallout ;)
+Dandvadan According to the Universe Metro 2033 Project - books in the setting - peope survived also in some cities in Britain, Petersburg and the most interesting one - in Cracov in Poland where there is no metro to hide in it (they hide all in bomb shelters under Nowa Huta). The funny thing about that book that happens in Poland is that people are killing each other not with shotguns or assault rifles, like AK47 (well there is a faction that occupies Tadeusz Sendzimir Steelworks, which was a strategic place in Cracov so it had some goodies there, so they were well armed in modern weapons), but with fucking spears, bows, crossbows and muskets. Now THAT is a nice setting for a Metro game :D
I've been a bit out of the loop, but which one of the books is the one in that setting? Also, any general recommendations for Metro books to read, there are just so many of them.
Has nothing to do with ingame lore haha Stalin build them to act 1 as a bunker and secondly it was build in such a grand splendor it was to distract people about the fact they were being opressed.
Well, more precisely it would be "Американцы мертвы и всем плевать", because we don't say in Russian "никто не заботится" (well, maybe only if it's about a child with nobody to take care of him)
That was one of those small things in life that you can't help but enjoy. When Yahtzee critiques one of your favorite games and doesn't think it's absolutely terrible!
When Yahtzee said "Don't give this to a COD player, or they'll chew their own arms off". I got a funny feeling that's exactly what he'd want us to do with the game.
2:10 one of the major plot twists (and plotline for Last Light) was that D6 (the bunker everyone wants to get their hands on) was not built to sustain life, but to contain things that could eradicate it, specifically bioweapons (as seen in the book and Metro : Redux where they/you fight things right out of an HP. Lovecraft book), making the entire war poignant as people are lead to believe their future is at stake when really the higher-ups want to take control of the entire metro using the threat of absolute extermination. Hence why the new game is called Exodus, as they leave in search of a better place to stay and/or to contact other survivors.
I know he has a set of stock gun images he uses, but I find it ironic that for this review he gives a Russian protagonist an M-16, ostensibly the most "American" gun out there right now.
And the beginning, and the middle, and the snack break, and the outro, and the intro, and the great analogy of public transport, and the everything else I forgot to mention...
The shit in metro is depressing as fuck "Look dad I made a house" "That looks very nice son. I'm sure mommy would love it" "Yes dad we can all move into it and be happy! "I'm sure of it." "Dad when can we see mommy?" "Soon son. If only she could of seen how much you've grown"
PS, for fuck sake Yahtzee. Research! The Moscow underground was 1 of the only metro systems to be built to resist nuclear war. Another example would be Norads entry tunnel. Now note the difference in ideas of who should be protected in a nuclear war:/
+NoName Needed 1 of... ie a very low statiscal number of metro systems built by humanity are mass nuking of the world proof and talk about missing my point. Is Norad 1 of the few nuke proof installations built by the yanks? Yes. Is it and most of their nuke shelters exclusively military and political access only. Yes. Now look at how the Russians did it and view my comment through ideological eyes.
+Gen Ohmni It's really more of a funding issue and difference in government effectiveness. Less civil liberty means more shit can actually get done (when the system isn't seized by corruption, at least).
I too got stuck on the final climatic mission. It was not at all obvious that you had to shoot the tank wheels before it's weak spot. I don't understand how no QA tester got stuck on that.
This is one of the few game series that still terrifies me when I replay it. Those freaking sections with the spider/scorpion things rushing onto you and your flashlight keeps getting dimmer and dimmer as more and more start crawling around. Then there was that section in Metro 2033 called The Library. A sense of dread comes over me every single time I think of that place. Plus, the AI is questionable at times because sometimes they will still attack you when you're standing still and staring them down.
+Shaun Friden Metro 2033 was terrifying, but Last Light made the mistake of shoving literal piles of ammo at you. I played it on Ranger Hardcore / Survival, and spent the entire game being pretty much capped on all ammo types. As Yatzee said in another review: It's very hard to feel threatened by monsters if you got enough weapons and ammo to blow the all to Narnia. Shame, really, I liked the tension in Metro 2033.
+Shaun Friden the Librarians are supposed to stare at you until you look away or attack. One of the other rangers told you this before you go into the basement.
At 4:50 I just died laughing from the sign in Russian. You can see google translate gone wrong. What you wanted to say was: "Americans are dead, nobody cares". What you got was: "Americans are dead, nobody afflicts for them".
What bothers me, even though it doesn't really matter, is that in Metro 2033, my favorite book even above Ender's Game, actually addresses all of the other metro systems like New York and Paris and England.
I'm not sure about London or Paris, but New York's subway would flood slowly after the power went out as the pumps that keep the water out would stop working.
Watched this for the first time after playing Last light. He hit the nail on the head with the train bit. The game never gives you direction on what to do when you need it.
It wasn't until I read this and took a closer look at the box art that I realized that that wasn't the actual name and that Yahtzee had pulled a "Kane and Lunch."
In days past i used to fall asleep while listening to some music or a good audiobook in low volume, nowadays i listen to yatzee before sleeping, subsequently i havnt slept in weeks.
The shooting in Metro is what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. should of had: My PRECIOUS bullet GO WHERE I POINT THEM, and there's no random bullshit bullet ballistics sending them swaying in the other direction when I point my gun at someone AT CLOSE RANGE
Zelousmarineinspace Flawed in what way? That the condition on the weapons had a little too much impact on accuracy? The S.T.A.L.K.E.R games have a very high dependancy upon the upgrade system, which in many ways is what makes the game stand out. But that means a low grade weapon with no upgrades and in severe need of repair will be really hard to do anything with.
The reason other metros aren't mentioned is actually said in the game, the first and second. The Moscow Underground was actually built as a giant fallout shelter, while other undergrounds, including those in other Russian cities, were not built to such a standard.
as a cod fan, i laughed so hard at the joke at the end. but seriously, they DO live there, you experience the reason why they dont live on the service, and with a bunch of assholes who, when they need eachothers the most to, for once NOT make the human race go *poof gone, they have no where else to go except for the little stations, though i get your point.
StillGotShit4Brains that i find the COD joke fitting and funny as a fan of the series. also that there is a clear reason that you see and get to experience as to why everybody decided to live in the metro tunnels/stations.
Besides, Russians are hard boiled people, and this gritty setting is spectacular. Remember, METPO 2⃣0⃣3⃣3⃣ got bad review scores originally, because people played the game like Call of Duty, only to suffocate when their Gas Mask get's blown off. You can thank IGN for that. But Metro 2033 will always be one of the greatest things ever created and is a shining example why you shouldn't give up faith in humanity.... Yet
Frankly, I just loved the fact that the pre war ammo was currency; having several hundred rounds of corrosive and berdan primed 7.62x54R and 7.62x39, I can assure that times really are tough in the metro when the 'milsurp' is considered the good stuff.
I'm surprised that a game that has enough to recommend isn't on Yahtzee's Best Game of 2013 list. But then again, Arkham City is also one of those cases.
It's been a while since I last played so correct me if I'm wrong but with the tank, didn't shooting it's tracks cause the chassis to tilt slightly exposing the open top turret full of shells? I might be remembering that wrong but that's how I remember why we had to go for the tracks first. .
lol the i love the end "dont give this game to a modern warfare player, after a little while surrounded by ppl with foreign accents and they'll chew their arms off" XDD
I play Metro in Russian it give it a more realistic feel iv'e never played it in English and probably never will although he for got to mention the ridiculous jiggle physics they give to the boobs of trippers it looks like someone sewed ballistic geletin onto their chests and told them to jump around
the delay between being spotted and the alarm is great if you plan on killing little to no one..... especially if you have health packs a good set of legs and prey the e button does its job... or you know a melee only run
"...melee only run." Mic Mule, that is the most insane thing I think somebody could do in a Metro game. I can't imagine that it would even be possible come to think of it.
+Minh Duc Nguyen Or they could just make Stalker 2. Call of Pripyat may have been a turd, but was a step into the right direction - now they just need to do it porperly =)
@@bequanma This is an old comment but STALKER 2 is back on. Apparently they, GSC, have licensed the unreal engine for it so who knows what we will get although it should run better lol.
The only thing in my opinion that lacks from it being a 10/10 game is open world. And if you think about it, its not really hard to do. You don't have to do an open world outside, you can keep it linear, that is not the focus of the game but the metro itself? The thing is made out of tunnels, all you have to do is recreate the Moscow metro which is not hard, considering they already made a lot of the paths that are actually real. Then just makes different rooms and stuff and put some quests or something and Voila! You got yourself a spritual successor to Stalker and everyone is happy. I think devs got that planned in their next game, since this recieved pretty good reviews. I think their budget was holding them back, since they are a small team, but those graphics look amazing and the optimization is just lovely. So if they get everything together and release next game with a new charecter, open world Metro, fix the dialogues and voice acting, it would be perfect.
I think, given the size of the team and budget, Metro last lIght was the best game it could be, and even without open world (Which would be AMAZING) It gave you a lot of pathways.
Open world Metro would be terrible.. Stop trying to change good things into ones that don't fit them. This isn't Stalker. Even that wasn't really open world.
xSomeRandomGamer Did you read my comment? I said an open world in the tunnels. Just like the section where you get to ride the train car thing. A bunch of tunnels you can get around and explore new stations without being pushed in and out of them.
The other cities with subways aren't completely disregarded in Metro. They're mentioned occasionally. In real life, some cities don't have their subways deep enough to survive a nuclear blast but Moscow's subways were built deep enough for that. And no one ever thinks about the people out in rural areas, which wouldn't be blast targets. Yeah, there would be radioactive fallout but there are meds for that.
Ok its been 2 days since i watched the episode he comes up with spunkgargleweewee and now its stuck in my head And actually today i went to gamestop and said : hey whats the latest games in spunkgargleweewee genre and after 10mins i realized what i said
***** I have metro 2033 and last light but really haven't gotten around to finishing the series, but I loved the atmosphere of the first so much I probably will very soon
2:10 ACTUALLY Spoiler alert by the way The secret bunker full of cakes and free money had nothing good in it. You're led to believe that it's full of everything you might need but by who? Yourself? Yeah it's a military bunker, has to be full of stuff, right? What about people talking to you during the game? Everybody who talks about what great stuff is in the D6 bunker isn't a ranger, and doesn't actually know whats in there. Its revealed before the end if you pick up the last Notebook, that the only things in the bunker are biological weapons, not the endless amounts of food, or ammo, that people thought. This is the point that i realized too how deep the story of the game was. It hardly ever forced story down your throat, and when you looked around and learned about the world, you got a sense of how much effort was put into the story and the things that inhabit it.
Hahaha, I just finished the game and I had exactly the same problem with that tank. Tried it 4 times, then read in a walkthrough what I would have been supposed to do. But after all I liked it. Great review, Yahtzee! (I know I'm late though)
LOL!!!! I died heaps !!! I didn't google it though,,, Just bought Redux for 2033,,, CAN'T FRICKIN' WAIT !!!! I think it was the better of the two. Since playing these games on 'hardcore' I now play all FPS with no aiming reticle & as little hud as the game allows,,,, immersion. Have a go at Stalker SOC with the Oblivion mod,,, Yahtzee liked Clear Sky , Shadow of Chernobyl was heaps better.
It's a joke from when Last Light was first announced. For some reason news chanels were announcing the game as "Metro Last Night" This videos title is a joke but the original announcement was a typo.
The Moscow Metro is one of the only ones developed to double as a nuclear fallout shelter. The same can't be said about the New York Metro or the London Metro. Which is why it's assumed that everyone else is almost definitely dead. It would probably help if people paid more attention in high school history class. If I managed to learn that here in the US, then no one else should have any excuse.
Going to be completely pedantic here; People could well be living in other metros, but the absence of large aerials to use would make long range radio communication near impossible. Additionally unlike most other underground systems the Moscow metro was designed to also function as fallout shelters with blast doors and closed air systems. Other such cities include either St. Petersburg or Kiev (can’t remember which) and Pyongyang.
its like nobody here read the books..... there are multiple occasions where people talk about other places surviving the blasts both above ground and underground... st petersburg being the most obvious.... besides that the writer himself in a interview said that he wouldnt mind the next game taking place in the UK subway/city or an american or french because it would be interesting to see how other cultures survived..... :)
Медвед well you know that kinda makes sense for the fallout universe i guess.. its still fiction right but i get what your saying zero survivors makes zero sense
fonkyman Plus it's not at all beyond the realm of possibility that China, Russia, or any other major world power could come up with something similar to the vaults. You'd think that since the cold war lasted from the 1950s all the way to 2077 everyone would have adequate nuclear protection by then, especially considering the technological advancements that, after all, aren't exclusive to America.
Медвед true but like i said if the writers say its so then its so.... besides i personally feel that fallout is done... and as far as metro goes id really like an open world rpg like the witcher and then im done with that to :P
Better yet, a WWII shooter where you play a young man in the Nazi army and see the war from their perspective. The vast majority of the Nazi's weren't evil, they were just soldiers doing their jobs under threat of they and their families being killed or thrown in camps for not supporting the Reich. Many of Hitler's generals and top brass thought he was insane as the war progressed, especially with the mass amounts of civilians he killed and his crazed policies. Hell, Rommel, one of the greatest generals ever, grew to hate Hitler in the latter part of the war. I'm tired of the universal demonization of Germany during WWII. They were/are a proud people, put under the boot heel of Europe after WWI. Hitler brought them from nothing to the greatness they once were, which revitalized the German people. Seeing the war from the eyes of a young man and his experiences through the war, from him joining up out of pride for his country, slowly washing away after the seemingly endless fighting and the horrors he witnessed/was forced to endure due to Hitler's insanity. Be that shooting civilians prior to the involvement of the gas chambers or witnessing the horrors of the concentration camps.
Miccollo I would like to see this also. I am not a German but, I have seen and talked with people of the 'other' side of Germany during WW2. If you could have a choice to defect to the partisans forces, French resistance, or any other allied forces, it would make the game more interesting in multitudes of obvious reasons. or working with the Gray Market to save people because of morality conflict or just work up a retirement cushion for post war life. That would be a good learning game perhaps but, most gamer who view games as id put it 'porn' of sorts would overlook it and the media would have a turkey hunt with it.
The reason it focuses on the Moscow Metro is that the Soviet-Era constructed metro stations were built to act as a fallout shelter should the Cold War heat up, also the author canonised fanfiction so if you want you probably would be able to find stories about other Metros (Including the Clockwork Orange for some reason)
Anyone ever notice how Yahtzee isn't very consistent in his reviews? He likes it when games don't show him exactly what to do, until he can complain about the lack of direction. I would go on, but this review was mainly positive so I don't have much to work with.
Except the game doesn't tell you what to do, at least not actively. It's not shoving objective markers in your face, it's leaving you to intuit the way forward.
+Draconisraa That tank battle is still BS. Every LP of Last Light I ever watched featured several deaths, until the player accidentally shot the wheels and went "oooooh, that's what I'm supposed to do - well fuck you very much, game".
Chillermushroom oh certainly. I knew in advance what to do because of this review but i still took a couple tries because i was on a highish difficulty setting.
Draconisraa Same here, went straight for the wheels^^ But when you're playing on Ranger Hardcore and roughly 4 out of 5 deaths are not caused by enemies killing you, but happen due to bad signposting or lacking information, then you know there's room for improvement.
“And then there are the Nazis, who are bad because they’re Nazis, and they literally call themselves Nazis, now that’s not trying very hard, is it?” To be fair, given the state of things NOW
That's odd, one of my comments didn't post. I was just saying that it may be that the suggest translations box under advanced settings must be checked (or it might be something else in order to activate the feature) and I added the link to show what I was seeing upon right clicking to translate.
I remember playing Metro and really loving it, and I'm a CoD player. The game intrigued me, and I loved the story. One of these days, I'm going to read the book it was based on. After I get through my back log of H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King..
So Modern Warfare players chewing their arms off is a bad thing Yahtzee? I thought you would be all for spunk-gargle-weewee players losing their limbs in a horrific fashion.
The deepest station in the Moscow Metro is Park Podeby which is 87 metres below the surface. The deepest station in the St Petersburg Metro is Admiralteiskaja which is 102 metres below the surface and Arsenalna station in Kiev is 105.5 metres below the surface.
MonkeyTardis Never has a game name in a Zero Punctuation review been anything but the exact correct name of the game. The name of this review on the Escapist site reads correctly "Last Light", so this is most definitely a typo.

"Artyom! Deliver this pizza to Polis"

No, he mostly just eats it fast, because Mushroom soup doesn't taste as good as pig sausages.
Russian Metros are actually A LOT deeper than others. Maybe that's why only those people survived.
+Dandvadan While that is true, according to the game's lore, the Moscow Metro was specifically built to double as a bunker in case of a nuclear fallout ;)
+Druggaar Um... just like real world "lore"
"Американцы мертвы, и никто не заботится"
"Americans are dead and nobody cares"
Lol
Well, more precisely it would be "Американцы мертвы и всем плевать", because we don't say in Russian "никто не заботится" (well, maybe only if it's about a child with nobody to take care of him)
@@GeorgAnkar probably google translated, what do ya expect kek
Between this and stain's row,I think Yahtzee has disabled autocorrect.
I think he might do that on purpose.
DeathSpark
....The gas mask is required transit equipment. Why don't you have yours? It's on the list right next to headphones for survival.
A Metro game set in America would have enemy mutants carrying giant cellphones next to their heads, blasting deadly percussive sound waves.
wladdaimpala88
Absolutely.
Yeah, I don't know how he can stomach breathing the same air that everyone else seems to piss into every five minutes...
Suddenly relevant comment in 2020...
I know he has a set of stock gun images he uses, but I find it ironic that for this review he gives a Russian protagonist an M-16, ostensibly the most "American" gun out there right now.
Do you play a lot of Battlefield?
Madarch Can't say as I've ever played a Battlefield game.
***** Ah. Seemed like a very Battlefeild thing to say, seeing as the M16 is(or at least was) the standard gun for the American team.
Madarch Eh. It's one of the more recognizable American guns IRL too, especially since American soldiers use it wherever they go.
***** Very true.
And the beginning, and the middle, and the snack break, and the outro, and the intro, and the great analogy of public transport, and the everything else I forgot to mention...
The shit in metro is depressing as fuck
"Look dad I made a house"
"That looks very nice son. I'm sure mommy would love it"
"Yes dad we can all move into it and be happy!
"I'm sure of it."
"Dad when can we see mommy?"
"Soon son. If only she could of seen how much you've grown"
How DARE you make me remember that!
Wait you guys fixed the typo! Surely a sign of a better time to come.
PS, for fuck sake Yahtzee. Research! The Moscow underground was 1 of the only metro systems to be built to resist nuclear war. Another example would be Norads entry tunnel. Now note the difference in ideas of who should be protected in a nuclear war:/
+Gen Ohmni
Bullshit. All russians (and also some other ex-soviets's) metro sistems are built too serve nuclear shelters.

+Gen Ohmni
It's really more of a funding issue and difference in government effectiveness. Less civil liberty means more shit can actually get done (when the system isn't seized by corruption, at least).
Nnelg Indeed. Funding and governmental effectiveness differences derived from 2 different ideologies going at it in any way they could short of war.
ah the memories it literally took me an hour to figure out you had to shoot the... the tank.. tread.. disc thingies i forgot but still a fun game
I hated those tunnel bits ;-; I always had to take at least one break in each one cause it would spook me too much
+Shaun Friden Metro 2033 was terrifying, but Last Light made the mistake of shoving literal piles of ammo at you.
You're not supposed to stand still against the librarians, you've got to back off slowly
the last joke of every video gets me
At 4:50 I just died laughing from the sign in Russian.
Seth Masy Did it? I thought they didn't know either way, what with ruined communication systems. Although the possibility was certainly there.
I'm not sure but as both London and Paris have rivers close to their underground networks it could easily happen there as well
The Doomed
I think you're right, even if it wouldn't be flooded right away seasonal floods and rain water would collect water in the system.
legion999 Well I think that we can just assume.
Watched this for the first time after playing Last light. He hit the nail on the head with the train bit. The game never gives you direction on what to do when you need it.
i played this game with english subtitles, and russian sound, speaking of immersion.
It wasn't until I read this and took a closer look at the box art that I realized that that wasn't the actual name and that Yahtzee had pulled a "Kane and Lunch."
Virgin: Playing metro in English
Chad: play metro in Russian with subs on
Genderlord: playing metro in Russian without subs
...the third one could also be a Russian.
That’s just shitty design
In days past i used to fall asleep while listening to some music or a good audiobook in low volume, nowadays i listen to yatzee before sleeping, subsequently i havnt slept in weeks.
I don't know, jow you describe the results of giving Metro to a modern warfare lover, Sounds like a positive result to me
Thanks for the tip on the tank fight! I was stuck in it so long I just went on RUclips and looked at videos of the game until I got the answer.
Yahtzee is one of those reviewers that really convinces you to buy a game
2:58 "Suck on the flannel for nutrients". Is that a Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Reference, you amazing person?
I've always thought it'd be nice if they made Metro play like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
EraVulgaris
It's pretty much the same designers.
Spiritual successor and all that.
The shooting in Metro is what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. should of had:
My PRECIOUS bullet GO WHERE I POINT THEM, and there's no random bullshit bullet ballistics sending them swaying in the other direction when I point my gun at someone AT CLOSE RANGE
+Judson Joist
I never understood how the Oblivion lost mods worked. Is OL2010 the first one? Is OL3.0 Just an update, should I download that instead?
Judson Joist STILL doesn't change the fact that the base game is flawed.
Zelousmarineinspace
Flawed in what way?
StillGotShit4Brains
that i find the COD joke fitting and funny as a fan of the series.
also that there is a clear reason that you see and get to experience as to why everybody decided to live in the metro tunnels/stations.
StillGotShit4Brains
*random
Besides, Russians are hard boiled people, and this gritty setting is spectacular.
Remember, METPO 2⃣0⃣3⃣3⃣ got bad review scores originally, because people played the game like Call of Duty, only to suffocate when their Gas Mask get's blown off.
You can thank IGN for that.
But Metro 2033 will always be one of the greatest things ever created and is a shining example why you shouldn't give up faith in humanity.... Yet
After all these years, you've finally fixed the title 😂
Train Puns LOL
I can completely relate to that last bit about the tank. I had the exact same (infuriating) experience, my first time playing.
4:47 Wait, wouldn't that be an EXCELLENT reason to give it to a CoD player?
Yes.
2:47 Google translates this to: "Various Russian words"
Jesus. Is that what public transit is like in Australia?
It certainly is in Perth.
Yup, Yahtzee lives in Brisbane as do I (Yahtzee notice me!!). It's rather shitfull.
Steve Yuan Melbourne too
It's been a while since I last played so correct me if I'm wrong but with the tank, didn't shooting it's tracks cause the chassis to tilt slightly exposing the open top turret full of shells? I might be remembering that wrong but that's how I remember why we had to go for the tracks first. .
Same deal with the tank at the end. :/
Yep, took me forever to figure it out.
Awesome game, though!
Idk how many times i've played through that mission and it still fucks with me remembering what I have to do
The logic being that the tank needs to be on a angle for you to get a shot on the ammo
lol the i love the end "dont give this game to a modern warfare player, after a little while surrounded by ppl with foreign accents and they'll chew their arms off" XDD
I would love to see an open world metro game.
Train Simulator 2014
Play the Stalker games
You are in luck. They are creating an open world metro game in the moment.
efineter I prefer Autumn Aurora 2, besides I think it's best to play the game in it's original state first time round and then mod it.
Daniel Hadlow XD
Oh I can more then related to that one 3:46
I honestly prefered when it was called Metro Last Night.
Would’ve been a cooler name for the game tbh
The whole thing with tank wheels actually helped me with a difficult part
I play Metro in Russian it give it a more realistic feel iv'e never played it in English and probably never will although he for got to mention the ridiculous jiggle physics they give to the boobs of trippers it looks like someone sewed ballistic geletin onto their chests and told them to jump around
I'm surprised there was no mention of that lovely minigame you play during an espionage objective...you know what I'm talking about.
the delay between being spotted and the alarm is great if you plan on killing little to no one..... especially if you have health packs a good set of legs and prey the e button does its job... or you know a melee only run
"...melee only run."
Mic Mule, that is the most insane thing I think somebody could do in a Metro game.
I can't imagine that it would even be possible come to think of it.
i did it for the first half of metro 2033 nearly done
Try that in the swamp section adn tell me how it went.
"WHEN ARTYOM EATS FOOD DOES HE GO OM YOM YOM oh for fuck's sake"
If this game turned in to a open world survival fps rpg, that would be awsome! It's like S.t.a.l.k.e.r but with almost everthing else better.
+Minh Duc Nguyen Or they could just make Stalker 2. Call of Pripyat may have been a turd, but was a step into the right direction - now they just need to do it porperly =)
+Chillermushroom That just a dream but who know. 4A Games is making an open world Metro game.
you mean Fallout 4
+Minh Duc Nguyen you mean Fallout
@@bequanma This is an old comment but STALKER 2 is back on. Apparently they, GSC, have licensed the unreal engine for it so who knows what we will get although it should run better lol.
I think he already has, it was a while back though, so you might have to look through the archive a bit to find it.
Even that wasn't really open world.
xSomeRandomGamer
Did you read my comment? I said an open world in the tunnels. Just like the section where you get to ride the train car thing. A bunch of tunnels you can get around and explore new stations without being pushed in and out of them.
Antoha0102 I know what Random meant and i kinda agree it wouldn't fit with the game type. However it would be amazing if they could make a open world.
sam shaw
wat
The other cities with subways aren't completely disregarded in Metro. They're mentioned occasionally. In real life, some cities don't have their subways deep enough to survive a nuclear blast but Moscow's subways were built deep enough for that.
And no one ever thinks about the people out in rural areas, which wouldn't be blast targets. Yeah, there would be radioactive fallout but there are meds for that.
Ok its been 2 days since i watched the episode he comes up with spunkgargleweewee and now its stuck in my head
And actually today i went to gamestop and said : hey whats the latest games in spunkgargleweewee genre and after 10mins i realized what i said

***** I have metro 2033 and last light but really haven't gotten around to finishing the series, but I loved the atmosphere of the first so much I probably will very soon
The wheels on the tank are glowing... very brightly
2:10 ACTUALLY
Spoiler alert by the way
The secret bunker full of cakes and free money had nothing good in it.
I only just noticed the title typo. How long has that been there!?

Is "last night" a joke or a typo?
Kane and Lunch 2: Dog Days
the latter.
It's a joke from when Last Light was first announced.
For some reason news chanels were announcing the game as "Metro Last Night"
This videos title is a joke but the original announcement was a typo.
Well we do know people in london survived. As our patented Underground railroad service is so iconic it might as well be a landmark.
Going to be completely pedantic here;
People could well be living in other metros, but the absence of large aerials to use would make long range radio communication near impossible.
:)
All the while Fallout players are vehemently adamant that no other country in the world survived the nuclear war. Because no Vault-tec.
Медвед
well you know that kinda makes sense for the fallout universe i guess..
its still fiction right
but i get what your saying zero survivors makes zero sense
fonkyman
Plus it's not at all beyond the realm of possibility that China, Russia, or any other major world power could come up with something similar to the vaults.
You'd think that since the cold war lasted from the 1950s all the way to 2077 everyone would have adequate nuclear protection by then, especially considering the technological advancements that, after all, aren't exclusive to America.
Медвед
true but like i said if the writers say its so then its so....
besides i personally feel that fallout is done...
and as far as metro goes id really like an open world rpg like the witcher and then im done with that to :P
I'm in agony, I laughed so hard at the magic monkey paws and 4 leaf clover bit!
I'd like to see a game where you actually play as a generic Nazi soldier, stomping out any sign of resistance, slaughtering enemies/civilians etc.
try the game HATRED your not a nazi but it fits what your discribing
Miccollo seems like something i would play
TheColorblindpony spot on.
Why is the title Metro Last Night?
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE because the "Last Light" is a reference the last Dark One: and Night is dark :v
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE because it was a typo.
You got to turn off all the lights
Old post. But it's a reference to another video game reviewer (not sure who, probably IGN) who misspelled the title as "Last Night".
“chew” their own arms off. Like “choo-choo”. Lol.
+Peter Hanson it does actually. If you pull up the notebook the compass on it points towards where u need to be
+Draconisraa That tank battle is still BS. Every LP of Last Light I ever watched featured several deaths, until the player accidentally shot the wheels and went "oooooh, that's what I'm supposed to do - well fuck you very much, game".
Chillermushroom
oh certainly. I knew in advance what to do because of this review but i still took a couple tries because i was on a highish difficulty setting.
Draconisraa
Same here, went straight for the wheels^^ But when you're playing on Ranger Hardcore and roughly 4 out of 5 deaths are not caused by enemies killing you, but happen due to bad signposting or lacking information, then you know there's room for improvement.
In Brisbane, I can assure you, the public transport is amongst the worst in the world. Well said, Yahtzee.
+Ben Ward ah the glory of perth public transport
“And then there are the Nazis, who are bad because they’re Nazis, and they literally call themselves Nazis, now that’s not trying very hard, is it?”
To be fair, given the state of things NOW
Can't wait for Exodus. It may deviate from the original novel's storyline, but it looks SO DAMN GOOD!
Isn't it Metro Last Light?
Yes
That's odd, one of my comments didn't post. I was just saying that it may be that the suggest translations box under advanced settings must be checked (or it might be something else in order to activate the feature) and I added the link to show what I was seeing upon right clicking to translate.

I remember playing Metro and really loving it, and I'm a CoD player. The game intrigued me, and I loved the story. One of these days, I'm going to read the book it was based on. After I get through my back log of H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King..
'various russian words'
the Moscow subway tunnels where built during the cold war and where made to work as fallout shelters also I love the book
The name if this vide is metro last night...
And......
I think he's making a pun.
MonkeyTardis Never has a game name in a Zero Punctuation review been anything but the exact correct name of the game. The name of this review on the Escapist site reads correctly "Last Light", so this is most definitely a typo.
Thank you Captain Obvious! No seriously thank you, cuz i sure as hell missed it.
When playing this game, I had trouble with the tank until I remembered this video. Thank you Yahtzee.
