    Most bodybuilders' cardio:
-Walking to and from the fridge in between meals

Best explanation of cardio I’ve heard...cardio sounds easy, yes everyone can do it but to think about it and how it effects the body is the point..many do cardio then lift, it works but not if you want to grow...the body is like a car, it has to have to have fuel, oil, fluids to run, and the car has to run right so it has to be tuned to run it’s best.

I've been training for over 25 years and this is the most comprehensive and realist shit I've seen on RUclips on this topic.
There are a bunch of internet trainers that have emerged over the past 10-15 yrs that have conflated when, where and how to perform cardio to maintain muscle while losing % body fat. The sad thing is most who are spewing this rhetoric can't seem to show the results it there physique. To have a pro bodybuilder to share this type of information and exhibit it in his physique is invaluable. Thanks for the share unfiltered, much appreciated. ~Que

Mr.Fouad its amazing how you explain everything in simple terms! I just wanted to add the reason that it does not feel good to do cardio after the meal is I think that blood rushes to your stomach for digestion where you start digesting whereas in the morning its empty and good to go!

  • @DTsoumpas

Great video, really appreciate the straightforward advice. I have learned to avoid doing HIIT or going at too high-intensity LISS as well because of muscle breakdown (workouts and energy really suffer, I feel like I hit a wall). I also avoid making big changes; I don't jump into a full cardio routine from doing nothing. In fact, I started my "cardio" this phase by going for 20min walks 6x/wk no targets, and I arguably experienced little to no effect/benefit. However, after about 6 weeks of gradual change, I'm up to 6x/wk for 30 min incline treadmill walking at 70% MHR, and experiencing consistent fat loss. By doing it this way I've been able to avoid fatigue/soreness/extreme hunger, and have been able to maintain my sleep/diet/lifestyle. Huge benefits to being patient and making small changes.

Yes, yes, yes! So much YES! I absolutely have to cycle for my mental clarity. I always explain it to people that it is like my "meditation" time. Don't get me wrong, lifting is euphoric in it's own right but as a single parent(*for me), nothing beats cranking trance and pretending you're "exercising" your planned escape route, lol. I love my physique from weight training but my sanity and zen comes from pedal pushing ;) Thank you for being so informative, chill, and real. When I first started working out, every "pro" at my gym was quick to tell me everything I was doing wrong. As soon as I did what felt right for me, gains happened and the gym became my sanctuary. After awhile, the same "pros" were asking me for advice. My response remains the same, "Science, determination, and what feels good to you."

I was a certified trainer and I had the body especially since I do or did a lot of martial arts plus the gym training. I lost alot of the body and mental state that I was in.. So people like this man I appreciate bcuz it motivates me and revitalize my state of mind and being to getting back into health that leads into the shape I want.. people need to fully understand and take more then the questions and answers that people want to know especially from a pro.. You have to see the other stuff he’s pushing in this video and what I tell people. Your training and working out first and foremost for your health that’s it, now the ending result that comes with the healthy living is the body where ment to have which is healthy and lean where not ment to be the fattest country and the most unhealthy. Once you’ve achieved that health then it’s the next step of reaching a specific type of body meaning do you want to stay that lean look or do you want it to look more pleasing and very athletic.. Or are you the one that wants to add massive amounts of muscle and become a bodybuilder..! That’s what this guy is saying amongst others having these specific things in mind is gonna help out a lot.. it gives you a whole new found of respect for the body and mind not to mention the spirit.. Great job on the video bro and thank you..!!
Much respect ✊🏽 and to everyone else that reads this GOD BLESS and good luck on your goals...

The effect of HIIT burning cals after the workout is overstated by a lot of people. Large meta analyses have been done to show the EPOCH effect (cals burned after a HIIT session) are in fact very minimal. In fact the most they found was a 12% after burn. That is 12% of the total cals burned during the session. The average was about 4%. However, because of the body's need to reach a level of physical homeostasis, it does in fact mobilize more fat throughout the rest of the day bc you burned predominately carbs during your HIIT session. Mind you this is fat mobilization NOT fat oxidation. Not to discredit HIIT but i agree with you HIIT is not going to be the best for bb's and the point you made about it being hard on your lower body was a GREAT point, you need more time to recover. Thanks for this video, excellent info as always, but the science is still being worked on when it comes to HIIT and people try to make HIIT into some kind of holy grail and it is not.

Love this. Best explanation I've heard on cardio for bodybuilders. I've been doing too much running. I do 6-7 days a week, HIIT (fast jog/slow jog) for 20 minutes followed by 25-30 minute low intensity (brisk walk) all outside, same session (jog out, walk back). some hills etc. I think it might be negatively affecting my muscle gains. Now as the weather gets cooler, I'm going to come inside (more) and try the low impact on the step mill and see how it goes. According to my fitbit, I'm in my range (122.5 for me) for about 30 minutes of my cardio session (but 15 minutes even higher). I think it might be too much. So might be better to be in that 122.5 for 45-50 minutes instead with no time higher really. Makes a lot of sense. Thank you Fouad!

Instead of cardio on mornings I train a small muscle group for 20mins e.g. forearms an traps, Abs, calves, side and delts then 6 hours later i do my regular split....it may not make sense to most but i love it an it elevates my heart rate

Thanks for your Video’s, they are very informative. After my injury (torn labrum) I was depressed and not motivated to go back to the gym. I’m really going to give it all that I got. Being self motivated is not a easy journey for someone’s fitness goals but it’s not impossible. It’s just getting in the right mind set and telling your self to enough is enough.
