- The Portable Ham Radio antenna is the keystone of a successful portable ham radio field day or excursion. The lightest and most efficient ham radio antennas available to the portable radio operator, are the dipole, off center fed dipole, and end fed half wave antennas. Tim N9SAB has sent over a care package containing some very interesting ultra-lightweight and ultra-efficient antennas for portable and fixed station use.
The package should include signal and multiband dipole antennas, end-fed half wave antennas, and man-portable backpacking antennas, all being lightweight, and extremely efficient. Any of these antennas would be at home on a SOTA summit, on a POTA activation, or a ham radio backpacking trip with one of the ultra-portable QRP radios available today.
Let's do an unboxing together, and see just what Tim sent over.

Yeah I think I'm going to get some business for your friend everybody's excited over your video right now and I've been following you for a long time I just haven't make too many comments but I'm sure making comments today I'm making comments package you got❤🎉😅 today
Yeah Tim's a great guy I really like the 100 w version 👍👍👍 I already got buyers for antennas thank you for sharing this 👍
Boy Tim's a great guy wow incredible beautiful antennas waterproof I love them I really do love them ❤️❤️❤️
Great video Julian! A lot of people appreciate you. Thanks for sharing👍 Take care and 73.
Tim makes great antennas...
Anything antenna gets my attention these days. Especially dipoles.
Brilliant set of antennas. In an emergency operation power and weight will be the most important factors for sustainable operating. Those antennas should be exactly what is needed in virtually any situation.
Well said and agreed! Adding a telescopic pole and beach fishing pole anchor, makes these deployable anywhere.
Thanks for watching and commenting.

Man you got REAL package. That's his entire product line
I believe that N9SAB dual core OCF dipole should indeed be your signature man portable wire antenna! What a great care package! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
Those look nice, I like the consistency in each build. I’ve been looking at retiring my 20m speaker wire dipole. These look like they could fit the bill.
So excited tearing into the plastic bags that you were oblivious to the writing on them, lol.
I noticed that after I made the video 🤣👍 I decided to publish it anyway so that you guys could see the excitement from the heart.

More and more, I'm coming on board with lower weight while maintaining effectiveness. Switched to lithium, now seriously considering the ic 705 for weight and space sayings, and lowering power consumption and only needing one of my batteries.
Especially since i will be packing the equipment on my back. Especially while sota.
Tim does great work. My first antenna after getting my General (US) license seven years ago was the purchase of his 40m etc OCF. One end on the top of a fence, middle on a 20 ft (~6m) painter's pole, and the other end on a rain gutter. Worked great.
The antenna has since gone to the club for field day and to help new hams.
Thanks for the videos, Julian.
Too funny. He just shipped mine I just bought. I remembered you recommending him a long time ago.
N9SAB antennas are the best of the best. Even had the pleasure of using one of his EFHW's downrange. Tim is a stand up guy. The dude even supports a non-profit for our future military leaders with a percentage of his ebay sales. 🇺🇸👍
Philip KF7JZ, Great video! I would like to see him sell the same package that he sent you as a kit, great options for antennas! Thanks and 73.
Brilliant idea! 👍

Hey buddy I've been watching you for many years you and I are growing old gracefully you have such a great RUclips channel you're very awesome thank you for sharing this product❤
Got a N9SAB outside. It’s awesome.
I love Tim’s antennas. They are so well made. I have a slew of his antennas to cover all the bands.
Indeed! I love them because they are so lightweight, I can carry more antenna capability, while still saving weight. Def a win.

Awesome video, Julian. Thank you for sharing with us. 73....
Thanks for the video Julian. Just ordered me up some of the mono band 50w dipoles to replace a couple of old weathered linked dipoles that have started to break on me.
Those broke antennas I have are the SOTAbeams Bandhoppers if anyone is curious. The links broke and the wire got fragile after many POTA activations. I've repaired them too many times at this point.
I purchased three N9SAB dipoles last summer from Tim: the 30, 20, and 17 meter versions. They are definitely well made and easy to deploy for POTA ops. Last summer was my first year of POTA Activations here in southern-central British Columbia, Canada. I found that N9SAB's 30m dipole is all I needed for multiband activations with my KX3 in CW mode at 5-10 Watts with the KX3 built-in auto-tuner. I used it on 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10m cw bands. The KX3 tuned it perfectly on all bands with little to no trouble getting 1:1 SWR. I operated in very remote locations throughout south central BC and made contacts all over North America and a couple in Europe with just Tim's 30m dipole and the KX3. I used Tim's Nano Balun Choke at the dipole feed point and the dipole usually up about 30' with a telescopic mast. Depending on the surrounding trees, I deployed the ends as either flat dipole or inverted-V. I look forward to using these dipoles again this summer.
Thanks for your great informative post, Julian.
Thank You Julian. I use Tim's antenna as well and absolutely love them! Keep up the great channel - KK1J
I have a couple of his antennas, an OCFD and an end fed. They seem to be well built.
Cool swag..I like the red bag as well.
Awesome! Makes a nice little kit bag.
Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have the 40m OCFD from Tim and love it. Only thing I'd like to see different is the use of PolyStealth 26 wire instead of the stiffer wire that he currently uses.
Great video I have the OCFD 80-6 great antenna!
I use several of Tim’s antennas as well as the in line choke. Last week used the low power 20m dipole at 5w . Logged 131 qso,s SSB in 60 minutes . Great audio and strong signal reports back. Can defiantly recommend his work to othe hams. Looking forward to viewing your reviews. Very much appreciate your video channel. W0YKS.
I've got one of his 30m dipoles that I use for portable 300 baud APRS with a (tr)uSDX, Digirig, Raspberry Pi and Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. I have the Pi set up with KM6LYW's Digipi image, so I just connect the Galaxy Tab to the wireless hotspot of the Pi and I'm in business. Works really well. The whole station fits inside a small tactical sling pack, along with a HT, roll-up J-pole and Mobilinkd TNC4. Those inline chokes are also great if you want to make your own custom dipole with one of those things that terminates coax with a pair of banana plug sockets (don't know the name of them). I made a 10m vertical dipole with one I bought from Tim. His stuff is 1st class.
Thank you thank you I found him on eBay this is awesome thank you so much
Nice set of antennas...time to play!
Just ordered a new winter tent. I'll be back out in the field within a week👍💪
Great video, many thanks!!! Robert K5TPC
I love those antennas that really high quality wire very nice easy to set up the way the coding is on on those wires in the so 239 connector really really nice I love it please leave a description on how to get those wire antennas❤
Very cool!
Hope you noticed that each poly outer bag had writing on it...probably the description of the antenna.
I think it's that Julian has an eye situation. Not poking fun, being serious
Play ship them to me I would like to try those antennas they'll grow great into a to go bag
Link in the description 👍
@@OH8STN I have some new amateur operators got their license they want to buy the Santana I'm going to send them to the website
Tim and I are working on some projects.
How do you guys deploy dipoles in the field where there's simply no trees? Masts are heavy....
Specific suggestions?
I use a telescopic fishing pole and beach sand pole spike. Works in snow, dirt and sand. For ice, we need to be more creative.

Please report back on the ocfd at least
Tim makes great products and is the best to wok with. He’ll customize antennas to your needs. I use his 20/0m linked dipole in the field often and it has never let me down. 73 de K2CJB
