Be considerate : Please know he/She may have different culture ,rules if you don't find it right please understand,don't complain ..he/she may have issues . 3)If possible buy some gifts for kids . 4)Treat it like you're family and you will get the same response . 5)Be very clean maintain hygiene try to help the host . 6)Please don't be burden but a happy experience for host and once leaving ask the host to visit you're country and stay with you. 7)If you are financially strong and you see the host is not doing good if possible try to help them with money . 8)They have sister,daughters ..please maintain high level of respect and integrity . Be good human .not greedy selfish and just consuming and getting help but not giving help . In India it's said ,Atithi devo bhava . In short guest is god .

For Your Information, better you search people that your have same hobby or what you like. If you and him have same hobby its make your couch surfing better, you can talk alot of the same thing and its make good connection and comfortable for you too
I wouldn't want to stay in someone's house for free. I don't like that feeling that I feel like I owe somebody something. I didn't have luck with couch surfing anyway. I don't like that I'm indepted to someone especially that I don't know.
