I agree with comments about Carlos. He's is as enthusiastic as a rock. And why at the origin point are they already out of 2 meal choices? Amtrak has to be on point with their service to be a future success after receiving huge Govt funded investments. The prices range up to $450 for this segment and compared to a First Class flight on an airline they have to improve their service standard. I think people are inclined to pay for a higher standard of service and experience (me as an example) but after 40 years of customer service I'd be furious at Carlos and his rather indifferent and casual manner greeting a customer for the first time.
Carlos wasn't *bad*, I've had far worse on airplanes etc, but definitely room for improvement on the consistency of the service. Every other staff member I met on board was very friendly, had a nice long chat at dinner with one of the others.
Took the Capitol Limited in November of 2021 and encountered Carlos. Recognized him right away in your video. I think he'd really prefer another line of work.
Enjoyed the video. I am here because I will be taking this trip in reverse very soon and also in a roomette. (I am also continuing on and taking the California Zephyr which has been on my bucket list for sometime now) I have not done a SUPERLINER roomette yet, just a viewliner roomette (Crescent) and have enjoyed it.....interesting. Anyway thanks for being candid about the dining/food as I haven't been on Amtrak since they switched some trains to this so-called "flexible dining" and I've wondered about it....One of the best parts, to me, about train travel in the past was the dining experience in the dining car.....I did read they have restored "traditional dining" to several trains....so I guess I will see very soon. Thanks again for this most interesting video!
By the way good news, Although I’m unsure about the Capitol limited but I believe all the long distance trains west of Chicago dining options for sleeping car passengers went back to their traditional dining car menu which I think is better than what they had on your train! Please correct me if I’m wrong about that
It hasn’t. I went from Seattle to dc (empire builder to Chicago, Chicago to dc), it was pretty miserable. The empire builder was an amazing experience though.
I don't blame Carlos for having a blasé day if he has to serve rubber food to his poor passengers! He probably has to listen to complaints and can't do anything about it! I've been in customer service and had my hands tied. Not a good place to be. I would rather have enjoyable food for that much money on my travels! Great videos! Thanks for sharing 👍
Approximately where were you when you woke up? Do they coordinate the times so that you get to see the mountains and cliffs or you need to do your own calculation so that you see the best sights when It’s bright out not night?
sorry to see cabin steward not very friendly at all...clearly is not a people person...sad since amtrak needs all the passengers it can get and customers should receive friendlier service...video was good but audio needs adjusted...may be better with no music
I had to deal with the same car attendant on this route in Nov. of 2021. I hope he's improved. As it was, he was a good reason not to take the Capitol Limited from Washington DC to Chicago. We had a great, helpful, and friendly car attendant from Chicago to DC.

I could not agree more. I've been in airline customer service now for almost 28 years and I know exactly what you mean.........

I plan on doing this from DC to Chicago then on to Emeryville to visit my cousins.
Loved the video but the music was to loud and it was hard to hear you at times
Thanks for the feedback, working on balancing audio better.

God, I hope the service has improved by now!

Nice video, man. I'm going to that train soon but there are no more rooms left only chairs. My back is going to be spiraling after this. 😢

Amtrak not serving real food is a very big negative! What the heck? I am thinking about air travel from now on.
Where were the morning views? You were entering the appalachian mountains?

What do you want him to do? Wrap his arms around you?
@@selmaboyd2532 no...be decent and give good customer service...not sure what your problem is????
@@brendalogan6281 He took the order didn't he?
@@brendalogan6281 What did he do that wrong?
The train just left the station and they’re out of food.
Good video but audio was off. Music is a little loud and narration too quite.
No information provided on the toilet.
Is the Omelette Back??
yes
This train isn’t reliable getting to DC from Chicago! Because it’s not always on time.
