Blowback PCC usually are known for being late. The reason the MPX is heavy is because it’s a gas piston. 7 pounds for the direct blowback is pretty heavy when you got guys like JP coming out at 5 pounds for a competition style gun. The fact that it has a 90° safety, not a great trigger, no muzzle brake, even though they tried to justify that and no type of bearing delay system. This seems much more like a home defense or plinking rifle than a true competition PCC.

I just assumed they were filling the generic gap of "PCC" in their product line. I'm sure it's a very well made direct blowback. They still make them, and they'll be so much better configured for competition. I'm hugely biased by my resent investment in a Mean Arms upper, though.
I know next to nothing about PCC competition, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once. Why spend $2,200 when you can get the JP Enterprises GMR-15 which is the most popular Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) used in competition. If you are going to compete it seems to me that the extra $1,500 is worth it. Unless you are a PCC competitor you are spending a lot of coin to sling lead down range.
Add a 3/4 Kynshot buffer weight to short stroke and if not so equipped a Wilson combat carbine flat wire spring. Short strokes it and still allows last round bolt hold open. Works good on PSA ARV with scorpion mags. Credit to Blowback9. A lot of money for this to need modifications though. I would probably just try a CMMG Banshee instead.
Nice vid! There is a philosophy among some rifle builders that since triggers are such personal choices for rifle/PCC guys that most of your buyers will change it no matter what you put in so just put an inexpensive one in. Not saying it is right. Yeah, the 16" saves you from a tax stamp and having to notify ATF if you are taking it out of state. Says the guy who runs a H&K SP5 in USPSA. :-)

This seems like a really poor value. I use it for plinking and training, but I bet it would also work well for competition.
I've asked DD before why they use such crappy triggers. Their answer: they pass savings onto the consumer by using that trigger so the consumer can pick their favorite trigger.
You can get a CZ Scorpion PCC, a Wraithworks Warscorp9 PCC (full ambi with left and right button releases AND a paddle), AND a case of ammo for that. Hard pass.
I literally have the same hydraulic buffer in my AR-V , with a5 toob & 2 weights under 1k , this seems silly , everyone who’s shot mine is surprised it’s a blowback
This is just an overpriced direct blowback PCC. Extar can do that for $300. Sure, sure, it has some quality control, but that should be the bare minimum and not some standout feature. And double stack, double feed magazines are cool. But not revolutionary by any means. Nor do they justify that price tag. If you want a premiu PCC for competition you get a JP-5. You cannot bet better than a MP5 with modern AR ergos.
Direct blowback PCC at a very high price, using unusual magazines, with no brake, and it needs a trigger? Um, no thank you very much. If I was going to spend a ton of money on a PCC, I would spend the extra money and get a JP5.
@ they seem to resist carbon sooting and aren’t quite so “squishable” compared to the lancers. I think the feed presentation is slightly better but I’m not sure if that’s just perception or not
There’s just nothing here outside of symmetrical ambi for that price that doesn’t send me to the M&P Response for $800. Too much compromise for match use, too much “luxury” for home defense. If it was 1200 or 1300 it would be a no brainer. But 2k is just a bit much. Even for DD
As someone who is a reloader and shot a lot of PCC prior to the Plandemic, I used a specific sub-sonic load in my Steel Challenge 2011, and used the same ammunition in my Steel Challenge PCCs. It was really quiet, like less noisy than a .22 LR carbine. I had to put a brake on my rifles so that the timer would hear all of my shots. Also, I used a CMMG build with a CMMG BCG and it worked fine until about 2k rounds through it, then it would FTE with every magazine. Same with the Ruger PCC, except it took 5k rounds to start acting up. Anyone who shoots a lot of 9mm PCCs knows that reliability costs a premium. Several of my competitors spent more than double the cost of the parts to get them running reliably long term. There's a reason the JP-5 is so popular in spite of the price. If this DD can be as reliable as the JP-5 at this price point, I'd gladly pay it. I'll still end up getting a PCC rated competition trigger. And I have plenty of CZ Scorpion magazines.
I got an M&P FPC for a fun plinker for me and my kids a year ago. Decided to try it in steel match and USPSA match just for fun. Got into it and started saving up for a JP5 for matches. After shooting other guys high $ rifles and seeing all the malfunctions they'd have from time to time, I invested the $1500 I'd saved towards a JP5 in cases of 9mm and the rest is history. I'm only at the 5krds mark with it. But it's ran flawlessly so far. I get a kick out of occasionally beating a couple of the much better guys simply because their $3k PCC with custom loads malfunctions on a stage or 2. And if something fails, a customer service phone call covers it. It's not bad for a $575 range toy.
Didn’t see anything that impressed me about it. There are other upper and lowers that are just as good if not better. A basic trigger seems geared more toward profits than value for the customer who will likely replace it. Seven plus pounds is a little heavy IMHO. If someone is willing to spend that kind of money then I believe they will be better off building their own.
Allegedly they put it that far forward so people are forced to stop take it off and put it where they want… I’m not sure the validity of this statement but it’s works I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Lets all make a rifle that shoots cheaper ammo. But lets make the rifle so expensive it makes using cheap ammo pointless because in the end you're not saving any money.. Unless the PCC is sub 400 bucks its pretty fkn useless in every way.
I’ve heard somewhere that Glock mags really aren’t optimal for pcc’s since they are single feed. The old school Colt style SMG mags are supposed to be the optimal choice.
@@bigshoe84ifyI have multiple PCC platforms. On my builds the Glock mag ones have way less problems specifically double feed jams compared to MPX, colt sticks mags. Also it's tremendously easier to reload a skinny Glock mag compared to a 2"X2" square chunk.

because PCC is a division in USPSA and IDPA that lets you shoot rifles on handgun ranges and do practical stuff. Both require an SBR stamp or a 16" barrel.
Respectfully disagree. A PCC serves multiple purposes! They’re a lot quieter in an indoor range. Cheaper to shoot. Same ergos and controls as a rifle, so cheaper training. Plus, they’re just fun!

@ Is true! I know because I’ve owned them. Glock mags were NEVER designed to be used in a rifle. The mag release cutout gets chewed up over time. Plus, the bolt hold-open mechanism can problematic. The excuse that people want mag familiarity between their pistol and PCC is a dumb argument, unless it’s strictly for competition. If my sidearm is a pistol, my primary is a 5.56 or .308 rifle, not a friggin PCC.
@ your the exception rather then the rule. Glock mags dominate for a reason. The fact that you bring those other two calibers into the conversation just shows that you miss the whole point of shooting PCC's
@ Then tell me, genius. What’s the point of a PCC? Hmmm, shoot a pistol caliber bullet out of a carbine, right? If that’s the intent, I’m going to use the most reliable design for that purpose. Glock mags aren’t it! This is going in circles. Meeting adjourned.

DD is seeing if they can get away with pulling a b&t
CZ scorpion mags are cheap and easy to find.
JP's entire business model is a solution looking for a problem. Hard pass.
Everyone wants to sell blowback cause it is cheap to make.
Almost 2k. Where are the ones that come up with a kinda new delay system?
Whats been your experience with the mpx mags? I find if I'm not careful loading mine I can get feed issues
I haven't had issues feeding with MPX mags yet - round counts are still low - probably approaching 2k on the rifle
I like the thril/new sig 35rd mags (they’re the same) over the lancer made ones.
@@user-vv9lr2rw5d What makes the Thril better? I only have the old Lancers so I can't compare
@ they seem to resist carbon sooting and aren’t quite so “squishable” compared to the lancers. I think the feed presentation is slightly better but I’m not sure if that’s just perception or not
@ Being stiffer makes sense since they're solid vs. translucent. Their 20 rounder appears to be shorter than Lancer's as well. Appreciate the response
I really want a JP5 but they are so expensive.
I’ll keep my SIG MPX thanks
Don’t see lot people dropping 2k for that. If better trigger, maybe
Too expensive. I'm not firing 9mm down range for $2,000. CZ Scorpion or Extar EP-9.
CZ and Extar have to much dot bounce for competition
What optic is that?
There’s just nothing here outside of symmetrical ambi for that price that doesn’t send me to the M&P Response for $800. Too much compromise for match use, too much “luxury” for home defense. If it was 1200 or 1300 it would be a no brainer. But 2k is just a bit much. Even for DD
how much ?
Ar9's or 9mms aren't that hard to get running and they shouldnt cost a premium either.
This one is severely overpriced for what you get.
The CMMG needs a new o ring for the extractor every 500-800 rounds, not a big deal once you know this. Otherwise it is a great platform.
@MotoBozo-n4e huh? Pretty sure you mean ejector spring.
This or the MPX?
You seriously asking whether an overpriced direct blowback gun versus one of the softest shooting 9 mm PCC's on the market is better?
@@conman1395 My mpx has a jiggly rail, and I can bend the rail to touch the barrel.
@@cameronh5442 MPX's are also consumable items once you're past 10,000 rounds
🇺🇸
Barrel is too long, IMO. For the distances of the competition, 12 inches is enough. It makes difference when swinging the rifle.
Yeah and then ask the ATF permission to travel to matches
What's all that white stuff on the range? Aren't you in texas??
Didn’t see anything that impressed me about it. There are other upper and lowers that are just as good if not better. A basic trigger seems geared more toward profits than value for the customer who will likely replace it. Seven plus pounds is a little heavy IMHO. If someone is willing to spend that kind of money then I believe they will be better off building their own.
I vote this the best gun of 2024/25
I will got a cmmg dissent over this everyday
Allegedly they put it that far forward so people are forced to stop take it off and put it where they want… I’m not sure the validity of this statement but it’s works I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I prefer B&T apc 9 pro
Hard pass for 2k. Better off spending that same $$$ on gmr-15 or save another 1k for a jp5.
A lot of great PCC’s for far less than this thing.
It seems underwhelming.
JP5 all the way!
Just buy a JP.
Nah. I’ll just stick with my Extar. 😂
Lets all make a rifle that shoots cheaper ammo. But lets make the rifle so expensive it makes using cheap ammo pointless because in the end you're not saving any money.. Unless the PCC is sub 400 bucks its pretty fkn useless in every way.
CZ has kinda been a goat rodeo since merging with Colt. Also, pour one out for companies announcing products they can't get to market for years.
they did not merge, they bought colt
Hold up Staccato is making a 2011 that takes Glock mags but DD thought it would be smart for their PCC not to take Glock mags. 😂
@@mackies9151 Interesting, I’ve never run a Glock mag pcc so have no personal experience with that but I have one that uses the Colt style mags and it runs great.
Just get the new psa ar-v. Save yourself 1k.
Refreshing review! I’m so sick of hearing keyboard commandos parrot back Internet myths about how the DD furniture rips ALL of the hairs off their beard and how the first thing they have to do is replace the DD Grip & Rip with a Radian. I love the furniture and charging handle so much that I put it on my other armalite platform rifles.
I’m just bummed they didn’t do Glock mags.
over 2k for a hand gun caliber (rifle) naw im good its worthless
want a hand gun get a hand gun
want a rifle get a rifle
why handicap yourself with that garbage that serves zero purpose other then a money grab for a company that knows people will waste there money...
because PCC is a division in USPSA and IDPA that lets you shoot rifles on handgun ranges and do practical stuff. Both require an SBR stamp or a 16" barrel.
Respectfully disagree. A PCC serves multiple purposes! They’re a lot quieter in an indoor range. Cheaper to shoot. Same ergos and controls as a rifle, so cheaper training. Plus, they’re just fun!
waste of money unless you are DD fanboy.
I think id rather go with a PSA arv and save the money
For $2200 you can get something way better way more reliable than that hunk of shit.
😎
Priced,like an aft lackey.
Well, your grip sucks. Let's statt from that
Nope
typical daniel defense. premium (kinda) price for a mediocre product.
👍💩
Daniel defense publicly stated they love the ATF. only support companies that support our rights.
'On Friday, Daniel Defense head honcho Marty Daniel issued a statement announcing his support for the FixNICS bill currently pending in both the House and Senate. But FixNICS hasn’t exactly been popular with gun rights supporters, many of whom see it as a slippery slope step toward universal background checks and, eventually, full-blown registration.
Mr. Daniel apparently heard from his customers about their displeasure with his FixNICS stance. He just issued the following statement:
Friends,
First and foremost, let me say that I have heard your voices. I put out a statement on Friday, supporting Senate Bill S.2135 also known as the Fix NICS Act. I have received overwhelming feedback since putting out this statement, which has brought to my attention that there are significant and justified concerns regarding this bill. I can no longer in good conscience put my support behind S.2135.
I released the original statement because I believed it was the best option available at this time to hold back the continued attacks on the Second Amendment and the erosion of our rights. I was wrong.
Let me be very clear:
• My life’s work is to protect an individual’s right to keep and bear arms by holding our lawmakers accountable to the Second Amendment.
• I believe that all firearms laws that limit the rights of law abiding citizens are unconstitutional.
• I will never support any legislation which infringes on any individuals rights, and could potentially subvert due process.
• Myself, my Family, and Daniel Defense love and serve our Veterans every day. I would never support a legislative measure which would strip them of their rights based on their history of service and sacrifice.
Thank you to everyone who reached out and voiced your concerns. You are a motivated and passionate group of people which I am proud to call my peers, my friends, and my family. We are all united in one fight - the fight to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I will never turn my back on you. I stand with you and I am ready to continue to fight for our rights.

Did they?
Yawn. This same recycled disinfo?
@@Henderson_A17 The founder said that he doesn’t support abolishing the ATF. This guy has his words twisted.

Ffs...just build PCC to take glock mags
Glock mags suck for PCCs! Scorpion and Colt mags are far more reliable and easier to load. They’re also inexpensive.
@@wisco_guy this info is false. If it was true, all the top 25 competitors in the country wouldn’t be using Glock mags.
