You can tuck the ball band in the center of the ball as you are lifting the cake off the spool, too! That’s what I do so that I remember what yarn it is. I usually wind mine when I get it, so that helps keep them organized. Just fold the ball band so you can tuck it in the center and then remove it neatly when you are ready to knit/crochet with the cake!
i have about 25 pounds of yarn in a garbage bag fhat i thought i’d never be able to organize so i finally got the money for this and im so happy!!! im gonna spend all day doing this !! and you made putting this together easy!! thank you
Greetings Ms Phanessa! I ordered the yarn winder through your RUclips channel from Knit Picks and even was given a discount! I ordered the bundle: yarn winder, swift, and yarn bowl! Everything is beautiful! Thank you ever so much for your video and making purchasing everything so easy, simple and affordable! Gratitude and Good Blessings to you and yours!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING AN AFFORDABLE WINDER FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONES & THIS ONE DOES CREATE A BEAUTIFUL CAKE 😊💝! I THINK I WILL LOVE IT 💝💝💝!!!
Thank you for this video. I just bought a ball winder and it helped me so much. I did run into a bunch of tangles from the yarn itself but otherwise it worked out great.
Thank you so much for the step-by-step instruction of using the ball winder! :) My yarn is too thin so it slips but the winder itself works pretty well. _from a novice knitter in Seoul.
I am knitting a blanket with four mandala cakes. My first question is: do I pull yarn from inside the cake or the loose one on the side? Next question is: would it be better to use a ball winder and then again where is it best to pull the yarn from? Hope to hear back from you soon :-) Thank you!
I always prefer to pull from center. It makes it so much easier. I’m not sure what you mean by if it’s better using a winder? Do you mean pulling from outside to wind up the cake so you can pull from inside? I would be too lazy to do that LOL
Do you mean after you’ve rolled it up using the winder?? Maybe it’s a tension issue or just the nature of the yarn fiber? Are you making sure there’s even tension by holding on to the yarn when winding?
Mine broke too and i bought a second one, i bought the same one you have(knit picks, i bought it from amazon), i think something is wrong with mine, it won't wind evenly, it's all on one side. (Never had that problem with my last one)There are no videos on what ti do when this happens, its driving me crazy, i wish i could fix it.
Oh no! I haven't had any problems except of course when i let my 4 year old play with it and he was winding the yarn in the mechanics of it and then kept doing it until it was jammed and tight in there!
@@DesignsbyPhanessa i wasn't sure if you were aware of how to fix one or if there is is a place to get more info on fixing them, i loved my previous ball winder so much and feel like it's just off the axis somehow. ♡♡

Welcome!!!
Thanks for the review. Just went ahead and bought one from Amazon. Hope it works. I hate hand winding balls of yarn. lol🧶👍🏼🤗
Lynne St Pierre I love that I can return things on amazon ☺️
Thanks so much for sharing! I subscribed and I’m looking forward to future videos!
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Welcome!
Wonderful explicit video as the box instructions were unclear!😘
Glad it was helpful! 🤍

should it be able to be put back in the box?
Sure. You’ll have to take it apart. I don’t put mine back because it’s not ideal for me.
All my cakes are ending up tangled together when I pull from the center. What am I doing wrong?
Do you mean after you’ve rolled it up using the winder?? Maybe it’s a tension issue or just the nature of the yarn fiber? Are you making sure there’s even tension by holding on to the yarn when winding?
Just purchased a new one. Opened. Followed your directions. Then mine broke. There was brown yarn inside.
Bought on Amazon.
Returning.
Oh my! They sent a used one?!?
Why does my ball fall of from the winder???
I've had that happen when I'm winding so fast, the weight of the yarn makes the ball fly off lol
@@DesignsbyPhanessa Oh, okay. I was like, what the heck is going on? I didn't think I was winding too fast for the ball, LOL!
I just received my Knit Picker today and it is so quick & easy to use! Watching your video was a big help so thank you! 🧶

Yarn addict aka K lo I took mine apart.
The set up is so confusing for me 😢
Oh no!
Ok yall. I broke mine.
Oh no! Mine broke because my boys got the yarn really jammed in the moving parts
