Cantilever Floating steps

Needed some better looking steps from the back patio down to my garden paths. Used fence slats and 2x4s to make the frames. I used Sakrete 60 lb high strength concrete and it took about 6 bags for each slab. The bottom slab is not floating and is only about 3" deep.

Thank you this is great thank you. What tape did you use to ensure the timber comes off cleanly? I’m about to have a go at making something very similar only larger. Any tips would be appreciated.

Some gorilla tape and also some vaseline.

Can you do a step by step video as to how you did the framing for the floating step

I more or less just did the forms as I went through the process. It is really nothing complicated. Just make sure everything is level.

at what physical point did you separate the lumber when cement was dry?

I don't think that it really matters exactly where to start taking the framing off.
