About right for that temperature that day. Unis rating is crank not wheel so realistically most is38 Uni cars dyno about 340-350whp. Add the temperature and I’m not surprised. This car should still be in the 12s regardless.
BSfunk44 Yes, they emailed me back saying that the 381 was a crank measured hp. Just deceiving when you see a car on a dyno and them posting the results as if it was a wheel measurement. The car is although a blast to drive.
Sterling Robertson Measuring at the crank is worldwide standard. Even in Germany, the home country of cars. Who cares how much is at the wheels? No one, because it's meaningless. A Bugatti Veyron 16.4 for example has 1000hp. Who cares if it's only 820 at the wheels? The crank hp is the standard.
Juri Kusnezow "Who cares how much is at the wheels?" Only every driver that turned a key. If you just want an inflated number than measure at the crank or even better yet find a way to measure the hp where it's actually created...in the combution chamber. Measuring hp on a dyno is how drivers measure what is really being made. Manufacturers measure at the crank because they get a bigger number to help sell cars. The point is that if the car makes 1000hp at the crank and only puts down 10hp to the ground you got 10hp. Plain and simple. My entire point was that when you advertise a product making XXX hp and show a video of a car doing a dyno run then you didn't get a crankshaft measurement. If a company says they make XXX hp and show an engine on a stand then I know to expect drive train loss from thier numbers. This was not the case.

I really want to take a ride in it im down to drive from LA to palm springs. I've been wanting to get an is38 but ive been so afraid to bite the bullet because my wheels are already spinning on unitronics stage 2 on an IS12 Is yours the 1.8? if so, how does it feel compared to an is12 stage 2?
Also, mine is a quattro model. It was just in "DYNO" mode so only the front wheels turn. You just turn on ignition, the hazards and pump the accelerator 5-7times very fast then start the car. As long as the rear wheels don't move the quattro system will be deactivated. Another way is to just unplug the haldex pump.
Ugh I would love to! I’ve been thinking of whether or not I should jump to an I20. The guys over at unitronic said I would be fine because peak is at high RPM so I won’t be spinning much.
A3 audi tt or q3 does not have torsen quattro like others, it uses awd system from golf its called haldex, and its not awd its more like esp, it can turn on rear drive only if it slip or something
316 hp to the wheels feels great. You would see much better numbers just about anywhere as it was almost 110 degrees outside at 2200ft. Do this same run at sea level on a cold winter day and you would probably see another 25-50hp.
@@iPulverize well for this run I deactivated the awd/Quattro system as they only had a single axle dyno. So in theory it could be different turning all 4 wheels. I'm sure people can figure that out though.
Sterling Robertson Ya, I mean I bought one recently instead of a GTI simply because it snows where I live and also I don't want to buy drag radials for the one or two times I may want to go to the drag strip.
I have a Unitronic Stage 2 15 A3 with the stock IS20 turbo. Full exhaust, intake, plugs was a consistent 12.8 at 108. I'm now switching to Eurodyne for the ECU tune because I'm going IS38 and it allows you to adjust boost and timing on the fly with the software. So I can turn up the boost simply to make a pass then turn it back down for street driving. I'm keeping the Unitronic DSG tune as I really like the way it performs.

the 381 is estimated crank hp I think. that seems a little low but not too far off the 330-335 avg wheel horsepower

The real question is does it do at least a 12.4 1/4mile as advertised with just turbo back and intake?

It’s because you don’t have an is38 turbo, unitronic clearly says its stage 2+ is on the is38 turbo.
