Doing the same job on my 2004 6x6. I have no idea how it was even shifting at all. Spring was completely gone. Just a lump of rust. I have to replace pawl, shaft, spring. All rusted to chit. Thanks for the vid. Should help when I go to reassemble.
My 2019 XP1000 had the roller break off the shifting paw and get into the transmission. Some of my spider gears ended up with broken teeth. I did not find the roller, just some metal bits in the oil. It shifted so hard the shifter on the dash snapped off one day. I installed a brand new transmission ($2,900) and repaired the original for a spare.
Greatly appreciated the video! That was the problem; I had previously replaced the shift cable about a year ago b/c of @Polaris the cheap-a$$ multi-material connection at the shift handle just broke. These couple of noted shifting issues are definitely weaknesses in the design. I will say though, but for all the crappy shifting since it was bought; at least the transmission seems to hold up ok so far… Spoiler alert!: The turkey at the end was a great closer. 😅
I'm working on a 500cc ranger and got it apart but the single dot on the small gear is on the opposite side when it slides on and there's no way to line it up with the 2 dots on the big gear?
Could this be the problem on mine if when I shift it shows it in each gear on the dash but doesn’t actually shift into other gears and is stuck in neutral? I can move the actuator manually and it clicks like it’s engaging but nothing happens
Thanks for taking the time to help us out. Great vid. Mine is broken with only 250 hrs. Exact same issue. Nice turkey at the end.
Glad it helped

Any time! Yeah, that Turkey likes to follow me around.

@@carldavid4121 finally responding;

Did you just pull / pry the gear seletion sensor off?
Selection sensor on mine had to kind of coxed off little by little. Screw driver one side then the other. Bit by bit. Good luck
@@jimlee5626 Interestingly, mine totally fell apart. it was rusted on. Ordered a new one and got it all back together. Thanks for the help!

Do you put grease inside of there after or no? About to take mine apart
No I didn't.
Did this 100% fix the shifting issue?
Yes, it did.
