    Rough Translation:
There really is nothing that's impossible.
I've waited for this for too long.
Last year was incredibly difficult for me.
I've sometimes thought that it was over for me.
But I just told myself I needed to practice more.
So that one day maybe I could prove myself to everyone.

      9:59:22
I want to say to the viewers who are still watching this now that Nothing is impossible. Even I was able to win a World Championship. I mean Nothing is impossible, really. (starts sobbing ) I think, I've been waiting for this world championship for so long. Last year was really tough for me. At one point (after 0-6), I thought StarCraft was over for me. But I told myself that I should practice more, and more, and more, and if one day I actually won the world championship, maybe i could prove myself to everyone.

Just to add more context for players in EU or NA region: Last month, Blizzard quit China region and shut down all servers, including SC2, WoW, Overwatch, etc. Oliveira rose to the top, from a player community that's dying, where streamers, pro-players and sponsors are leaving. The odds he fought against was way beyond the apparent challenges in the tournament.
As one who started playing SC2 since 2010, I played even before Chinese server started, lived through it, and witnessed the end of it. I actually cried when seeing Oliveira became the champion, and I'm very certain that most Chinese players did the same. It meant so much more than just an underdog story. It's like a emotional farewell to the game, a fulfilled last wish, of those players and streamers who could no longer return to the game they loved.

However, Kotick don't want to talk due to his arrogace and declare that the quit of Blizzard. Then what he do is that he rise up everywhere else's price to cover up the loss.
Overall, Kotick is destroying both Blizzard and all its game. Olivera in IEM Katowice maybe the last person who play SC2 and he said he will declare of retire soon.

Oliveira made a fan out of me this tournament. As an NA player since '98, I genuinely could not ask for a better & more fitting champion than Oliveira winning here. There are so many great players in the tournament, from group stage to finals, all with many stories and paths they took to get here. But after learning his story and what he went through, none of those others can hold a candle to Oliveira's story. It is extremely sad to see SC2 winding down as Blizzard withdraws support and slashes tournament funds, but if there was going to be one last hurrah, one last huge tournament for world champion, I am glad Oliveira won. What a capstone moment, for the player and the game.

Some facts about Blizzard shutting down servers in China: They broke up with their long time partner in China due to pure greed on Blizzard's side. Basically their Chinese partner has been doing all the work, setting up servers, translating, organizing tournaments, promoting, getting all sorts of paper work and permits passed through the government, fighting bots; but they were only getting a very small percentage of the income generated in China while the majority goes to Blizzard (think like 2:8 split when you do 90% of the work). In Blizzard's new CEO's brilliance, he wanted to further cut down the 2:8 split to something less than 1:9, and when the negotiation didn't go as planned (duh), Blizzard HQs went around started spreading rumors about its partner in bad faith, now no agency in China wants to work with Blizzard given its arrogance and greed.

"I want to tell the people who are still watching: There is actually nothing that is impossible. Even I managed to be a world champion, there is really nothing that is impossible..."

"I feel it's (taken) too long to get this world championship (title). Last year was really difficult. After last year's (finances?**) difficulty, it really felt like my time was over. But I told myself if I just kept trying, I can be the world champion."

    • @shimingzhou2462
      @shimingzhou2462 Год назад +68

The difficulty is not about finances, because his family is financially supporting him. It is that he felt rather depressed because there were comments which discouraged him. He compared himself with other young players like clem and reynor and felt that he is less talented. So he has doubted that he would never be able to reach to the top tier and may never achieve something like this. And that is the reason which made him considering retiring from esport. You may have to note that playing games is usually discouraged in mainstream Chinese culture, so he understands that his family is giving more support to him than one should have expected. This might somehow lead to guilt of paying time on games while not achieve something great, because he felt great and unspoken expectations. Yet he overcame the difficulties, and his decision of changing his id from TIME to Oliveira is likely a result of change in mindset.

9:41:53 what a quick thinking by Oliveira. Maru was putting 7 tanks on the top while Oliveira's army is cut off, most players would be too pressured and stressed to react like time did. They would probably play defensive by repairing the OC to stall for more time or probably lift it and lose mining time. Oliveira doesn't even hesitate and send 2 dropships to gun down the tanks, he even has the Vikings ready in anticipation of Maru's air defense. Oliveira has been playing out of his mind this tournament, he doesn't think about anything anymore, he just see the chances and take it. Be it snipping her0's pylons and colossus, forcing trade against Reynor and taking engagements against Maru. Dude just doesn't care, he makes the right decisions in a split second and ends up winning. What a dream run, totally deserve the win! I hope he keep this up and continue playing like a mad man. If he goes back to his old self playing passive and respecting his opponent too much i'd be disappointed.

Non-chinese game makers who want to publish in China for political reasons need to find an agent in China. The two companies cooperate. However, Blizzard was about to be acquired, so in the new round of negotiations, Blizzard put forward many unacceptable requirements in order to obtain more short-term interests, resulting in the termination of the cooperation between the two companies.
