    Jacob i know i would like to see a full assembly, and since your building me a 406 E power adder long block for my 64 Nova Pro Street with a 671 Blower it would be cool to see... Very impressed with Smeding i did alot of reserch this time for a engine builder, have one Blue Print engine which is ok but Blue Print engines is not intrested in building what the Customer wants, maybe your viewers would be curious to see the 2nd key way cut for the blower hub and ATI balancer that is going on it.... Looking forward to the new Bullet and thank you for your content which really made my choice to go with Smeding..

    As a professional painter for over 40 years, you don’t need that super unnecessarily expensive blue masking tape. Regular white 1.5 masking tape is perfect. People always saying “white tape leaves a residue”. I can honestly tell you, the residue police never 👎🏽 came to any of my jobs. If you think you see residue, get some solvent and a rag and wipe the surface

    Your machining looks so much better than what I received on my block 2 weeks ago, I still have to flatten out the passenger side deck because there is a small pieceof metal that wasn't cut. I also found a knick in one of the sleeves. I sanded it down but now it has a dip. I was told since its past the half way point it won't be a problem. I sure hope it isn't.

    Personal preference, but I would put the block drain plug in before paint - they sit around a while, and... I'd rather be scraping paint off a fitting then having the hex round out when I do need to remove it. Really nicely done all around.
    Question: is it even possible to setup an shp block for an external oil pump?

    That block has to much oil drainage from lifter valley on to the crank , i
    Would close those slots off grind block to exit oil from ends to keep it
    Off crank. Also it has 406 cu. Ins. In a 265 cu. In. Case, the outside never
    Got bigger just inside,therefore it needs a crankcase evac system to
    Releive presssure from 406 cubes! If not it will blow gaskets,done that,

    When I worked in a machine shop, we always torqued the main caps when block plate honing but I don't know if it makes any difference because block plate honing itself makes only a very small difference. Like almost none.

    • @tonyelliott7734
      @tonyelliott7734 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@lollipop84858
      I did it because when the main caps are torqued it simulates how things would be stressed when the engine is assembled and running like with the torque plate. Like I said before, using a torture plate makes so little of a difference there's no need to measure each bore after removing it. It makes the most difference on an engine where the head bolt holes in the deck are very close to the bores like a SBC 400. It's not something a regular automotive machine shop generally measures to see the difference.

    • @JacobVillemain

      Yes they would. You should always hone with the same style fasteners you plan to build the engine with. This engine is getting head bolts

    • @Sir.VicsMasher
      @Sir.VicsMasher 3 года назад
