I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now, and so enjoy you sharing your adventures with us. When you do the meal prep it is interesting to see how you make a tasty meal with a few ingredients and maybe one pot and the ridge monkey. (A device I had never heard of before watching your channel). Long story longer😂.. we just went through Hurricane Ian and we’re lucky to have only minor inconveniences…no water, no electricity, no cell service for 4 days. But, (finally getting to the point), I have a little camping hot plate stove, and thanks to having watched your food preps, we had some hot meals with a bit of this and a bit of that. So, thanks for the inspiration. (All our services are restored, unfortunately too many people will be having hardships for a while😢).

I totally agree on your comment about the yapping dogs. In fact just as i said out loud 'train your dogs' you said it. The dog should never be the boss.

BUT the issue of Dog Aggression, a dog acting like that toward other dogs (sometimes motorcycles, skateboards, etc.) is the single most difficult dog behavior to fix and it is inaccurate that a stigma be associated with it. Thanks so much for the videos! You both and they are a bright spot in my life!

Very often during late spring/summer/early autumn, I set off out to take my dog a walk before sunrise and sometimes it's around 4 a.m. when I leave the house. I'm only a few minutes walk from the canal, river and fab countryside, so it's lovely at that time of day watching the sunrise and listening to the birds wake up etc., whilst it's lovely and quiet. The ducks and geese though are quite noisy at that time of day, so I can sympathise with you Ken.........they are definitely not good for anyone that's a light sleeper etc. By the way, my dog has learning difficulties (diagnosed by the vet) and can at times be like that dog in the video......it's not a lack of training on my part, so sometimes it's not the owner's fault.

It’s a very special time of the day and not many people get to experience it.
In my day every police constable started their career walking the beat alone. After 2am the world got very quiet and it was just me and the cats walking around. If it was raining I used to just stand in the shadows and watch. I would see all sorts of wildlife wandering around. I used to love the faint glow of the sun as then I didn’t have long left till the end of the shift. You can do your very best thinking at that time of the day 👍

Only four weeks ago I went for a walk along the canal from your duck parking, but fortunately for me I was using the campsite three miles up the road and I therefore got a good night's sleep. It cost me €16 and included water and drainage on the pitch, 16A electricity, vide chimique, access to heated sanitary block, and bread delivered in the morning if I wanted it.
Each to their own, but I think it is a good idea to put a bit of money back in to the communities I am visiting.

Hi Ken and Carol, you could complain to the ducks but you Canard-ly expect them to listen. We know you had Chicken for your supper but perhaps they thought you might want them tomorrow. I once stayed near Southwell for a night, backed up to a bank where there were obviously Rabbit holes. About four in the morning they all started thumping about. I never knew Rabbits could be so noisy and disruptive. Sill it's as you say, it's their turf and not ours. So I suppose we should like it or lump it. 🤔😬Oh I meant to say I really like the fly catching idea but the possibility of flicking yourself in the eye bothers me a it. Maybe we could have a technical demo in the next one. 👍

Loving this series. Don't really know this area. On the burgers, for reference your next French trip, the 100% pur boeuf only means beef only, not a mixture of beef and other meat. The fat percentage was 5%, the lowest here in France. You can also find 15% or even 25% fat, but that just means more fat not more flavour really. You can sometimes get them with added salt, or a sort of mix for bolognaise, but they don't add other seasonings. So it's best to mash up the meat with your own seasonings then reshape into burgers. Same thing for "hachis parmentier" which looks like cottage pie. If you ever order it, be aware that it will be much less tasty than British cottage pie.

Another great video! Sorry about the noisy ducks. We once stayed at a B&B (Vancouver, Ca Worlds Fair in 1986) whose neighbors had a chicken coop. No problem until about 4:30 AM when the rooster(s) decided it was time for the whole neighborhood to wake up! Now we try to avoid staying near any kind of birds, too much noise and filth.

Totally agree with you. We stayed on a small caravan site once that kept chickens. The flies were so bad we left after one night!

Next time you come to France a visit to the glass factory at d arques is well worth the journey. Check out thru internet the opening times. In France the mark is known as Cristal d arques.
May be you have done this trip before.

Oh you do make me long for a campervan. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get back on the road again.
In the meantime I am enjoying traveling vicariously with and your adventures.
The dogs reacting is not always the owners fault. You never know the history of the dog, they maybe rescue or have had a bad experience. Reactivity is often due to anxiety, it can be poor handling, but is often more complex than that.

Agreed but then again youtube is full of videos showing ferocious dogs being tamed very quickly once you embrace the psychology of the dog.

Your drone shots of the areas where you park for the night really show how beautiful the landscape is.
Don't worry Ken like you I really hate people who turn up at a beauty spot and force others to listen too their choice of music, your comment about the dog not being under control is true I was brought up with big dogs and never had any problems when my late father was in the police force a dog handler showed me the correct way to hold a lead so that if the dog pulled you could stop it before the situation got out of control that guy was only using one hand so the dog new it was in control two hands you had double pull back.
I am totally against chock chains as collars a well trained and brought up dog does not need such barbaric things, sadly whilst out today I came across a guy with an Alsatian with a muzzle fitted to stop it biting so another person who doesn't know how to control their animal.

Those sweeping drone shots of the French countryside were fanstatic Ken and the music superb. The gastronomy side just rounded it all off perfectly. Well, except for the 100% beef burgers. Carol seemed more tolerant of the nightime ducks; I'm on Ken's side, I like my sleep. 😉

What a wonderful video! I discovered this morning, after checking the map to see how far down the coast one might find Saigneville, that the coastline is actually a riverbank and Saigneville is actually just a couple of hours from Paris. Did you entertain the notion at any point to pull into the train station and spend a delightful afternoon in the City of Lights?
I had no idea that ducks spend an all night vigil on the watch for any number of predators! Stands to reason, actually, but my exposure to and knowledge of ducks has been remarkably minimal. I did wander if you would wake to an unplanned pre-dawn alarm system. As it turns out, you did a fair amount of your own predawn hours protecting your digs from an aquatic ornithological invasion. What a life! But as I am shopping for my own version of your little red camper, I learned a good lesson on where NOT to park in this video. Thank you, then, for more than just your usual cinematographic genius but also for a good lesson on things to avoid when parking up for a nights rest. You have my thanks! And this IS a video of some excellent filming. I sincerely LOVE the genius that is your occasional shot of the map, truly!!!
