    PSA: KNOW YOUR ABUSE.
Cutting someones hair against their consent is legally treated as physical assault. This is emotional and physical abuse. Know that for many people, a persons hair holds extreme sentimental value and can be their outlet for expressing themselves especially culturally. Unlike taking away a gadget or privileges, cutting hair as punishment affects a child's autonomy over his or her physical body, potentially damaging a crucial developmental stage, and it could also blur the concept of consent.

My 11 yr old sister came to me after our mother did this to her. Half her hair was to her shoulders and the other half was short, and she just walls up to and hands me the same scissors mother used and gave this look of can-you-fix-this-absolute-monstrosity. So naturally, as the one who's been cutting all three of my sisters hair for the past 8 years so we weren't spending 80 bucks per haircut, I threw the scissors in the bin and pull out my kit. Locked the bathroom door, texted my twin sister to be bodyguard and distract mother if she came close to the main bathroom, wrapped my little sister in a salon poncho, pulled out my clippers, combs, clips, and hair scissors and went to work.
I asked her if I could do a split look and work with the different lengths. She said yes but then asked for a shorter Venus McFlytap hairstyle. I was so excited to do a side shave buzzcut, unlike the full buzz cut I did to my twin sister a few months prior to this. Little sister had platinum blonde hair, I had a secret stash of A LOT of hair dyes, we could actually do the full look. Hot pink and joker green streaks in the bob side and the buzz cut was dyed hot pink. First time having colour in hair and she was obsessed.
Then when mother left for work we finished up and left the bathroom to show the other too sisters. My twins hair is a curly short boy cut that is *still* silver and has little hot pink it's from the leopard print dye I did on the buzzcut, I still had my neon orange and red ombre hair, and my 7 year old sister want to join in on the fun too.
So I go back into the bathroom to dye my baby sisters hair, she also had platinum blonde hair so no bleach was needed, and she wanted the underlayers two different colors, green and red for Christmas last year, so I did two layers, bottom most layer was bright red. And a thin layer just above it, neon green. Mother worked the last shift that night so everything was packed up and hidden in a little secret safe in our bedroom ceiling mother doesn't know about, she gets home and sees that now her two youngest have as crazy hair as her two "disrespectful and hateful" older twin kids.
It's so funny seeing her tune the house upside down trying to find the stuff we used and any rubbish remains in the bins. There's literally no evidence we even got it done in the house so there a chance she might think we go to a friend's place to get it done, but she doesn't know any of our friends because we hang out with eachother at school and keep all interactions with our her kids secret from her. Even our friends parents and our teachers are in on it. She gets so mad it's honestly funny to think she's so pressed about these trivial matters. I don't even know why she cut my sisters hair in the first place, but t doesn't matter because now she looks badass.
F you mother, you can't bring a single one of us down, not while I'm around

I remember my parents hitting me but only until like i was 8, 10 and that too slaps on my back nothing too much and it never did really hurt cuz the other parent would always protect us. If you hit your child for disobedience they are just going to disobey you more. I love my parents but as a child I was scared to anger them not cuz they would hit me, they never really did but cuz they would scold me, i didn't want them to get angry so i would try to not do anything bad and even if i did i would apologise and now as a teen I love my parents the most and they are me best friends , I still get scolding for what is not right and instead of arguing i listen to them and i understand them and that is how you maintain good relationship with your children. I really think my parents are really good parents, I am not saying they didn't make mistakes they might have but still my brother and I are really close to them and we love them. So yeah try not to hit the child as much as you can.

You know there was this news story about a father cutting his daughters hair off even shaving it cause the mum (seperated) got her highlighters in her hair for her birthday. They took him to court for emotional damage as the girl was 14 I think and devastated as you can imagine and they won. When I was 9 I had beautiful hair all the way down my back but because no one ever showed me how to take care of it, when my mother brushed it it felt like she was going to detach my head from my body and no one ever thought to use detangling spray or literally anything other than cheap shampoo and conditioner on my hair, it constantly was tangled so my mother took me to the hairdresser and had her put into a ponytail and hacked off to donate it to kids with cancer because they would 'appreciate it more'. It was a bowl cut level with the tops of my ears. My hair is now over 60cm long and I haven't had a hair cut in almost 7 years, I also have a son of my own now and if anyone touches a hair on his little head without his express permission I'm going to rip out each hair individually until they're completely bald including eyebrows and lashes.

She was jealous of my red hair which is why she never took care of my hair. I always had sores on my head. She would take me to the salon and they would brush my hair out gently and I’d beg to keep it long and my mom would say no and they’d cut it into a pixie cut. After everything we went through and finally reaching a point in our young adult life we all just kinda woke up and left the church. We stopped giving our parents the satisfaction of hurting us. Now we're healing from everything, some of us in relationships seeing the trama we've been through and reacting horribly to love and kindness. We would bring things up to our parents for them to understand why we react or have changed because what they out us through, only to be met with gaslighting and manipulation. Growing up with a narcissist mother and father who couldn't control his anger was wild. I'm glad to say that it's been a process, but healing is possible 💕 You choose your family!

I knew a girl in middle school who's dad this to her. She had the longest, most luscious, thick and shiny hair. One day she came into chorus class and all of it was chopped up into a short, uneven bob. She told everyone her dad did it as a "joke", but im sure everyone knew. She was always the type of person to be loud and funny, but after that, she changed.
As an adult I'm not sure if she talks to her dad or not, but I wouldn't blame her if she didn't.

This reminded me of a time where my father wanted to cancel my 10th birthday party. I just shrugged my shoulders and said fine. Later he came to me and asked me why I didn’t react.
Five years forward, my parents are divorced, and he gets a new girlfriend and he is scared to talk to me about because he fears a reaction.

I had a friend who had long hair like me when we were in elementary/ middle school. We loved having long hair and were very proud of it. Her mom on the other side for some reason had an obsession with wanting to cut her hair short. My friend of course refused to cut it, she took good care of it so there was really no reason for her mom’s obsession besides being weird and controlling. So, one night, she chopped her hair while she was sleeping. It was all messy so she had to go to a hairdresser to make it all even. It was horrifying and she was devastated for a really long time. I still don’t know why she did it, my friend was an overall respectful and nice kid, she never got in any trouble, it was very bizarre
