I have never understood the extreme hate for FFXIII. It was an I credible title and an incredible trilogy and had the name Final Fantasy not been attached to it, it would have been spectacular. Launching in a generation when everything was black and brown, the game was amazingly colored, vibrant and well polished. It has some of the best tactics in the game. The soundtrack is ethereal. Some people are just too entrenched in their echo-chambers and subject to peer-pressure. FF 13 (and its sequels) was overall a decent game (not without flaws of course) and even well received in most areas of the world. It's just a by-product of other games in the series being more beloved and the fact that 13 was the first game in the main series to do away almost entirely with the turn-based aspect present in all previous mainline FF games. There's a hate-boner for the series in the west mainly because of those aspects with people unable to set aside their bias to critically evaluate it. They'll point at anything and everything to justify their dislike for it. Similarly, language barriers also play a role. If all you do is speak one language and only listen to the most vocal people that speak the same language as you, it's easy to fall into the trap of assuming everyone everywhere else also shares your opinion/mindset. Even then, if you look around, FF 13 has a mostly positive reception, nowhere near as high as other installments in the series, but it is mostly positive.
Couldn’t agree any more! While Square always experiments with new features in each FF installment, they made a lot of bold, polarizing design choices with FFXIII (e.g. the intentionally linear storytelling and exploration) so naturally there was vocal dissent upon its release.
Go back in time, play FFXII and then jump into FFXIII and you will see why. We go from the most open FF game with sidequests, hunts, exploration, towns and very customizable party builds to the most linear, non explorable world that is so restictive in how you build your party and who you can control and have in your party to the point it feels like a tutorial for the first 30 hours, also no towns, party leader dying=game over which especially sucks when you are forcee to use Hope and Vanille. Major disappointment.
The SFX and aesthetic are very nicely done. It's one of those PS3 games that actually wasn't yellow/brown/underwater-looking. Some of the visual elements, like Cocoon as a place, had insane potential. The trilogy, if it pulled away from the vapid characterization, could probably be written into a high quality sci-fi novel.
@@AKABoondock19 nope it wasnt , ff 13 was damn good , i dont need bloated pointless open worlds like in ff16 ( which for me was the worst FF ever ). it was a focused story ff
@jackplisken4738 the co.bat was more fun in ff16. So no matter what his point stands. Ff13 was boring experience. The combat was a slog. And it required you to just spam attacks and spam healing. It mever fully felt throughout
XIII actually had a planned DLC. It was called the Seventh Ark, and was pretty much a bonus dungeon that contained a planned superboss. But this content was scrapped. But data miners managed to find it in the game’s code. There’s videos of it too
@@ultimachain8677 Well... Us who grew up with FF XIII kids who are now are adults probably feel very differently about the game than you oldies do. For me personally it was my first FF game, and I loved it. Is it flawed? Absolutely. But it's also not nearly as bad as some make it out to be.
@@stephen_b remember my 1st time encouraging FFXIII was on - Vizio Tv in 2012 I though this how at the time all FF games where supposed to look but man one year later when my bro told me play FFXIII on the on the PS3 with blu ray yea by far its better on the PS3 well up until I bought it on Steam & 2019 of course the frames are why smoother on steam but PS3 & Steam Version of FFXIII graphics are still breathe taking
About the long battles, one thing I learned on a second playthrough was that I had vastly underestimated the value of the sabeteur and synergist classes. Not only that, but certain areas were designed to make you use these classes to fight effectively. I forget what it's called, but the area where you only have Vanille and Sahz is an absolute grind if you aren't using those, but much better when you are. It made me realize that I was doing that area all wrong, and that it was a deliberate choice to give me those classes at that time with just those two characters. I understand the complaints about not giving you all classes at the start, but it's really very intentional and I wouldn't change it.
I have waited for this for so long. The game was not the greatest, but overall still a part of Final Fantasy. I have a PS3 just because of these games.
@@TheGingiGamer It's not like those are bad games at all either lol, the combat system is actually pretty fun, visually was ahead of its time, and music is as always just incredible.
@TheGingiGamer I know, but most games are either remade or compiled into a collection. Most of my favorite games are already accessible on a newer system (PS4/PS5)
@darshio8307 I remember when Final Fantasy 13 came out and my girlfriend would just watch me play because of how great the game looked. I was so enthralled by the graphics (at the time) that I really overlooked how the story was lacking the content I really liked. And now, as a conpletionist, I hate that both 13 and 11 are unavailable for me to play on my current console experience. I really would enjoy an 11 offline version. I do have to say that 13 now is ranked as one of my least favorite in the series, but that's because the story was linear, the actual backstory to everything was pushed to readable text within the game rather than incorporated into the story (like FFX), and the game story needs to be completed BEFORE you get to chase down the best weapons, not even an alternative ending for so much grind AFTER completing the game. Sad.
To echo your thoughts, a XIII remaster with the improvements of XIII-2 would go a long way. I'd also like a hard mode where the party members have a stagger gauge, and can get staggered like enemies can. The party member's stagger gauge could change depending on the equipment used. It could be a cool way to punish poor strategy. A remaster could take some inspiration from Legend of Legaia where certain ATB commands placed in specific orders would be a combo that would result in more damage and other passive effects. This would encourage players to try out the different commands that they unlock.
It has to happen eventually. It's the only set of games (excluding XI I suppose) that you can't play on PS5. PC version is also kinda shit too, but mods do help.
Upgraded my PC about 2 years ago, from a 8700k & 2070 Super to a 13700k & 4080 and one of my first thought was “Maybe i can get a consistent 60 fps in FF13 now”.
I disagree with you on LR being not updated because it's the worst looking of the three games with huge cutbacks. It needs the most work. XIII needs a few tweaks specially in the area of crystarium being more streamlined and opened up in terms of roles. But yeah xiii is perfect t as it is.
100% agree with you. Lightning Returns' graphics were a noticeable downgrade from its predecessors, likely due to the more open world structure. It would benefit hugely from a graphical remaster if nothing else
It needs to lose the restrictions it puts on your party for the first 30 hours, no leader dying=game over BS either. No forced party leaders and members in battle, why should I have to be forced to use Hope and Vanille when Snow, Lightning and Sazh are right there, leaders should only be forced during each of their Eidolon battles and thats it. No crystiarium cap at certain points in the story either. If it makes these changes I'll play it again
Given that this is a trilogy and not separate games like the pixel remasters, I fully expect the FFX/X-2 treatment. I don't think they'd bother releasing them separately, it just doesn't make sense to me 'cause it'd be hard to make it affordable, and they'd have to print way more physical copies. I HOPE this is coming, I've been wanting FFXIII on PS4/5 for so long, and it seems like a great time now that we finally have 1-6 remastered on all platforms. I've got XIII on PC, but it really needs a remaster and some QoL upgrades to make the combat more interesting early on. Originally played XIII on Xbox 360, but my disk died and I just never got a new one, so I never finished the game. I'd love to finally play through it and actually get to play XIII-2 'cause I've always wanted to
From an objective standpoint, the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy was met with mixed-to-negative reception, as the series progressed. While the first installment received praise for its visuals and combat system, criticism mounted due to its linearity and storytelling. As the sequels (XIII-2 and Lightning Returns) were released, sales figures steadily declined, reflecting diminishing fan interest. Given these factors, a full remaster of the XIII trilogy may not be financially viable for Square Enix. With declining demand and critical response, the potential return on investment for a remaster appears slim, especially when compared to more successful and nostalgic titles in the franchise that offer better commercial potential.
Given the apparent sales trajectory of the FF7 remake trilogy, this is a mystifying decision by Square-Enix. The law of diminishing returns will hit the 13 series especially hard given its history. Imagine if the money pored into this remaster was instead dedicated to a Chrono Trigger reboot? That would generate some real excitement. A bit risky if they messed it up, but Square-Enix needs to break themselves out of this rut my making bold decisions.
Currently going through XIII right now and as an avid Ever Crisis player, I'm really digging XIII's game design. I don't really mind the game's uber-linearity as I'm currently exhausted with today's obsession with open-world, and the combat is very similar with Ever Crisis. Really hoping for FFXIII Remaster after Toriyama and the gang wrap things up with the Remake trilogy.
If this is true, I'm buying all 3 not caring about the price. FFXIII was my introduction to the Final Fantasy franchise. Still have the games on PS3. I hope this is real.
@jachyra4 then people just say "but it has more side content and you can go where you want after a certain point" which yeah you can but apart from the calm lands its still a linear hallway you are running around. I like X but that was one of the biggest issues I had with it was its linearity.
All Final Fantasy's have a linear story progression. When people talk about it being "too linear" they are talking about level design. As in if the game could have put you on a literal rail and drove you through the story it would have looked very similar to how FF13 played.
I always hate this comparison. FFX has side content, towns with NPCs, and dungeons with puzzles. You can like 13 but the “X was linear too” argument doesn’t sit right with me.
Lmao at all the "No I didn't like it, so no remaster please" comments. If you don't like the game obviously a remaster of it wouldn't be made for you. Why should people who want a remaster be denied one just because you haven't gotten over a game that disappointed you more than 10 years ago? 🤣
@@RaddyC The cost of a Remaster isn't nearly as expensive compared to making a new game or a full Remake. Especially since there are PC versions of the FFXIII games already made. They just need to rebalance/enhance those PC versions and port them to Consoles. A remastered trilogy could sell less than 1 million copies and still profitable easily.
@@RaddyC The sells ratings were mixed in the West. In Japan it sold well because the Japanese gamers loved the 13 trilogy. They were also the ones who requested Square Enix to make the sequels. Lighting, Serah, Vanille were even rated the top 3 favorite female FF characters in a Japanese poll, while in the West it was Tifa, Rinoah, & Garnet. Lightning has even appeared in a lot of huge collaboration advertisements such as a car commercial, a Sony commercial, and Louis Vuitton advertisements. I recall seeing those adds in my last Japan trip in Ginza at a shopping mall. FF 13 was very popular in Japan. At the end they might be the ones requesting a remaster and couldn’t care less of the opinion of the West. Sure sells won’t meet Square’s expectations in the West, but it will do well in sells in Japan due to its popularity.
Fabulous Nova Crystallis had great potential but many flaws The fact that XIII even came out at all with all of the trials and errors it went through let alone spawning sequels is a feat of it's own "Versus XIII" XV got cancelled rebrand had a new director and a different take on the story probably not as good as the original but will never know "AgitoXIII" Type-0 this one turned out how it was supposed to well aside from rebranding it's name and the tease at the end for a potential sequel that will never see the light of day not to mention the weird mobile titles it tried it's best Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII This never got the chance to turn into anything not even a trailer
I've only ever played it once. I would like the ability to play it again and see if I still feel the same way about it but it's locked on Ps3 and my blu ray eye went out.
Honestly, they should remaster this. FXIII trilogy are the only games they didn't remaster and port to newer consoles, which is weird. My PS3 is broken and disc was missing. Even though I can order refurbished PS3 consoles (which I don't fully trust but i may have to risk it at one point) and PS3 game, I think it's better they remaster this. They may not be a perfect game but they're still fun to play. Otherwise, PSN should just add that to classic section. Dunno why they didn't add it to there.
I love ya, Prince , but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with your take on FFXIII's growth system and how it doesn't fully open up until near the endgame; they designed it that way on purpose for the sake of ludonarrative cohesion. The heavy linearity early on is supposed to reflect the story and characters, a group of strangers suddenly made fugitives while having to contend with new powers they don't understand, barely able to trust each other nevermind anyone else, and forced into a strict survival situation: keep moving forward, or lay down and die. It's a contentious choice, certainly, and you're more than welcome to dislike it, but don't expect this remaster to completely uproot the system when it was clearly an intentional design choice.
I get what you’re saying, and I appreciate the thoughtful post. I suppose my idea is that games should be based around what aspects of that story would make a game fun and as well as believable. XIII’s growth system doesn’t make it fun, even if its linearity plays into the story better. What could’ve better emphasized survival and being a fugitive would be something like a stealth mechanic-actually having characters sneak around and work as fugitives do, rather just say, putting them in a long hallway.
I totally agree with your assessment of FFXIII which I think a lot of people didn't get which turned folks off about FFXIII. I'm one of those who got it far as why there weren't any side quests or towns to visit like in traditional FF games, basically the gist & formula of why the game was structured to be. I do believe had S-E made FFXIII a separate game without it being a numbered FF or a game in the FF universe folks would have been more forgiving. The game still sold well & was a big hit in Japan. FFXIII is one of my favorite top FF games & I hope there is a remaster, I prefer the original over the 2 XIII sequels.
I agree There’s really nothing to improve on from XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. But it would be nice if they gave us the option to play without the doomsday clock.
Lightning Returns is one of the ebst open world games by square besides rebirth. It has great puzzles. It has really fun quests too. XIII LR has moments of party member so it is possible to have party members but I don't think it would benefit much with it.
Lightning Returns made a significant departure from the rest of the Final Fantasy series, similar only to the MMORPGs. If the first FFXIII had incorporated the improvements seen in FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns, I believe it could have been a major success.
Night sky what games from Square Enix do I want back from the PlayStation graveyard as a Yoko taro fan Drakengard 3 &1( Drag-On Dragoon 3 &1). Remake's reincarnation and automata. The bouncer should be remarked some older DQ games on PS2. FF1 to FF9 being remade. Same for FF11
So the only thing I would change would be to add an easy mode for those whe struggle with a particular boss fight, and allow you to change party leader while in battle like you can in the sequel. Most of the other grievances that everyone else has, such as the "hallway simulator" accusation or the fact that you are limited to certain roles for most of the game, are actually justifiable design choices when one considers how those aspects are tied to story points.
Please, for the love of God be true! I've wanted it for so long! But.. I just hope there won't be any censorship which sadly might be a tall order these days..
I dont see the discount thing happening because you have a game from 2 generations again. Has any company done that? If they are going to do a remaster, they need to go the Zodiac route where the remaster actually has some real game changing changes
tried playing this game twice, both times I gave up 6-8 hours in. Hopefully they revise it and make it worth playing. I would be iwlling to try it a third time if it's a full remake.
The reason I'm cool with party leader death being a game over in Persona but not FFXIII is that in Persona, planning can see you immune to Hama and Mudo. In XIII, the best you get is a *chance* of resisting death via an accessory, and the second to final boss has a random chance of inducing death every time his sword drops. Aw man, you know another trope P3 dealt with really well? A character getting envious of your power. Instead of lasting the rest of the game, you do another couple of dungeons and he decides to drop it altogether, and respect you instead.
Immediately lost me at the $50 price tag and discount, not to mention “turn off random battles”. There were no random battles. I do hope that XIII will get some love soon, it would be amazing if they did a remake instead of remaster though since that squarenix tweet hinted at it.
I hope it comes out next years. 13 is the only ff I don't have the platinum for excluding spin offs. Imo lightning dying causing a game over makes more sense than persona because you only control 1 character, in persona you control the party. Never bothered me. Also I prefer only controlling 1 person with the paradigm shift. I don't see how you can manage multiple people with a system like that.
I think introducing an expert crystarium that allows you to choose characters roles from the beginning is a good idea, just make it a choice at the beginning of the game like they did with the expert sphere grid in the FFX Remaster. I think the whole keeping the party leader alive or you lose should stay though because without it this game loses any inkling of a challenge. There's a reason XIII-2 feels so much easier to beat and being able to just swap when one party member dies is a big part of it.
While gameplay wise keeping the paradime system majorly locked for the majority of the game. Narratively the idea that you are stuck in pre selected spots till you leave the planet that is being controlled by the fal'cie makes sense. On pulse the characters can explore more about themselves. Their world grows bigger and they can find out who they are without the hand of would be gods that dictate their choices for them.
If a remastered version of the FFXIII trilogy ever officially released, I would be one of the first to pre-order the full shebang. I can appreciate tweaking some gameplay aspects for sure, but I can understand the party limitations, as much of that in the early game was due to who was in your story narrative-wise at that point of the game. I don't even necessarily feel like these games needs remasters, as they look and play so great today, but I love the buzz they're getting due to the possibility. They were so damn much fun! Loved the battle, the story, even the way it played out for you.
I also can't believe that there is not a remaster coming at some point. It's odd that this is the only main line game that isn't playable on current gen at all, not to mention they have redone almost all of the other titles so it just makes sense. But there is no way in hell this is correct with that price tag. They'd just be setting it up for failure. Though I could see them doing a X-X2 style remaster for the 13 series.
Back in 2009 I was quite aware of final fantasy to the point I tried doing fan games in rpg maker XP but I had never played one first hand. Them my first game was XIII. And only because of that I have enough nostalgia for it to see it with rose tinted glases and tolerate it despite it's flaws more than anyone would. Andnzi still had issues learning the weird terms like L'cie and fal'cie. But after a couple playthroughs I feel like I mastered that game. And then went and played older entries to fall in love with the series. The one zi have never touched or gotten spoiled is IX. Saving it for a special occasion but if this rumor is true, I wouldm't mind paying full price if they fix one thing with XIII and that is party leader dying. Otherwise I can just mod the original and make it look good enough. No random battles and insta level up is not interesting to me. I like playing the game. But it'd be cool for ps owners to have all of the games
chapter of 13 means +100h of play maybe, because on FF15 i'm at +200H at chapter 8 >< 8:25 : it's why i like ff15 : Characters speak / react of what you doing, so the pace is never broke.
With Square's recent report of FF7 Rebirth and FF16 not meeting sales expectations I think working on a FF13 remake trilogy in this point of time is unrealistic for Square. While there are aspects of 13 I liked and I agree it would benefit from a remake I think Square should focus on FF17 and how they're going to draw in more people to the franchise.
Context is king! The thing with FF7 Rebirth an FF16 is that they have big budgets. These are games created from the ground up, including every step of the creation process. The cost of remastering or even remaking the 13 trilogy pales in comparison by orders of magnitude. If you look at a game like FF7R1 which is estimated to have cost around 200Mil to make, it would need to sell ~2.85Mil copies at 70$ just to break even (and that's before costs and other cuts). To be considered a success it would need to sell double or more. Comparatively, even if they bundle the FF13 trilogy games together and sell only 1 mil copies at 50$ That's still ~50Mil revenue (yes cuts and all that, same as above). These are conservative numbers but it's perfectly doable to remake/remaster the 3 games within the stated budget. It's literally impossible to make a game like FF7 or 16 with it. So invariably, the sales numbers become far more important for those games (particularly on release/full price), especially when there are few or no DLC involved for extra revenue. FF 13 trilogy selling 2 mil copies would be a commercial success. FF7 or FF 16 selling anything less than 5 Mil copies would be a commercial failure.
They don’t have the remake it they can remaster it and just add features that weren’t in the original game like switching your party members mid battle or somethjng like that they have the ability to mess with stuff that’s already in the game
@@JasonVelez-q7g That's true, they don't have to do what they did with 7Remake. A remaster with like you said added features wouldn't hurt. I play through 13 once but want to give it another chance, so if they do decide to do this then I would. (:
The games are on sale right now, but FFXIII is currently $6 on Steam, while XIII-2 and LR are $20. So yeah, right now all 3 on Steam are like ~$50 after taxes. My biggest problem with XIII as a game, is that all of the encounters are pre-mapped. The game is linear, and the encounters are placed on the world with specific layouts. This means every subsequent replay fights the exact same enemy formations at the exact same spots, the entire time. There's no encounter variety at all between playthroughs.
I think a remaster for the sequels would be great to update the character models. A visual downgrade was really obvious with XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. There were points where LR had N64 textures. You could tell that the sequels were made on a budget.
I stupidly bought into the hate train of FFXIII back around release. I never played it again but I watched the cinematic story from start to finish on RUclips and wow…I was instantly immersed into 13’s world. I kick myself to this day for not being able to experience this immersion in game. So yeah, I would buy this in a heartbeat if it got released.
I never got to beat the first one on the 360. For some reason the linearity messed my head up. Even if FFX was favorite of all, at the time ( on release). Looking forward to play this on a switch hopefully
So, a big complaint of original FFXIII is the whole "it's so linear" argument and people mad because they can't really explore or interact with towns/NPCs. I will, forever and always, refute such claims because the story itself tells you why you can't do any of those things. It's more than just a fugitive story, it's also a pandemic story. Pulse and anything from it or that has remotely made contact with it is treated like the plague; something we've all kinda experienced with covid now with the same fears and isolation when everything first started. It wouldn't make sense for our main cast to really interact with other people or feel the need to explore the area when they know pretty much where they're going in those early chapters, on top of them being turned into ticking time bombs. It also ignores the fact that 2 of the Cocoon chapters do actually involve going into public areas, so we see what happens when they try to hide among the crowd and why they can't for long (at least in Sazh and Vanille's case). There's also the fact that the world opens up immensely once you get to Pulse. I also kinda like the limited roles in the beginning chapters of the game as it really does make you learn the battle system, but it also makes sense from a narrative perspective. In those Cocoon chapters, everyone has their own agenda and chooses to do what's best for them. Their initial roles reflect that sense of ego and individuality as we learn the motives of each character, but as the story goes on, then each character gets a 3rd role that shows their growth in relationship to traveling with another person and learning to rely on someone else. Then all roles don't become available to you until all the characters are together and united as a team does the true flexibility of things click because it's no longer about what's best for the individual, but as the whole group. It's a very nuanced way of storytelling through gameplay that you don't see often. I do think a remake of FFXIII will be the better route than the remaster, just for the sake of expanding storytelling so that you don't have to read every datalog to get what's going on in the background and maybe making secondary characters more relevant to the story (Jihl, Yaag, Cid) or tie in future characters to the lore (Caius and Yuel). And my one personal gripe, find a way to speed up the chapters before becoming a l'Cie because that first couple of hours are riding on visuals and intrigue because gameplay before the Crystarium is a slog to get through.
honestly, I could see SE doing something like this, and it kinda makes sense financially. They're going for a cash-grab, which they kinda need. Lets be honest, everyone knows it takes like 3-5 years for a AAA title, and rather than risking so much time/effort on another big title that could or could not do super well for the company, they're potentially releasing this 'remaster'; which again, would be easy to complete, because they already have the assets, the systems, the characters, the worlds etc.. all they need to do is throw some new paint on it, some new shaders and some new system tweaks etc.. its always way easier to update ur existing property rather than taking a chance on something entirely brand new..
I'm replaying FFXIII on Steam now with all the graphics mods, and honestly the biggest criticism I have is the lack of control of all party members. In some occasions, the AI just does complete dogshit things and there's no way to control what they do, so in that respect I'd love to see that being reworked with some AI options similar to gambits from FFXII, or even better if they just let us control our entire party. I wouldn't be surprised if they re-release these games at some point but this rumour seems like a load of nonsense. The thing that gave it away for me is when they said "turn off random encounters". This game doesn't really have random encounters in that you have to specifically run into the enemies to trigger a battle. The vast majority of the battles in the game can be avoided by just running around the enemies, so this doesn't really need to be a QoL feature at all. There are some narrow corridors where you are almost forced into battles, or some which take some planning to avoid but for the most part you are not forced into encounters in this game. Also, while I'm not saying I wouldn't take a remixed OST, as the OST was fantastic in XIII, I think it's less likely they do this since it wasn't done in MIDI like the older PS2 and PS1 games. As far as I'm aware, they used real instrument samples for FFXIII so there's less need to do a rearranged soundtrack compared to other games in the series.
You get it, and no leader dying=game over, no being forced to control specific characters and let me choose who I want to have active in battle if there are more than 3 party members at any given time.
I imagine that Square would go the FF10 route and bundle them together because almost no one will buy FF13-2 on its own if they haven't played the first game.
If the sales from a FF7 remake aren't enough to satisfy Square Enix (being their most popular property), I don't think a true FF6 remake will do that either, so I agree with you on your insane take despite FF6 being my favorite one. That being said, I only played FF13 once for like 30 minutes but now that I own a PS3 I might take a shot at it.
thing is...the FF13 trilogy on the xbox backwards compatible already upgraded/remaster... only FF13 is still locked at 30fps is something they could've updated back then

graphics don't mean shit if the game is not fun to play. I turned this game off after 15 minutes.
There’s videos of it too
13-2 is very fun to play!
Agreed! Loved the monster catching system
I loved XIII-2. I liked XIII as well but the second one was way better for sure.
very...I loved my chocobo team.
Its the best of the trilogy gameplay wise, loved it
I love the entirety of the trilogy. Some of my favorite games
Final Fantasy XIII is underrated. With some proper QoL changes, it could be awesome.
First of all, modifying combat system.
@combatgeek Yes please especially for FF13 because the whole once the leader dies you get a game over which was very dumb
It is perfectly rated as not good
@@combatgeek Yes for sure. And how slow it is when you switch paradigms
13 is a great game… I’d preorder it yesterday
I'll say it again FF13 graphics was still head of it's time..
I agree. Thats why im still stuck on those wonderful trioligy 😁
Been playing through on my Steam Deck and the graphics still hold up in the original (at least at that size and resolution)
XIII is great. Sazh and Vanille were awesome.
I have a PS3 just because of these games.
the ps3 has tons of great games besides those, you know.
@@TheGingiGamer It's not like those are bad games at all either lol, the combat system is actually pretty fun, visually was ahead of its time, and music is as always just incredible.
FF13 is the blacksheep of the FF franchise.
Sad.
Ff13 was my favorite out of all of them. I hope for a remake or remaster on ps5. I'll pay any price. 🎉
FFXIII-2 for me snuck in to my top 5 of all time FF’s. Seeing a remake of the whole thing would be a dream come true
FFXIII still is one of my favorite FF ever! And I stan for it!
XIII was a good game. The combat system was great. XIII-2 took it even further with the monster catching and making them part of your team, loved it.
It doesn't even need an update. Just release it as it was. It was perfect.
It has to happen eventually. It's the only set of games (excluding XI I suppose) that you can't play on PS5. PC version is also kinda shit too, but mods do help.
which mods u use? I'm thinking of getting it since it's on sale.
13 just need some resolution scale up and some boosters , game still looks great
And will forever be garbage.
It needs more than that!
@@renatoramos8834You're a Zero Time Dilemma fan. Sit down 😂
It needs to lose the restrictions it puts on your party for the first 30 hours, no leader dying=game over BS either.
13 series is my favorite RPG! Equal to Horizon series. This is the best gaming news I heard in years! Thats if its true. Haha
Lighting has always been the most beautiful woman in ff franchise, do it wouldn’t surprise me 😂
Given that this is a trilogy and not separate games like the pixel remasters, I fully expect the FFX/X-2 treatment.
I'd love to finally play through it and actually get to play XIII-2 'cause I've always wanted to
I completely agree, release the trilogy together, QoL upgrades, and to at to that have the story dlc already installed.
Gotta remember people grow up and plus the audience now plus some new comers might appreciate the game more now then back in the early 2010s
I really hope this FFXIII Remastered. Saddly I doubt they will fix some stuff but hey everything is possible!
I can’t wait. XIII series is so underrated. One of my favorite games.
It opens up in the archesteppe area where you can do the trials
Superrr i been waiting years for this❤️
I would love to relive lightnings journey with some good QOL improvements
If this is true, I'm buying all 3 not caring about the price. FFXIII was my introduction to the Final Fantasy franchise. Still have the games on PS3. I hope this is real.
You are the problem!
Thanks!
Thank you actually!
Remaster? Oaft. I’d be just happy being able to play it again without the dodgy port 😂
We need this remaser so bad😭✨️❤️
I really liked FF13. If you look at FFX it runs on rails just like 13. I think X is more fun game to play over 13.
Oh. My. Gosh. I felt like I was going insane when I would read stuff like "FF13 is too linear. FFX is the best." It's just as linear! What?!
Yep x is my favorite game and it is definitely linear I mean you can backtrack to an extent but you can’t do open world til late game.
Because a lot of people didn’t like the XIII trilogy and it won’t be worth the cost of development unless it sells enough.
Because if it doesn't sit well with a lot of people, it will most likely not sell well.
I would rebuy it. I'm an FF13 enjoyer.
Don‘t give me hopes 😢
Fabulous Nova Crystallis had great potential but many flaws
The fact that XIII even came out at all with all of the trials and errors it went through let alone spawning sequels is a feat of it's own
"Versus XIII" XV
got cancelled rebrand had a new director and a different take on the story probably not as good as the original but will never know
"AgitoXIII" Type-0
this one turned out how it was supposed to well aside from rebranding it's name and the tease at the end for a potential sequel that will never see the light of day not to mention the weird mobile titles it tried it's best
Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII
This never got the chance to turn into anything not even a trailer
PLEASE BRO PLEEEEASE I NEEEED IT
I love ya, Prince , but I have to wholeheartedly disagree with your take on FFXIII's growth system and how it doesn't fully open up until near the endgame; they designed it that way on purpose for the sake of ludonarrative cohesion.
People who hate on this series are just corny lol this was a great series especially the last one
I can't wait. 🎉🎉🎉
I agree There’s really nothing to improve on from XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. But it would be nice if they gave us the option to play without the doomsday clock.
Facts.
Maybe more dlc arena superbosses in 13-2
Maybe a longer doomsday clock like the less time you waste during the 13 days.
Lightning Returns is one of the ebst open world games by square besides rebirth.
It has great puzzles.
It has really fun quests too.
XIII LR has moments of party member so it is possible to have party members but I don't think it would benefit much with it.
I loved Lightning Returns, probably the best of all three
Lightning Returns made a significant departure from the rest of the Final Fantasy series, similar only to the MMORPGs. If the first FFXIII had incorporated the improvements seen in FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns, I believe it could have been a major success.
I just hope 13-2 gets remastered too because it’s an actual fun FF time.
I hope the rumor is real. I have them on PC but you have to mod the second game to be playable.
I hope soon 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Night sky what games from Square Enix do I want back from the PlayStation graveyard as a Yoko taro fan Drakengard 3 &1( Drag-On Dragoon 3 &1). Remake's reincarnation and automata. The bouncer should be remarked some older DQ games on PS2. FF1 to FF9 being remade. Same for FF11
So if I have it for PC but am getting it for PS5, how can I get the discount? Does that mean no discount for ps5 owners?
My goddess has finally come back to me
Damn yeah my Final Fantasy XIII please remaster the trilogy.
0:18 you had me in the first half not gonna lie.
I think they should fix translation first.
Though I could see them doing a X-X2 style remaster for the 13 series.
i so immersed with Lightning Returns.
Tried to play FF13 with the extensive mods recently and I just couldn't get them to work. If this came out I'd be so happy
I hope Final Fantasy XIII Remastered Rumors are true
Hope that's true. Haven't played this yet as I was busy in college back then.
But it'd be cool for ps owners to have all of the games
chapter of 13 means +100h of play maybe, because on FF15 i'm at +200H at chapter 8 ><
8:25 : it's why i like ff15 : Characters speak / react of what you doing, so the pace is never broke.
Do they have a physical release?
the price is ridiculous, Mass Effect Legendary edition was 3 games for £40-£50
13 and 13-2 are easily in the top 3 FF games.
I'm willing to play ff13 too if this actually happens
If XIII had some quality of life changes and its story was told more cohesiveley, it would have been amazing.
It would be cool if 13 versus will come out if they do this
I agree with all stated QoL improvements, but let's please add New Game+ as well.
I need this on my switch
I liked 13 and for some reason loved 13-2 and Lightning Returns, it would be a day one for me for sure. I have them all three for PS3 to this day
I just played all 3 games on the PS3 with the platinum trophy each back in May.
😮 is this true? When is it coming out?
Considering 1-12 (asides 11) got remastered, it only makes sense as xiii is also 2 gens old. Now each game costing $50 is... stupid.
I never got to beat the first one on the 360. For some reason the linearity messed my head up. Even if FFX was favorite of all, at the time ( on release). Looking forward to play this on a switch hopefully
Xiii2 has random battles! But you can avoid those battles so should be problematic.
Hope is like a walmart brand of the character chaos from Xenosaga.
I played the XIII 4K remaster on Series X just before Rebirth launched. No QoL but it looked incredible.
Pleas Please Please let this be real! I beg! I plead! FF13 is what made me become a FF fan!!!
As far as I'm aware, they used real instrument samples for FFXIII so there's less need to do a rearranged soundtrack compared to other games in the series.
zodiac age version where you have full flexibility fromt he start would be great
You get it, and no leader dying=game over, no being forced to control specific characters and let me choose who I want to have active in battle if there are more than 3 party members at any given time.
FF13 feels like a 10-15 hour tutorial until you get you team back together in chapter 9... After then, the game does become fun
That being said, I only played FF13 once for like 30 minutes but now that I own a PS3 I might take a shot at it.
thing is...the FF13 trilogy on the xbox backwards compatible already upgraded/remaster... only FF13 is still locked at 30fps is something they could've updated back then
I hope they fix the story. I watched videos and I still don't know wtf went on in that game
