    It's all tying back to the half step interval both with the scale and the two major chords. Placed a half step apart. Causes them to resonate almost in a minor-esque type of resonance
    I believe it's because 8f the root of a chord modulates half a step. Than it's fair to say that the major third. Is also modulating and of course the difference between major chords and minor chords of the same root the.

    Love Phrygian, but if I can offer one thing - maybe the backing rhythm guitar could do with some effects, it's just a little bland and basic.
