      as much as i think everyone would love to hear Punk's side of the story (and especially if Jim/Brian can bring him on), probably as a result of the buyout, if it happens, he might not be able to talk about the incident for a very long time, if ever. Now, the question is whether or not Jim/Brian can get Ace Steel's wife to talk about it. That could have potential.

    Punk generated AEW's big business, and was actually pretty liked outside of the EVP's and their camp. Though he could've handled winning the AEW title more professionally, he only responded to what they had already started. If Tony Khan didn't make the Elite EVP's for brownie points, there weren't media scrums in the first place, Dave Meltzer didn't lie about Punk getting Cabana fired, & Page didn't go into business for himself, this whole debacle wouldn't have happened. The reason Punk's getting all the blame for this situation is because people like to tell people how *react* instead of telling the responsible party (you know, the "executives") how to *act*.

    • @insupportofjunhado
      @insupportofjunhado Год назад +1

      Media scrums might have problems, but there was no reason for media scrums to be part of this specific problem. There was no reason for anyone working for AEW to break kayfabe during them. If the press started asking anyone to do it, then deny, or better yet ignore, or even better still feign ignorance of these requests. One of the best things about Broken Matt Hardy was that despite how ridiculous it all was, Matt refused to break kayfabe. Once he crossed that line, it was shit. But if you must, fine, do a shoot interview on your own time. Type up a blog, on your own time. Do a podcast, on your own time. AEW shouldn't be breaking their own kayfabe. Learn from WWE, better yet learn from "Rhodes To The Top".
      If the press doesn't ask but start breaking kayfabe themselves, contest it. Treat pro wrestling as real until they get the message. You wanted to film this thing I wanted to keep private, do you? Fine, but it's still being done on my terms. No one's shooting, Punk has no precedent, and no one has any precedent to question why an audible wasn't called in front of Keith Lee, for that matter.
      But even if media scrums are just going to ignore kayfabe, maybe Tony Khan should call Punk a liar and say he did try to get rid of Colt Cabana. You were sitting right there Khan. Perhaps Punk was truthful there then? Well Khan, you read The Observer. If stories you know about Punk going after Cabana's job are false, then come out and say they are false. At least use your twitter account! Maybe Punk still calls out Page on Dynamite, but maybe he's placated enough to have moved on by the time of the scrum which you are foolishly not going to keep in kayfabe.

In fact, AEW drew less than a DOA WCW show in my small town that never even had a major promotion show up except for that one time. AEW is exactly what Meltzer envisioned wrestling to be, which was never worthy of consideration. We're talking about someone who thinks Barry Horowitz matches got bigger pops than Hulk Hogan in Paris, therefore "Hogan is only big because of conditioning [socialization, Meltzer]." He threw the first punch. BUT, he may or may not have a lawsuit and has proven he'll take that road in the past. By claiming to Human Resources that they feel it's an "unsafe work environment" they are now protected from "retaliation" (I.E. firing) and ensure that if Punk goes after them again, he'll be fired, which would affect his potential lawsuit if he doesn't file first.

You may not like him as a talent, it may have been the wrong time and wrong place for Punk to take over the media scrum but that doesn’t justify what The Elite did not to mention them being EVP’s, management. Remember that it wasn’t just the 3 EVP’s but Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazowa, and Brandon Cutler was there also. Whether they barged in or just angrily walked in, it’s still 6 guys walking in trying to confront one. Mega shouldn’t have been there or if she needs to be should have been the one to walk in first to mediate. The Elite are just pissed they ran in 6 deep and still got their asses kicked. These are the EVP’s of a company puffing their chests out at, let’s be honest, the biggest star in the company and the big money draw. It's pretty clear which side Tony Khan has sided with at this stage. Heck, you can see FTR already being beaten by an unworthy tag team for no good reason so you can feel the venomous influence of the Bucks/Omega returning. That said, I really believe Tony Khan has made a fatal mistake. Whether CM Punk is a real cancer to the locker room or not, he did produce business in a significant manner for AEW and a lot of the potential stars he would help groom for AEW's future are probably going to be held down unless they can do the injury prone style of the EVPs.
    As for Jericho, I feel he's a two faced type and that he was waiting for his moment to speak up. Now, that Punk is on his way out, he can pretend that he's on the AEW's locker room side to make himself look good once the EVPs return. If Punk had stayed, having Punk vs Jericho at some point would've been a big deal, even if neither are at the same level as when they encountered each other in the WWE. And Jericho is smart enough to recognize money but I think he's all about survival and he doesn't really care about AEW's actual health as long as he's making money and having control. And Last nailed it with Danielson and Moxley just wanting to be the equivalent of individual contributors in companies although I think Tony wants to lean more on them. But to them they don't care as long as they're doing what they want to do.
    As far as Tony Khan is concerned, he's shot himself with a bazooka right in the foot with his choice here. I think unless someone gets released by the WWE because of being awful, you won't see anymore ex-NXT stars migrating to AEW. HHH will put a stop to that for certain. But the way a lot of the ex-WWE people are being used to be jobbed out to the indy friends shows that anyone who got let go will end up being beaten to powder (to steal from Corny) in AEW. So that in itself will cause them to just wait around until HHH does a call back. Even if you end up not really being used as much in the WWE, you will be working for the top company in the world so that's better than a company that is on a decline.
    I have a bad (or good depending on your point of view) feeling that once a lot of current ex-WWE/current AEW talents' contracts come up, unless they're in a top position like Danielson or Moxley, they'll be returning really fast to the WWE. Even if they were unprofessional in how they handled themselves (e.g. Andrade), they'll be treated like a hero and probably do some shoot interview on AEW once they return. Furthermore, once Tony loses all his main action figures he bought at TRU from the WWE rack, he's going to be left with just the indy guys he let go through quiet expiration like Jelly, Stunt, etc and that's who we will see once more since those people are too stupid and enjoy hurting themselves.
    Yeah, this pretty much is the beginning of the end of AEW unless Tony hires a proper booker and talent relations team, revokes the EVPs' titles and takes himself out of the day-to-day operations. I don't see much of a bright future for this company and predict that it'll end in 3 years with either Tony Khan getting burnt out or the TV networks kicking them off because ratings are falling too fast or that a bad incident whether it's an injury or perhaps death is shown and they have to deal with the bad publicity.

      It is mostly Punk's fault. He didn't need to say what he said in the media scrum and the Head of Legal witnessed the fight.

      @@RichieP68 exactly, it seems like people are missing that point. I know people are going to be biased, but damn. Lol. I am speaking as being a CM punk fan.

      @@4cuttime no you’re missing the point. These folks spread a rumor he got his old friend fired from AEW and certain reporters in their pocket. It was only a matter of time before he spoke out. So he did, they chose to storm into his locker room after, which is irresponsible to do as EVP’s. The Elite are to blame.

      I'd like to one day hear JR's honest thoughts about everything AEW, from when he signed for them and up to whenever it ends for him there.
      Problem being is that he has never struck me as the type to ever go hard at any former employer, no matter whether they've deserved it or not. I mean hell he got humiliated how many times in the 2nd half of his WWE run but still he's always been diplomatic discussing them.
