      I honestly appreciate the feedback. I'll definitely be turning down any sort of music or not using it at all in the future.

    Thanks that's super helpful. I just got a TCR advanced 2 that has a fork with an alloy steerer and OD bearings. I want to upgrade to a full carbon fork...is my choice restricted to 11/8 to 11/4 forks? There aren't many!

      I'm in a similar boat, found a cheap frame on ebay but am having trouble finding a carbon fork!

    Your video has very good information that I had not been able to find elsewhere on the web. This is my question: I have a Giant Revolt with the Overdrive system (1 1/4 lower and 1 1/8 upper) and I want to put the new Fox suspension for gravel (1 1/5 lower and 1/1/8 upper). Would the Fox suspension be compatible just by changing the bearing below? What size would that new bearing be?
    Thanks for your video, greetings from Colombia

      Great question. I actually looked into this and it appears that giant has actually changed the size of the headtube to accommodate the 1.5 steerer tube on the fox fork. I'm surprised they would do a whole new mold for this or maybe they were able to just change the mold for the head tube. So no, you can't run a fox on your regular revolt.

    Great video and thank you for sharing! Do you have the headtube ID measurements? I haven't got the right tools to check mine and wanting to replace the OD2 headset on my 2019 TCX with mixed cane creek.

    Hey, I have an OD2 integrated handlebar on my OD1 steerer with a shim installed to get into fit the 28.6mm tube.
    Do you think I can also shim the cone spacer and the rest of the spacers underneath the stem so I can fit OD2 2021+ spacers on my 2018 TCR advanced to get a better finish...
    Thanks

    Interesting that the head tube is the same and the only difference is the bearings. Is that also true for Canyon bikes with a 1 1/4" steerer tube? Thanks!

    • @Grunge_Cycling

      Probably. Otherwise they would need their own bearing size

    The OD2 system (1-1/8 top, 1-1/2 Low) y compatible with any fork? Because I want to change the fork of my bike but de internal diameter of 1-1/2 is 37mm and the carbón fork have 39.8mm so... Is compatible?

    Hi. Do you know if i can use a different 3rd party expander plug for the od2 system as i find that the stock expander plug is clunky and troublesome to use. Would say a standard expander plug do the job in a od 2 steerer. Thanks!!

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  Год назад

      A different expander plug probably won't expand large enough for the OS2 size. Giant does have a super light weight one that you glue in the steerer if you are looking for less weight.

  • @thomasmoher9089

    I have the TCX and just redid the headset. No where is there a video explaining the expansion bolt used in this headset. There is just the top cap bolt which goes all the way through to the threaded nut. You have to be careful not to loosen the top cap too much, otherwise the nut will drop off into the fork. Not a big deal once you remove the expansion bolt sleeve and free up the nut in the fork. That being said, reassembly of the expansion bolt and sleeve is no where to be found online. I found that reinserting the expansion bolt can be equally as confusing, because it has to be almost totally unscrewed from the nut without separating the two. Otherwise, get ready to start over. Can someone please post the correct way to reassemble this whole headset? It would be doing many of us a great service. This is a unique expansion bolt assembly compared to many of the others, and some reassembly instructions and pointers would be helpful. Thank you.

    We've been through the whole 1,1/4" steerer tube system. It didn't last, & It was more of a pain in the butt than anything else. No realistic gains. Another industry standard we didn't need.

    • @BlackWaterCyclist
      @BlackWaterCyclist  2 года назад

      Yes you are right. More marketing than anything and now that everyone is forcing the cables through the headtube, they will go back to a 1 1/8 I am sure.
