Man ive been watching you for years. Its crazy that you are still doing your thing and enjoying airsoft. Keep it up brother. (Edit: Its been about 8 years)
universal gear is crucial. same radios = same radio battery, same aeg = same mag types. that way you can share stuff. we have a list of gear, 8 mags, 2 he, 1 smoke, as example. so everybody knows that your buddy has same that you have
I have a m4 AEG but I also have a secondary attachment that let's me use light mags and clips in it, always useful if you run out to be able to clip that in half a second and have buddy lend you a mag in a tight situation
Maintaining a good mindset and enjoying yourself even in bb defeat so you're excited for the next fight is huge in these events. Especially when you're physically tired and worn out. Glad you touched on that.
I have just recently started buying my airsoft gear and its all thanks to you and miss Leah. I've been watching all of you in node for about 9 years now and i cant wait to come to a milsim. Hopefully we can play together some day.
Great stuff as usual Man! I just got back from IronHorse 4 at The Guardian Centers. We had a fairly large Squad of 14 players that eventually got split up into two fire teams and then the other guys who got put into our squad sort of just left us to do their own thing. We probably should have tried to hang onto them more. But that's a large squad and its really hard to manage that many people. Our squad is made up of basically one team. We tried to stay together as a larger squad, but the other team decided they didn't want to just hold the building we were assigned to hold and went off and did their own stuff. Which means they did a lot of walking back to the FOB because they had no medic and no connection to Platoon lead, who can also medic. So they were basically on their own to do whatever it was they were doing. In the end I personally ran into them late on Saturday and worked with them for a while as we pushed really far North into the city and held a lot of ground. But in the end, I had to let them go off and do what they wanted to do. And that was fine. They had their fun and so did we!
I’ve only been to one event where comms were present. Our squad leader spoke with our headquarters and other squad leaders and folks with radios. Very helpful to have a radio. This gameplay looked pretty fun!
Super helpful video for first time milsimers! Thanks for all you do for this community! Your situational awareness and effective communication is what we all strive to achieve
Fish hook used in the Civil War in Gettysburg away of giving a defensive advantage on high terrain and the luxury of launching a counter attack to the numbers side as the enemy attack envelopes. Basically what your were describing in the end.
This is why I want to join the airsoft community. Most are nice people that you can get a long Witt and just have a good time, and overall it seems to have a nice community. Hopefully by participating in small matches at nearby fields and indoor facilities I can gain experience and hopefully by the time I’m out of the house be ready to start doing Milsims.
Honestly my group of buddies and I created our own squad. When fully staffed we're 7 strong. Intentionally we have 4 designated members with designated roles. 1. Radio and Logi 2. Demolitions and Munitions 3. Medic 4. Scout Everyone in our squad has some training in each of the 4 role designations, which helps if the primary is downed or out. However the remaining 3 members are primarily just riflemen. The way we tend to run it, is a mixture between fast and loose along with slow and tight. Truly it depends on the engagement we're facing. When we're in a larger open area, we tended to run it fast and loose, splitting the 7 into 2 fire-teams with the scout on over-watch. The most common fire-team examples for our group is like this Fire-team 1: -Rifleman -Rifleman -Radioman Fire-team 2: -Medic -Rifleman -Demolitions And of course the scout is staying back in the tree line, when possible, to provide over-watch, and alert via radio of enemy positions and provide suppressive. When we're running in a more enclosed area we run slow and tight, preferring to keep everyone together, with the medic and radioman at the rear, covered by one of the riflemen. This tends to be in urban environments and we run it usually in a staggered pattern like this. Lead: Rifleman Second: Rifleman Third: Demo Fourth: Scout Fifth: Medic Sixth: Radioman Rear: Rifleman Of course in the urban engagement if needed we can split off with the first four in our staggered column becoming the first fire-team and the final three becoming the second fire-team. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's taken us a fair bit of time to be able to work as a team, and to learn how to predict each others actions. Obviously we always have room to improve, and train when we can. We ensure anyone who joins our team.
The way my team and I interface is pretty much the same way you guys did here, we are a small fireteam so we move and follow fluidly based on who's got the best eyes on target/idea at the time and roll with it. We primarily do recon for the CO/XO of whatever side we happen to be playing on then maneuver and attack based directly on what we see the other team doing, and we're finding this very fluid playstyle suits me and my guys well. Good video on SUT! Hope to see you at an event in the midwest soon.
