If you cut your pieces on the bias, it’s better to hang the skirt for a day before hemming. So that the fabric can stretch at its max.
I watched a dozens of videos on how to make a satin slip skirt, and this video is by far the best one! thank you so much to make it so clear and easy to follow! love it~
Thank you so much ☺️ I’m so glad you like it 🌸
Can you do a black satin maxi skirt? I did one with an elastic waist. It pairs well with a t shirt and with sweaters. Very versatile and acts as a blanket too when lounging. Looks good with ankle boots, flip flops and ballerina flats.
Gorgeous!! Thank for the tutorial!! Made one skirt like this last year and if this video already existed it would had helped me a lot!!
This tutorial is so user-friendly! Definitely going to try this out!
Amazing tutorial! And the colour of the fabric is so stunning. Thank you
So happy to see the french seams! A personal favourite of mine, I think they look much nicer than just a regular overlocked seam so I try to use them whenever possible. Awesome video once again! Another project added to my quarantine to do list. Hope you're staying safe and well x
Thank you for making another video! This skirt us lovely! Even in another soft material I think it would look gorgeous
miekie pinkaap yes you’re right, different fabrics can work for this kind of skirt ☺️
That pastel color is so soft 💚
Love the French seam tip 😍
Lovely skirt - that colour is beautiful! I've been sewing my elastic waistbands with a zig-zag stitch for ages.. Your way looks so much cleaner. I'll be trying that next time :) xx
Did you manage to do it? Mine turned out to be not great. I wish I did my zig zag stitch.
@@liliyaivanovayanakieva1472 Yes I did.. it turned out well, I liked the thicker waistband and that there was no stitches on the outside of the skirt. I think both work well though, if you're used to doing zigzag x
@@gemmaamclean that's great. ☺️ Yeah, will do next time since I need that extra space elastic waistband can assure. Maybe I used a too small in size regular stitch and this way it didn't really elongate. 😂 Have a nice day!
I'll making one for myself soon.Love the french sewn sideseams.
Thank you, this tutorial was extremely helpful for me!
Heli Makarova happy to hear that☺️
Beautiful job. Love it, my granddaughter wants me to sew her one.
I made this, I added more ease than suggested and it worked out really well
Sarah Chiu I am really happy to hear that 🥰
Would love to see some photos ☺️
The fitting looks amazing.......
Looks best with white one....😍
I've been looking for a tutorial just like this thank you!!
Beautiful skirt and very nice tutorial!
Love ittttt!!!! So simple yet so elegant!!! 🤩
So CLEAR! THANK YOU, will be making one tomorrow haha
Селия Бенсон please don’t forget to share with me ☺️ my insta instagram.com/annathetailor?igshid=gw6ogvirocnl
wow!! maybe I'll finally decide what to make with the satin I'm hoarding. ^^' so beautiful!!
me too!!
I don't see how you can put it on without a zipper🤔
Marta Bautista that’s the reason I’ve cut it on bias so fabric can stretch in different ways and that’s why I’ve put the elastic on a waist band 😏
@@Annathetailor thank u!!!! Love your channel😊
@@Annathetailor It's so clever! You gave me an idea; thanks!
If i don’t cut on bias I guess I will have to use my hip measurement for the waist, correct?
Lovely. I would use invisiable elastic for the waist. I appreciate this video!!
Cavelle Ardiel that is a good idea 😊
Colour and design both are lovely🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️
Please keep up the great work! Your videos and pieces are stunning😘
Coral Johnson thank you so much ☺️
Need to try out this.. So beautiful
I love the waistband technique
Tried to do it just today. Overall it turned OK-ish. However, I didn't see any information about the needle needed to work such a fabric (silk/satin). I used a 75 but still had some issues. Also, there is not information about the tension of the thread. I guess that about 4 or 5 should be ok to use. Since the fabric is slippery, I encourage you to use some paper to give the machine the possibility to work without having any problems. When you have finished your seams you just have to tear that paper to clean the seams. Probably the best foot to use is a walking one (unfortunately I still don't have one). French seams are the best for satin and silk, that's for sure.
Love this tutorial !!!!! Everything super explained and I am beautiful
V.attractive skit n color ...Go gogo .. Don't stop girl😘😘😘😘😘😘
Hi Ann, how you find 27 cm from the bottom? Its an standard measurment? How you calculate?
You can not use that measurement, instead take 1/4 of your hips measurement plus 2cm.
i love it soo cute and i saw that skirt in zara very cute and trendy now
Beautiful work! Highly appreciate it
Amazing tutorial ❤️
I love your video tutorials thank you so much ♥️
Hi, if I wanted to make this skirt ankle length would I just need to ensure the fabric length is longer? I want to start sewing my own skirts as I can't seem to find what I want around and it would be cool to try this as my first project. Thanks for your help in advance.
I love it, thank you for sharing this. It looks so pretty on you!
Your channel is perfect!!!! I’m from Brazil 🇧🇷
This is beautiful. I am making one for sure this weekend
Love your toutorials!
Wooow amazing 😍😍 please Ann can you next video tailor satin pajama ? Please because your job really perfect 💗
ahlem ftelina thank you dear ☺️ I will make a silk pajama as soon as I can 🥰
Your tutorial is very easy to understand! I love it! 😍But may I ask about the measurement if I want to do maxi skirt?
Thank you, beautiful!!
Jesus loves you!! 🎉
Hi. How did you calculate the 27cm at the bottom? Or is it a standard measurement?
I wondered that too? Would be nice to find out. Anyone any idea? The further explanation is easy to follow👌 Nice skirt👍 Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I'm wondering how did you put it on. Both hips and chest are bigger than waist. Your waist line is smaller and it doesnt have zipper to get bigger.
Рената Дорофеева that is the reason I’ve cut it on bias so the fabric can be stretchy in different ways and so you can put it on easily 🌸
Me encantó genial gracias
How does it fit if top is fitted to waist? Wouldn't that mean the skirt doesn't slide up over hips?
The fabric is cut on the bias so it can stretch along with the elastic at the waist.
@@Yoza-jj2tk that is brilliant! Thank you so much for your reply ❤️🥳
Very nice! Thank you!
Wooooow Bravo magnifique Merci beaucoup ton travail très facile merciiiiii
Thank you 🎉
Amazing talent
I love it so much! I’ll see if i can do this one☺️
eeek! attempting this tomorrow, quick question tho.. does stitching the elastic with a straight stitch make it less stretchy? I've always used a zig zag stitch for elastics for some reason!
i think she pulls the elastic while she makes the straigt stitch so its still movable? cant quite tell
Luiza Grabovska I pull the elastic while I’m stitching. You definitely can use a zigzag as well. But I don’t really like the look of zigzag on the elastic, that is my personal preference 🌸
Hi I love your videos. so inspiring. What camera to you use to film.
Very pretty!
Wow nice your satin skirt 😍❤ i love you 😘😘😘😘😘
Also, could you please make a simple cotton ribbed spaghetti strap tank top tutorial? I'm a beginner and that would really help!
Soy muy admirador de sus técnicas
Very good ✌️👍
Beautiful, Anna!
I just did the first stiching on the sides and cant get into from the bottom and just can fit from the top.
It’s beautiful, but can’t walk faster or walk with small steps because the knee part is small. It sure look nice!
She cut the fabric on bias, so it's strechy^^
I wonder why she stayed in one place modeling the skirt, thats why I doubt if its beautifully constructed. Although the fabric looks beautiful and rich.
Love this.
Thank you so much
Are u using smaller needle bcuz silk is harder to sew than normal fabric
I wondered the same thing.
You always need to use a needle designed for that specific fabric
Well done 👍
Beautiful ❤️
Omg I wanna do this but maxi 😍😍
Если два раза проложить строчку по резинке, она разве не перастанет расятягиваться?
Thank you beautiful good 👍😘
Brava!!!!👏🏼👏🏼
thankyou
It's amazing skirt 💟
Wow
For thw waist u got 68 ..and adding 2(movements) + 4(seam allowance) u must be getting 74 but y did u take it has 72 in the end?
love it
Hi, How do you know how much to fold @0:46 and where does the 27 cm come from?
So beautiful! Is the fabric stretchy???(I’m not sure that I could fit my hips through the waist opening…)
Fabric isn’t stretchy, but because skirt cut on bias it’s easy to put on, also waist isn’t exact waist measurement it has elastic in.
@@Annathetailor Ok! Thank you!
Will this work if I only have 110x100cm of fabric? (A beginner here)
the bigger your hip, or the total length of the skirt, is the bigger it needs to be. Although the fabrics come with a total of length in their width. You can always do some cuts to it make a fringe at the bottom and get more length that way.
Do you find this fabric gets static and clings?
Parabéns. Amei
if I wanted to add a split to the side is there anything I would have to change to the initial measurements?
You sewed a good skirt
Excelente, muy clara la explicación
Quedó hermosa 💞
How did you get 27cm at the first line you drew?
Merci 👍👍
hello what thread did you use for that silk fabric? and what sewing stitch? .thank you.
I am a little confused, is the weird way you fold the fabric so that it's cut on the bias of the fabric?
SusanIvanova2257 yes you’re right ☺️
Preciosa 💖
Can I use cotton clothes instead of silk?
You sure can, just make sure it’s not too thick otherwise it’s not going to drape properly
What's your Instagram handle? I love all of your creations and tried one till now!! Its amazing!!!
Maansi .N.A follow me on Instagram instagram.com/annathetailor?igshid=1xisit17rwdok
that's how i stitch the seam of satin fabric
Is the fabric stretchy as well?
Ashley Thai just slightly, but it’s not necessary for fabric to be stretchy 🌸
Юбку через голову надевать предполагается с такими мерками?
Very good. What is your sewing machine brand and model?
efsun efsun Janome sewist 509
Thanks Anna, continue your successful projects😘
efsun efsun thank you darling 🌸
hi just wondering if this tutorial would work with like a the basic cotton non stretch fabric?
Camila I recon no, something soft and flowing will be perfect 🌸
Camila but it’s not necessary for fabric to be stretchy, cause you need to cut it on bias and it will be stretchy straight away
Which sewing machine are you using please?
Дуже гарно 💕! І, здається, не складно повторити)
Hi! Are the hem included in the pdf pattern? Or i have to add ? Thank you! 😊
1cm seam allowance included in the pattern 🙂
