  • @zainabmulla4381
    @zainabmulla4381 5 месяцев назад +1

    I’m nearly done with making the skirt. I used linen for my skirt. Everything was going smoothly until I tried it on before attaching the elastic on. I tried it on and there seemed to be a lot of excess fabric around my waist maybe because I’m petite so the skirt measured a bit longer. I thought attaching the elastic would fix it but I soon as I sewed on the elastic the fabric just didn’t sit well it was overlapping and just didn’t look good. If I fold the elastic twice over you can’t quite tell but what would you suggest I do to fix this?

    • @Lizziepatterns
      @Lizziepatterns  7 месяцев назад +36

      Hi! The skirt is cut on bias so it’s naturally stretchy. One note is this type of skirt should be made with light weight fluid fabric 👌🏼

    • @saveourplanet4204
      @saveourplanet4204 5 месяцев назад +12

      Cutting fabric on the bias is what makes it stretchy. It's a classic tried and true sewing technique used by the great design houses for over 100 years. Nice to see young people sewing again! 😊kudos!

    • @jaelvillalba7358
      @jaelvillalba7358 3 месяца назад +1

      Déjame y te lo explico
      La tela se corta al bies y de esta manera queda con más stretch y al pasar por la cadera lo hace sin ningún problema
      Y si no te da confianza auméntale 2 cm a la cintura

      I’ve never tried this pattern on jersey but the main characteristic we need here is a good stretch on bias so I guess jersey would do the job! And thanks a lot for your lovely feedback 💖 Yes! Many tutorials are in production 🥰

    I found you on instagram, and have loved looking through all of your beautiful photos and designs. I can't wait to see what patterns you develop. How much ease do you add to the hip measurement? • @Lizziepatterns
      @Lizziepatterns  7 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you so much! That's so sweet! This pattern doesn't have ease because it's sewn on the bias which adds some stretch! To get this particular shape, I even deducted 1 cm from the hip measurement 😉
