you know how everyone is supposed to have a "comfort youtube video" that you just always go back to? this is mine! i've watched this so many times over the years, i've learnt the commentary so i now talk along with the video :,) this will never ever get old and was actually the thing that got me into urban exploration, so thank you :)
Same! I remember watching this video when it was new in 2011. I was about 12, and my friend and I would explore abandoned things in our town in Mississippi and always say “We’re gonna be like AdamTheWoo at Six Flags and explore this place”😂😂😂 when we would film it. I still enjoy seeing interesting abandon places today because of Adam and this video. I was at Six Flags Over Georgia about a month ago and all day I quoted this video saying “YEAHHHH SIX FLAGS” like Adam does when Ginger comes down the slide haha. I wish he could go back and do a comparison video today like he did with Nickelodeon Studios. Long live AdamTheWoo!!!
I watched this video when I was about 9 or 10 years old, and it became a life long dream to see Six Flags New Orleans in person. I finally did it a couple days ago, safe, and got pictures. Didn’t go too far in because security was there. Thank you for starting this dream. Top life bucket list completed!! ❤
Today, August 29th 2015 marks 1 decade since this place was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. I really would like to see this place brought back to life.
+chuggaaconroy0144 The company that owns Six Flags is so broke that the months and weeks after the storm they couldn't come up with a new buyer for the park.
This brought back memories and mental images I thought I no longer had. It amazes me how stimuli can unlock vivid memories that the brain hasn't accesed in decades.
Twilight Sparkle It's not. I actually meant to say Vekoma. Similar style track though. Vekoma designs tend to be re-used. Boomerangs and SLCs are two of the most common coaster layouts in existence.
7am is a good time to sneak into a place like this. The cops are busy eating donuts, the drug addicts will still be out of it, the place is yours! I noticed you guys are being quiet. You never know who might be camped out.
I remember going here when I was little. I was so sad that I was too short to ride the Batman roller coaster. This place was so fun, I wish they would reopen it some day.
+ChuWangStudioz u know discovery island and river country it never re-open but discovery island may re-open in 2017 or 2018 but with the animals out of the cashes
+CherieArthur Unfortunately Katrina was Premier Park's scapegoat to dump the park as the company at the time was going through financial troubles and they already sold off most of their parks and Six Flags New Orleans was the next park to hit the chopping block as it was the least profitable after the others they sold off. The city of New Orleans tried to hold them to their fifty year agreement and use the insurance money collected by Premier Parks to rebuild. However they only got 32 million dollars when the cost to rebuild would cost way more than that as they'd have to replace most of the rides and buildings as all electrical things were ruined and water damage to the foundation of rides and buildings basically ruined everything left. They thought they'd have the park reopened in 2007 but of course that never happened.
Two years later and I still think this is the best video of this Six Flags on RUclips. The music fits perfectly, and your narration is really funny. I seriously want to get down to New Orleans and visit this place!! Great job, Adam.
it's not worth it, all the rides are mechanically unstable. it costs a fortune to rebuild, such as an example, six flags KY kingdom shut down in 2010, and the park was dormant for a couple years until a new owner to reopened it in 2013. I myself seen it first hand, very bad decomposition with a quickness. shows how much mother nature can take over.
I don't know if Six Flags would have the money to rebuild it, even if they wanted to. I went to Six Flags in Southern California recently, and it was one of the most sad/depressing and lifeless parks I've ever seen. They must be struggling big-time.
I just wish they would revive it, this place was shortlived, it only existed for 5 years and was already one of the most insane parks in the country, full of fun, I wish I could have went to it, I mean the commercials are so fucking awesome, I don't know why but this specific park fascinates me completely like no other
Living off of bad gas station food and maybe 100 bucks in the wallet at this time… Cool to look back and see Adam living his dream not knowing where the next check was coming from .. he’s a braver man than me
joshua witt It’s so cool to see though, I went there. It was cool to see this stuff. I kept one of those stuff animals xD It looks awesome there, i sat on the ones I was most like to not be tall enough for xD
Did you know that the batman ride was the only ride that was not damaged by hurricane Katrina so six flags actually moved the batman ride to six flags in San Antonio Texas and renamed the batman ride the Goliath
This is the first video I ever saw of yours, and I've been hooked ever since. I've absolutely loved urban exploration and abandoned stuff for years. I'll be happy to see you return to this channel now that Daily Woo is done.
I'm a native of New Orleans (I'm still here) and this place scared everyone away while it was open lol. For some unknown reason, the city refuses to let corporations who would bring tons of jobs to the city build there. They've turned away a Nascar track and a Mercedes factory. Ok I understand the Nascar thing.
why new orleans will not let anyone(or corporation) open or start a "new" company ? corruption or greed. I worked in downtown new orleans for 5+ years and its all about knowing who is who and how to "play ball".
Well I wasn't gonna say it. :| But that's what fuels the fires. They're starting to come down a little harder now though since Mayor Chocolate City went to jail.
The reason why six flags untied ties with them is because they were asking six flags for more money than needed for the reconstruction. They didn't cooperate with six flags, so there's no six flags.
The way you play ball in New Orleans is through your children. It's all about where they go to school. Not college though, elementary through high school! It's the weirdest thing but that's the gateway.

I have seen many videos about people visiting this abandoned Six Flags. So far this has been my favorite. I enjoyed this video. I live 1.5 hour away from New Orlean. I just moved to this area. When I first visited New Orleans, I saw Six Flag from a far distance and I was like "dang there's a park. I have somewhere to go hang out and have fun with my friend now". Now I now it was Six Flag and it is abandoned
This park was shut down after hurricane Katrina 🌀 was submerged in 7 feet of 💧water deemed abandoned because it cost to much for repairs Only being open for three years.
OMG! WHEN I WAS LIKE, 2 YEARS OLD I WENT TO SIX FLAGS AND THE SPONGEBOB RIDE THAT YOU SAW WAS THE EXACT SAME SPONGEBOB RIDE I RODE ON WHEN I WENT! THE SCREEN WAS HUMONGOUS YOU WOULD SIT IN THE THINGS AND THE SEATS WOULD SLOWLY SPREAD APART FROM EACH OTHER, I MET BATMAN AND ROBIN TOO, BUT OF COURSE THEY WERE FAKE.
I love your videos. I just showed me and hubbies friend John Cantwell and he reminds me so much of you. He thought it was so funny that you remind me of him. Your one of my favorite explorers. I follow all of your channels. You guys act the same as just as funny.
Being a former Native of New Orleans. As a kid I love going to Slidell in the summer and going to Six Flags. This video gives me a bitter sweet feeling seeing the rides and remembering all the good times I had at that place. Also, kinda depressing seeing the shape it is in now and that it will never reopen.
Wow Adam, have I really been a loyal follower of all things Woo for 7 years?? Amazing. You must be doing something worthwhile and I pray you keep it up!
+EpisodeNevaeh〈3 Anything salvageable was taken. Six Flags lost miiiillions off the hurricane and probably tried to make back as much as they could. Having metal sit in salt water for a few weeks tends to totally mangle it. It's almost completely useless, and at the very least it's incredibly unsafe. Nobody would want it anyway. While some look dirty, rest assured they are just eaten away on the inside.
I know some of the rides and such are salvageable and should be taken and repaired and brought to other six flags.Abandoned amusement parks are scary and make me sad.
Craftin Cole They only used the parking lot for Jurassic world, its a half mile long and very wide. Plenty enough room to build monkey sets. You don't see any of the park in the movie cuz there was no filming done in the park.

Nothing more upsetting than seeing an abandoned Arcade :( I miss Arcades It is a shame to see everything that was made there, rides, stalls etc. Everything even down to the old locks on doors or something random on the floor. Some one put hard graft into every item at some point in time. From buildings to poles and concrete paths, every nut that was fastened and every nail hammered into a piece of wood was a collective effort to make something that would make people have so many fond memories. It's a shame to see it all just left there without care...
Say, if you ever want to actually visit the park that they used for the Pacific Playland location in "Zombieland", it's located in the Valdosta, Georgia area. The park is called "Wild Adventures." I actually used to work at that park, and its still open. :)
***** They could have built it but never been able to get it open, like this dumb new subway station we have in Washington DC that's years behind schedule and over budget, won't open this year, and some people are saying tear it down... but I thumbed up your reply anyway cause you're too right and your expression's my favorite.
***** You answered my question before I even got to ask it! That explains why it looks so bad after only 5 years... I was like, I know there was a storm and everything, but civilization deteriorates THAT FAST when we're not in it anymore? I read your whole reply
***** Just wanted you to know I read your whole Reply. I guess it's not 100% bad, since I guess people somehow need SOME place to put their graffiti. Plus, it makes a cool spot for adventurous photographers and videographers. Can homeless people squat there? Now, if it turns to be a cool spot for dangerous criminals, that's when something really needs to get done. I hope it hasn't gotten there...
Everything was flooded for a couple months and they would have had to change every single little wire around the whole park I like in cameron and my house had got 5 foot of water in it from the hurricane
+haunted1ap2608 The park closed two days before hurricane Katrina (August 27th 2005) and has since remained closed. When this video was published it would have been 6 years. It has now been abandoned for 11 years now and is in a far worse condition. Now some parts of the park are under swamp water as nature reclaims it black.
I don't understand why people don't fix up abandoned amusements parks like this, when the rollercoasters look fine.. Obviously not working but they could fix up this place
Luka Megurine It would've cost far too much to warrant it, as the level of damage from the more than month-long submersion in salt- and rainwater and heavy wind damage made most of the things in the park unusable (as in all of the flat rides and the roller coasters (especially the wooden one) save one, plus all buildings were about 80% damaged). Combine that with the fact that it was Six Flags' least profitable park, you've got a recipe for continued abandonment. To be fair, they did remove as many salvageable items as possible and moved Batman: The Ride; it was the only roller coaster that was basically salvageable, as it was elevated and was corrosion-resistant.
+Luka Megurine Because it would just flood again one day. Plus, it wasn't making money when it was operational. It was a horrible theme park. 100 degree Louisiana heat and 99% humidity and not a square foot of shade in the entire place. It was a miserable place.
There is probably nothing sadder and more spooky than a closed amusement park.

I googled imaged the park right after the hurricane. Crazy pictures. Awesome video Adam!
Tony Murrietta Thanks Tony . Those pictures immediately afterwards are wild. Everything completely flooded. Thanks for watching
***** Around the end of August in 04 or 05
Wow just finding this video Adam , l live in the New Orleans Area and remember going to this park. Katrina brought the end to many things.
I miss this time in RUclips
we all do, now everything is corporate and no videos have soul
Why was it abandoned?
I found it out. Hurricane Katrina blew through and the place was completely submerged. Only the tops of some rides showed through.
is the thing that flies past in the Background a Car? at 3:37
Say, if you ever want to actually visit the park that they used for the Pacific Playland location in "Zombieland", it's located in the Valdosta, Georgia area. The park is called "Wild Adventures." I actually used to work at that park, and its still open. :)
I worked in Valdosta for a year. Excellent place to film "Zombieland"
N.E.T. EYEDEE Cool beans. Did you work at Wild Adventures or somewhere else in Valdosta?
my uncle used to work there he was the joker at Gotham city hall
thats sick
So what happened to his job, im mean yes he lost it obviously, but was he transferred to another Six Flags
nah he lived in new orleans so the closest six flags other than neworleans was dallas
Terry zeringue Arlington*
I have watched this 4-5 times already...I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
5:11- Is that exit sign lit up?
It looks even worse now
When did they abandon this and why? Was it ever operating?
***** I see the point now. :)
***** Actually, several other rides were taken out, such as The Road Runner Express (refurbished) and other rides (for parts).
She made this unwatchable
Then dont watch.
IKR, I hate her.
@@sketminniemouse4059 i like her!
What I love about abandoned places is that they are a direct message that no place is perfect and ruins can be the building blocks of something bigger
"You 'gon learn today" i laughed way too hard at this

Why was this park abandoned Katrina? Why wasn't it ever restored?
Everything was flooded for a couple months and they would have had to change every single little wire around the whole park I like in cameron and my house had got 5 foot of water in it from the hurricane
+BronsonChad2014 It was too expensive for a park that wasn't all that profitable.
+BronsonChad2014 Check out the wikipedia page for Six Flags New Orleans. You'll find loads of answers there.

MUCHO DINERO ...AND
ELECTRIC NO LIKEY WATER
Extremely creepy. Very sad 😢
It would be nice if you gave a little info. like when the park closed and how long it was closed when you were there.
Wow thank you for the information. I lived in Louisiana for 18 years before Katrina . It is sad to see it so desolate.
haunted1ap2608 Yes it is! I know some locals said that before Katrina some areas wer very populated. Now those places are practically abandoned.
2:21 im surprised theres and prizes left at all after what hurricane kartrina did do it and it really old now too.
Gangs will take it over and it'll just be a memory to most.
Rumour has it that they might reopen in 2017 but idk if it's true or not.
At the time it was least profitable Six Flags at the time
+Luka Megurine Because it would just flood again one day. Plus, it wasn't making money when it was operational. It was a horrible theme park. 100 degree Louisiana heat and 99% humidity and not a square foot of shade in the entire place. It was a miserable place.
Did anyone else see someone running at a 3:38?they are not alone
Yup. But it was not a human. It was a bird. They scared it when they were janking around on that ferris wheel.
Oh my gosh i saw it too!
Look closely and it looked like they were hopping. Do you agree?
Over people might be visiting like he said at the start of the video. And they where probably running cause they got scared
It was a bird, look again.
