  • Problem solving a 5500 watt Coleman generator 6875. This generator had been sitting for a couple of years unused. So we figured get it running, clean it up and give it a second home. The issue was clogged carburetor jets do to bad gas (old).

Did this start on 1 pull after cleaning? We have this exact model, in fact we're giving it away today to a friend. It takes about 35 pulls to start it. So it's getting gas. Would this possibly be the same thing happening with our carburetor?

Could be the same problem. My generator became progressively hard to start, followed by rough idling and then it refused to start. After cleaning the carburetor the generator started first pull.

@@Boonerp I'm starting to think it might be the compression release lever's spring has broken. Maybe after 30 pulls it slowly retracts. I don't have the generator anymore but I'll relay it to the new owners. Thanks for responding!
