Andrei, I recommend you check out Liszt’s ‘Hymne de la nuit’ and ‘Hymne du matin’ (S. 173a)-two pieces which were to be included in the first version of the ‘Harmonies poétiques et religieuses’ set (S. 172a), but for some reason Liszt didn’t include in the final version when he revised both pieces.
I have Ogden's recording of this from the 1970's (ish). As you would expect, it's technically brilliant but fails the music. This is a far better performance. (This piece is also a bit of a demon to play as well - a lot harder than it looks).
