Well, barista here and yes regular cold foam is made with skim but sweet cream is made with heavy whipping cream , 2% milk and vanilla 🤗 and vanilla may be purchased at Starbucks!
@@melissasmith2019no vanilla extract is needed in the Starbucks recipe we use. All the ingredients are listed by the OP. The recipe of how we make it is literally 1 liter of heavy whipping cream, 350 ml of Starbucks vanilla syrup, 600 ml of 2% milk and you whisk it all together in a 2 liter pitcher. The use of vanilla extract is just here in the DIY recipes seen in this video. But I will say, some of my fellow baristas will add two additional pumps of vanilla syrup when we’re making vanilla sweet cream cold foam, so I suppose it’s all personal preference if you’d like to additionally use vanilla extract!
This is SO good! I've literally made this every morning for the past week. I made a special trip to the grocery store yesterday just to pick up another bottle of cold brew to keep making this! No need for me to ever go to Starbucks again! Just watching this makes me want to go into the kitchen and whip up another cup!
My favorite drinks are chai latte and pumpkin spice latte. I can’t wait to make them. Yes, I just bought my espresso and been making drinks. I love them. But wow I thought I couldn’t tell the difference because how good the coffee is, but I just came back from universal and couldn’t believe the difference. Those expensive machines are really on another level. Makes me appreciate my coffee more.
Just a heads up - if you don't have a blender or mixer of any kind you can get the same texture by shaking the contents in a mason jar for about half a minute.
@@ButteredSideUp Honestly, I surprised that it does work without a blender/mixer. Given, I haven't perfected yet, but have attempted to make cold foam using a martini shaker before 🤣. For those who like their coffee with cream, another substitution can be flavored coffee creamer too w/the added vanilla extract. In terms of martini shaker-it's either better with only 1-2 ice cubes, or no ice in the shaker at all. In terms of how many times one shakes it depends on how thick they want it...but highly recommend shaking it over the sink (sometimes it gets a tad too "foamy", the contents will pour out thru the lid). I promise I don't drink alcohol, but have found another use for those shakers.
45 seconds in and you solved my problem. I couldn’t figure out why my foam deflated so fast; i thought the fat in whole milk would help stabilize the foam but turns out I had it backwards. Thank you!
As a barista who actually cares a lot about coffee, I was actually presently surprised to get a video that was informative about this instead of a normal 5 minute crafts type video that does a terrible job explaining and tastes terrible, Sadly, coffee topics such as cold foam have fallen in between the cracks of the tiktok drinks that only look good and taste awful and the baristas who only drink their coffee black or as milk beverages and would call this stupid, so seeing someone actually explain it right, make it look good, and it actually taste good was very presently surprising. Well done.
This video inspired me to make a honey cinnamon version as I don’t have any maples syrup. I used 1/4 cup of 2% milk, a tablespoon of honey, and a little cinnamon, vanilla, and pink Himalayan salt. I poured over store bought cold brew and ice. It was sooooo good! I may use a little less honey next time because it was pretty sweet. I will have to try the pumpkin soon, even though fall is a ways off.
I got a PSSC iced coffee from Starbucks for my birthday (its free). I liked it a lot but wasn't satisfied. I ended up buying another one in vanilla for $5. Thanks for these recipes! Its winter here so I'll have to wait but I look forward to trying them in the summer!

Cold foam drinks started trending in the year of 2002 in Taiwan in boba shops and are mainly called " cheese foam boba", I am very surprised it is just now arrived in the U.S., and it has definitely americanized by using vanilla and combined with coffee.
I use half and half instead of heavy cream because I found that to be too thick. I like it better with the half and half, much creamier and the taste is better too.

4T of milk
1T of pure maple syrup
