Thanks Nick for a great reaction! Me alegra que te haya gustado la música de Mägo de Oz. Es una gran banda! By the way thanks for the bonus selection!🤘💓🇪🇸
Welcome to Josea Andrea's world 🙂: the first and not only the best singer of Mago de Oz. He's also one of the best heavy-metal Spaniards singers all of time.
Part 1 - Hi Nick, what a fantastic marathon !! This band is so tight, and their sound is just great rock music. It's like Clannad on steroids, and can you imagine Riverdance using some of these tracks ? They would set the stage on fire. Love the track 'Gaia' which would not be out of place on a stage Rock Opera. The vocalist has a few Ian Gillan moments with those screams. So many different vibes inc' Iron Maiden [ on La Conquista ] and even a touch of Deep Purple here and there, which I do think has had an influence on them, due to the vocalist doing his Ian Gillan screams. That's no accident. He knows exactly what he is doing, to get so close a sound to Ian's vocal screaming.
This was fascinating listening, in the sense that I heard a Spanish band performing what is basically Irish and Celtic influenced hard/metal rock. How did that come about? I looked them up on Allmusic and Wikipedia but there was no background info that explains this. That said, I really enjoyed this set. Thank you to Jose and Nick for introducing me to some quality music I did not know. I have had some daft individuals tell me that they only want to watch Nick react to music they already know. Well, I enjoy that too but above all I enjoy discovering new music. While it is not the only medium for me to do that, this channel has introduced me to several new artists/bands that I likely would not have encountered any other way. To me that is the best thing about this channel and it is distressing that such a large portion of your audience is so close minded and only want to stay within in their limited musical knowledge snd taste. This music reminds me quite a bit of an Irish band called Horslips. If you are not familiar, they had a folky, sightly progressive, slight hard rock (without the metal inflections) sound that I think you would enjoy immensely. It is quite similar to a good deal of the music presented here in this marathon , though a bit different as well. I will put together a Horslips marathon for a future date and I think the name recognition is just enough to prevent it from performing poorly as my last marathon did because people are so pathetically resistant to unfamiliar music even if it is excellent.
The Celts also lived in the north of Spain and Portugal, which means that for a Spaniard from those lands this is not foreign music but, on the contrary, it is the music of their own Celtic ancestors.
I just discovered you and I have to say that I love you. I am from the north of Spain and therefore, I love Mago de Oz, XD. I think you'll love reacting to this video of a concert of theirs in Mexico a few years ago. It's one of their best songs and they make a great pass for all of their records. You have a new follower. Keep it up! The video is "La cantata del Diablo (Directo Diabulus in opera)"
Wow, this is surreal I was just listening Mago de Oz a few minutes ago. This is one of those finest bands that are underated in the sense that they are so famous that people think they are garbage. This is so exciting! Thank you so much for this Greetings from Mexico compadre 💗
Nick, I've Been listening to music for over 60yrs and there's always something new or old that you haven't heard and I've listened to ALot of music. Where's Lex for this Spanish reaction?
Lex usually doesn't do Marathons because of her bad back pains she gets from sitting for longer periods of time. Yes its amazing that music never really ends and there will be always something new to discover. I hope you enjoy this marathon!
Great reaction, i recommend you to react these other Mägo songs, Satania, Los renglones torcidos de Dios (both 2000 versions), El pacto, Jesús de chamberi and La voz dormida, all of them with their best vocalist Jose Andrea.

I think I first heard mago de oz arround 2008 they did a cover from rainbow back then if I recall well I think was catch the rainbow and heard several songs from them afterwards. If you liked them you must definately try a polish cover band that called acid drinkers. They are excellent musicians also using accordion and make some parodys of songs also like nothing else matters from metallica. All their released albums so far I listened are very nice , and that is a think I don't say often even for well knowned bands. Cheers Helios from Greece.

Gaia trata de la hipocresía de la iglesia
Y luego la cantata del diablo de las quemas de brujas
