I have little use going on my 3 week. I’m so depressed but I’m not giving up. I want to get home to my kids and hopefully have all my mobility back.

Coming on 5 weeks, I can say almost every word (struggle with more complex words)...but its broken speech. Not fluent. I make heaps of spelling mistakes as well. I use to make a living from the wrtten words- not anymore. I can only hope that I continue to recover my speech. That said, I met a someone who had stoke and lost her vision for 2 years. I had a stoke in Sep 2021. I lost about 50% mobility in my left leg and some strength in my left arm as well as tingling and numbness in my face and limbs. After a day or two in hospital I could get out of bed unassisted and began staggering and limping about the ward and doing some simple exercises. I was discharged after 9 days with a limp. After 3 months I can walk 10km and cycle 20km every day, about 2 hours of exercise every day. I can't run like I used to, I'm still a bit unco, but I'm not far off it. Get up, get moving.

      Hi Briana that's incredibly great to hear I'm so happy for you!!! my father had a major hemorrhagic stroke just over a month ago (July 14th), it was in the left side of his brain which in return has affected his speech and right side mobility really bad. He's come along way he's now moving his right side alot more, making small grunts in response to questions...and finally beginning to answer my questions like are you cold are you warm and stuff he's also been starting to smile alot!!! The best responses we get from him are when he's outside with us, his moods seems to drop negatively as soon as he's back inside his room which is explainable.. its a very dull looking room. If i may, im really curious of your experience with your recovery within the first couple months as the patient? did you have troubles sleeping? were your able to recognize people but didn't have the energy to be very expressive? what was the best and most effective kind of therapy you received? Please dont feel obligated in any way to answer but I'd love to know.

    • @bajone02
      @bajone02 Год назад +2

      Bingo!! No guarantees, but I think you hit on a critical part of most true recoveries!!! Do not give up. I like that you have seen the value of fasting. I am starting to make some rapid (comparatively) recovery from a Neuro diagnosis 20 years ago. TWENTY. I increased vitamin and supplement intake carefully. Also started some body detoxing. Carefully. Slowly. Once you start feeling just a little better, you will have more incentive. But know it might take time to see any improvement. I let that discourage me for too long. I went to different therapists for 6-12 months and got disappointed and then would stop for awhile and go back to working and eating like was. I didn't realize I was so deficient in basic supplements. Wasn't eating terrible food. But I was not drinking enough water, AND getting enough Vit / min support to fill in where diet alone could not AND I was not using the shortened eating window of Intermittent Fasting
      for those stem cells to really kick in. It is OK not to be on a strict diet unless you are on one for some other reason. Do your research in RUclips like " natural remedy xxx'". For whatever is your xxxx condition. Read the comments and keep digging. DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. Praying to God will help you improve faster and not give up. Let me know when you need more encouragement. You got this!! Blessings.

    I can vouch for video gaming helping me in my Thalamic/PLIC stroke recovery.
    Regular PT is about strengthening muscle groups and ROM at set intervals a week and a major pain. Video games you can not only work at home using your shoulder/arm/hand again, but also helps in spatial awareness some strokes cause, everyday and for hours a day, too.
    It just depends on the type and how extensive your stroke is, that video gaming is a good additional means to keep a patient motivated to get better (a big concern, as strokes shock the system badly).
    A year later I'm back to about 90% norm in functioning on the left side. Still have other setbacks with the vision, but motor skills have mostly returned to normal. Just some ataxia and numbness and vision issues remain.

    I had a stroke April 3, 2016 I didn't know that I had had a stroke until just over a week after I had the stroke. The ER Dr, thought it was just the flu, but when does the flu mess up your walking and equilibrium completely to the point of barely walking and having to have a hand against the wall to get to where your going? That was the only symptom of a stroke that I had, at least I think that's true, nobody ever said that something was wrong with me to give me a clue that I was having a stroke. Your life is different forever when you have a stroke, the life you knew before your stroke is dead and gone, you will never be the same, you can get back almost everything from your stroke that you could do before your stroke, but you will be different. Every stroke is different, every stroke recovery is different, every stroke victim is different. You can't put someone who's had a stroke into a box and tell them what they can and can't do as a result of their stroke, no doctor can possibly know that or tell a patient who's had a stroke what they will or won't be able to do in their recovery. You can tell someone what they can and can't do after a stroke and then sit back and watch them prove you wrong. Or they can work as hard at their recovery as hard as they can every day the rest of their lives and yet still only improve a very small amount. But you don't know which one is which. When someone works hard at their rehab and recovery you never know which group they would be in or closer too. When you have a stroke you can't take the chance to take it easy and not work very hard on your recovery, because you might very well get back alot of your abilities that you had before your stroke, if you saw me walking then you would never guess that I had a stroke just over 2 years ago and how I could barely walk and needed alot of help to walk anywhere i was going too. The 1st few weeks I was in the VA hospital I was wheeled everywhere I was going. I worked as hard as I possibly could work in my rehab and recovery from my stroke.

      Thank you Nathan Faust for very useful comments, I had an episode in Jun 2007, found myself having difficulty in walking lost balance and little slurred speech. Doctor declared it a problem because of reaction of Flagyl (metronidazole) is an antibiotic, a medicine for stomach. I regained normal activity in weeks except numbness of feet. I was 55 at that time, now at 67 years of age I have had a stroke leaving complete left side paralyzed. Doctors now say in 2007 you must have had a stroke but quite minor.
      What is most important to note is this ailment is little beyond doctors best is the WILL POWER of the patient and physiotherapy
      what is most important is to make patients take feedback from people who recovered and are ready to share their experience. I intend starting an awareness campaign and some forum on social media to let all of us share our experience for the benefit of others

    Too bad my doctors couldn’t diagnose a stroke so they missed the window just after this video was uploaded eight years ago.

    Hmm. In 2013 I had a brain bleeding they missed 2014 another brain bleed and hemorrhagic stroke + ischemic during my c-section I was placed in a coma and life support for a week. I lost my dominant right side totally paralyzed upon waking. I couldn't even talk. Forgot that I had just delivered a baby. I didn't get ANY movement in my hand until 5 month post stroke and believe me I was trying. PT OT ST you name it I did it. I'm the mother of 9 kids. 5 at home so I stay busy. No time for stroke. But I'll agree I'm about 70% and I don't anticipate any more. I walk with an AFO. CANE and walker sometimes. I can talk. Although I do have slight aphasia and right side neglect. My arm/hand functions about 20% but I don't feel it's part of my body. It's hard to explain. Getting botox next month for the first time to relax the spasticity in my arms....

      @larrycrouse 2 года назад

      I have been having botox to stop the spasticity and believe me when I say it works . I have a psw every morning to help me get ready for the day and they were trained by the PT to do my range of motion exercises in the morning and they can tell when the botox is wearing of because my arm gets a lot harder to move. . Stick with it and good luck in your rehab and together we can kick this horrible disease out of our lives. My biggest problem is that I want my license back and it is very hard convincing my doctor that I'm ok and I can drive. It's just sad

      From what I've read up on so far,it's never set in stone the ability to help your brain make new connection. It is a longer process but can be done.

      Good day my friend! I just wanted to share my testimony of how God healed me from the effects of a stroke and now I can walk and talk just fine. If he did it for me, he can do it for you. The title is: “When God Forgets”. I hope it can be a blessing to you. Happy New Year 🥳

    I'm hopping when I try to take a step my leg seems to be holding weight fine except my knee starts to hurt. What do I need to do? Also I don't have any use of my arm and hand on the left side I'm having a hard time getting it to do anything.

      Feel your pain, my fine motors skills got affected on left side, anyway ttraining with stretch bands are really good to improve your recovery after a stroke, it makes you stronger over time to be able to support your body weight etc.

    This guy talking about strokes doesn't know what he's talking about I hate when all these people have pie in the sky ideas . I have been paralyzed for 5 plus years from a massive stroke when you are taken right after a stroke all they work on is walking and math no qrm or upper extremities. I felt the therapists just had a job clock out at the end of the day I was carried around from one tharapist to another one would see me and say good I could get you in early especially on Fridays thinking they get off early for the wekend. Others just say do this and come back after a week of doing it at home
