I don't agree that it didn't work out. Me and my whole group only got into Fortnite to play LEGO Fortnite, we branched to Rocket Racing and Festival a lot, and now are all mostly playing Zero Build. Sure, all the modes died, but they did bring a lot of people into Fortnite. (I hated Fortnite BR before I learned about Zero Build, only after I played all the other modes.)
I really want them to commit and finish the little details that are missing. I love the gamemode, but the stuff that's inaccurate kind of detracts from the experience (especially when advertised as OG OG). The Chapter 2 gun models, incorrect icons, things like that pile up. I've been playing nonstop regardless though. OG is awesome, even if it needs some attention.
Was watching this video to be surprised by the small view count. Super high quality stuff, but I think the viewpoint on festival (I mean you saying that people aren't booting up FN for guitar hero) isn't 100% correct. I think that festival is a great experience and every few days me and da boys get on ONLY to play festival. I think that partially because all the guitar hero counterpart games are either dead or not ftp, which is why festival is such a good experience. Anyways, I'm getting sidetracked, keep it up.
I think you are wrong about the lego mode. It was confusing at the start, after that it became boring, but when i came back after 1 year of not playing i had tons of fun and played lego fortnite for 2 weeks straight. I personally think it is a great first experience, not a random game you find accidentally, but people have different taste, so i can't judge you either

Yes epic has made lots of good changes and updates to the mode
