MAN O MAN!!!! MUSIC THAT MADE U DANCE!!!! We banged this so much in BMORE back in the day.....BIG UPS TO DISCO SKATE....LIBERTY HEIGHTS and GWYNN OAK...BABY!!!!!
The ultimate soundtrack to the Coin Up era... amazing to see this somewhere... anywhere. This was back when all you needed was a continuous beat and the rest was filling in the blanks.
Are you ready to throw down? When music was clean and fun. I don't don't know what this mess is today... I am from Baltimore, too. Remember block parties on the eastside, Eager St? I went to a few Madison rec. dances with Mr. Wells. I was sheltered back then. Now I am covered by the BLOOD of JESUS CHRIST. Skeeter, Lumpy, Junior? Sound familiar? Holla!
the bridge at around 3:20 still messes my up to this day. Nothin like DC. No other place in the world I'd rather be from. thanks for posting! Peace and Blessings!!!
Oh yeah, I had this cut back in the day when I was a teen. I use to see Trouble all the time back then - Howard Theater, Cherry's, Metro Club, Ibex Club, Washington Coliseum, any where they played in the DC area!
Wow ,I have been looking for a particular track for years, since around 84 It might be the next track On this list, chuck Brown Mr Magic.I got distracted by a very Beautiful face saying how she was On a Treadmill. Tammantha Shaw Is so sweet looking omg.
I got this 12" single at a thrift store before they closed down where they did the final sale. I got it for free along with a few 12" singles that I haven't got it in quite a while. This one is "Arkade Funk" which was the alternate version and issued as a B-side. The A-side is 6:00 while the B-side is 6:22. I'll have to try it out.
this is way there the best GOGO band hands down so many song that make you get up and move every body can tell you were they where when trouble put out a song just great band
@MrMaxPounder ...actually this is Trouble Funk . They were under contract to Sugarhill and couldnt record under thier name. Big Tony told me this personally......
@originalhiphop I dont know what Tony was telling you but Hot Cold Sweat and (Iceberg) Slim were an actual Go-Go band and DJ , respectively. HCS recorded for D.E.T.T. too but it was their band, not Trouble Funk and their band.
I remember being " High " Listening to this @ Howard Theater/Tricky Rick was playing it Before Mass Exstinction was about to come on....Man i was stuck in my chair ( I think i stopped smoking boat after that !) This was the SHIT !
HAHAHA I HEAR YA!! I lived a block away from Howard on Florida @ 5th. Used to smoke boat all through mid 80s. Last time i smoked was in like 93 and we rode bikes down to the Mall adter 4th of July crowds left, riding around seeing alllllll the trash folks left behind, ZOOTED LIKE SH1T! I miss those boat days.
there is everything going back in memory lanes. the music, the video games, the nightshift manufacturing chemical plant working site nightclub, the dancing place I've use to hang out, etc...etc...
My original 1982 12" was printed with Arcade Funk Tilt. What is the Trouble Funk connection? Apart from the Electro Funk / Go-Go genre as we would call it back in da' day on London...
At the time Trouble Funk had some mess going on with them and Sugar Hill Records. So they changed their name to Tilt just temporary then back to Trouble Funk.
David Young Go Go bands were part of the foundation of rap music. Pump me up was Trouble and the Furious 5. Trouble didn't just play the music they rapped too. I think EU plays the music for Kurt is Blow.
Interesting that you posted this side of the 12", I suppose the Baltimore/Washington area preferred this version. In Philly, the flip side got more exposure. The flip side was also sampled in a version of "It's Your Birthday" by Luke.
@MrMaxPounder .... JQ: Arkade Funk was my shit! It was credited to Tilt. That was just Trouble Funk under a different name right?
BT: Yes, like I said we were in a contract with Sugar Hill where we couldn’t record for awhile. So we did Dett records, and we recorded under different names like Tilt, Slim, Hot Cold Sweat, it was just us finding a way around that contract. Hot Cold Sweat was actually a mixture of Trouble Funk and the Hot Cold Sweat Band.

Still fun after all these years.
Fun fact - Funk means “radio” in German. Lots of vets learned that from our grandparents who served in the Army.

Apart from the Electro Funk / Go-Go genre as we would call it back in da' day on London...
rich Mck Trouble Funk was signed to Sugar Hill at the time, and they recorded under aliases
Same with their other D.E.T.T. record, under the name Slim, "It's In the Mix."

At the time Trouble Funk had some mess going on with them and Sugar Hill Records. So they changed their name to Tilt just temporary then back to Trouble Funk.
Thanks for explanation. I was at Fort Campbell, KY and they would play it in club and thought it sounded familiar but the group name threw me off.
