@Mike Stanley there isn’t one. Went down a rabbit hole of sorts to get connected with a Chinese manufacturer. I’m working on creating something anyone can order from. Don’t think ordering just one or two sets would be worthwhile for anyone compared to just ordering from the more expensive company in USA. If it is got my word I’ll let u know. If not I’ll try to set something up that might make it worthwhile

When I'm stopped by the police. I immediately roll down all the windows. This way they know you've got nothing to hide. It has worked everytime.

Most of the time they have already seen it and that's why they are pulling you over. If I was a police officer and I see the back windows down and no one in the back I'm going to assume you are trying to air it out from weed or alcohol. They are not stupid if they care about tint they know what your doing.
I do this as well her in Indiana I have 5% never gotten in trouble except for one time when I was with a group of car guys and one of them decided to do donuts in the lot, I got a ticket for tint so 🙃 I think that makes sense he got his car towed lol. Also if you roll all ur windows down the police seem to appreciate it pretty well. Maybe not in other states but here in corn country its fine.

i love it i had to remove my tint 3 times on my 2001 accord while newer cars get a pass every day.

Basically it's electric tint that can be controlled by a button from clear to dark.. down side is its much more expensive.. like a thousand dollars for just two windows..
Allowing cops to have dark tint and citizens not is unconstitutional--there should be equal treatment under the law. I could care less about "officer safety"--cops should be exempt from the laws they are meant to enforce.

I grew up in the 80s when mirror tint was legal. Folks were convinced that profiling or lack therefore was the actual issue. Somehow WE let them do this. Officer safety right? My grandad obviously lived in a time when getting pulled over was rare. But everyone "progressed." To what is my question. What are we progressing toward?

Be careful with that dark tint. Especially at night on side windows. I didnt see a person walking on the sidewalk until i saw them in front of my car. I was less than a millisecond from throttle down to exit a driveway. Just saying. Something like that will be more expensive than tint.

The only way cops can give you a ticket is if you consent to them testing your window.. This is a search. Cops need a warrant to search your vehicle or probable cause. A cop saying your tint is too dark is not probable cause, it is reasonable suspicion. Not enough for a search..

If you’re able, just get a tint waiver. I live in GA where the legal tint can’t go under 32% but because I have an optometrist that knows my eyes have progressively gotten worse , I qualify for a medical exemption. If you have any type of skin condition or eye or anything medical, you can get it.. just for $10 .. I think that’s the best route to go in my opinion if you can do so

People sign for it thinking they are required to do it or else they cannot be on the road behind the wheel of a car. They think that because they have not read and understood their state laws. The limiting factor to this is that the driver's view from inside the vehicle will be as obstructed as seen from outside (vs. traditional tinting). Yes, It can be adjusted by using the switch, but still...

It's useless while driving. Cannot see out of smoked glass. Ordinary tint is limited inward view but not effect outviewing, much.
I just got a 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport, my other one was totaled a month ago when this person ran a stop sign speeding and hit my car with 3 impacts!! I have been recovering from that trauma and I need something to put a bit of excitement in my life to go along with my new car...... this is so cool and I’ve never heard or seen this kind! Tint is top priority when I get a new car! I feel like everyone is watching me without it! Plus the Texas sun heats up the inside of your car excessively and tint helps for sure! I’d love to do this to my truck, it’s completely clear all around. I’d like to give it some extra character lol, and having a dimmer and on/off switch would be excellent for when I travel to different states on roads trips. I wouldn’t violate any tint laws by doing so

For the past 10 - 12 years, I've been using that magnetic tint. It looks exactly like regular tint, and you cut it like regular tint. But you can peel it off and reattach it.
I've gotten pulled over many times and as soon as the officer mentions my tint, I say to the office... "Thank you officer. Good looking out! I appreciate that." - And as I'm saying that, I use a fingernail to lift the edge of the tint and quickly pull the tint off the window and... Then I say, I don't want to be breaking the law so there. It's fixed.
So far I have been lucky because every officer has cracked up laughing. Even the crankiest one with no sense of humor, said "Hmmm pretty clever. Where did you get that?"
All of them have let me go with no ticket.

Just get a prescription from your doctor that you need tint on your windows for your eyes. They can’t over ride a prescription for your health.
That only works if you have it done at a state approved facility otherwise cops 👮♂️ will still ticket you. Been there done that.

You can still get a citation despite the Dr's note. However, the judge may choose to dismiss it.
They'll make you show up in court to plead that case.

Had my car 3 days and was like... Yep! Fuck this!! And dropped it off. California sun is bright.....but then there's ALWAYS those folk who drive around in the cities and freeways at night with their brights/high beams on!! And without tint...🤯🤪
Some states actually will let you tint all the way around, including windshield if you have a letter from your eye doctor stating you have really sensitive eyes to and in bright light. I know 2 people that have it and have their car tinted all the way around.
When I lived in Arizona, people were tinting their windshields with limo or 1 shade lighter

Fun fact, In illinois u get a specific plate for windshield tint. There is a list of diagnosis that would qualify you but sensitive eyes isnt good enough, that can be solved with tinted glasses, to get the full windshield tint you have to be diagnosed with something such as allergy to the sun, or albinism, etc. That would justify the whole cabin of your vehicle being dark
Honestly I think that minimal sky blue tint that came on mid 2000’s Mercedes looks the best on custom cars.

I don't know what state you're in, but here in Pennsylvania you must have at least 70% light transmittance to avoid a ticket. Therefore your 61% and 63% numbers would NOT keep you from getting a ticket if the officer chose to issue you a citation. Just some information so people aren't misled by this and still get tickets.

Yes I would do this. Several reasons. Night blindness as you said, temperature control to keep heat out, and a sense of or a sort of privacy, with severe anxiety at most times of everyday I feel more comfortable when other ppl can’t stare at me while inside my vehicle driving or other wise. My back windshield just shattered recently so I’ll need to re-tint. I had already planned on doing a white tint that I have on hand but unable to see through on either side so might’ve settled for the other tint I have on hand which is mirrored one way. But perhaps this would be worth a little bit of spending if you have the plug for the right price.. pretty awesome idea behind it. I have the inverter already. Thanks in advance for any further information.
I feel the exact same way. As far as I'm concerned, I've got nothing to hide so why should I care if the guy next to me can't see me from outside. Fuck em. I'm paying attention to the road which is what the driver should be doing.

Limo tint, you can still see out fine, looking in cops can’t see in.
Night time may be harder reversing with limo tint, but just wind your windows down at night to reverse.
Well worth it.
Safety of people inside, sun protection, groceries stay cool, valuables aren’t easily seen by thieves.
Had 5% limo tint on cars for over 20 years and recommend it myself.

Be meticulous on every detail and everyday will be like a new paint job for about seven years. Your welcome.
If I get pulled over at night I immediately turn my dome interior lights on. Works every time.
My friend got a fix it ticket. Still had the old tint on, turned on the dome light and the cop at the station just walked halfway to the car did a quick look and turned back and signed off. This only works near sunset time or later.

I got mine for repelling UV rays and keeping the heat, but for the looks was just important to me. I wish it was legal to tint the windshield to 40%ish. I understand why it’s illegal, but to a certain percentage should be legal. I see people who go full dark on the windshield and it looks awesome, and keeps all UV and heat out.

If you live in Texas, it's a must much like air conditioning. 2 solid months of 100+ degree heat and you quickly realize how it's a necessity. Especially as I get older and the heat affects me more.
When they started using those window checking tools I trimmed off the top two inches of my window and retinted it with the legal amount in that small 2 in. You barely even notice it because half of it is rolled up and then window jam. But when you roll the window down for them to check it they're meter does not go into the dark tint it stays in the legal tint strip. And it's a lot cheaper and a lot less gimmicky

Writing tickets for dark windshields should be illegal. Sense the auto is not owned by the state. Safety required products are a must.
But when pulled, the officer says " I can't see you." That's not a reason to pull someone. For 2 years, everyone entered a bank with a covid mask. You entered a bank before, with a mask, and you were told to remove it out of fear of being robbed. At American national, I was asked to remove my hat and glasses or leave the building, while an Islamic woman ( you couldn't tell if it was a Trans) had a burka on. Nothing was said to her. I told the bank to kiss my ass and called them un-American.

Just blend your window tint. From the front, to the sides, to the back being the darkest. I've never been pulled over and I live in a very strict state for window tint.

Sorry to disappoint but that is all by design all by design. If you remember I said on the video comment below if interested. This is a labor of love honestly. I'd be content just getting it for myself and being done with it. 1) The effort it takes to make this available on a mass level is more than you realize, so verifying the juice is worth the squeeze is a must. I've had to bang down doors of chinese manufacturers, etc. 2) Also, I'm an early adopter so I don't mind taking personal risks on new products BUT before recommending something that might put anyone else like you at risk I need to ensure i everything is right. So I hope you can appreciate the meticulous methodology I'm going at this. The goal isn't to just make it available b/c it already exists, it's to make it affordable. @@Maknificent12now , I've done some leg work on products from China. There definitely can be a massive amount to go through. My son worked for a company that had to send someone to China every couple of months to ensure their manufacturing partners were still in production AND meeting needed specification. The Chinese like a lot of feel-good hand holding and seeing what the end use of their hard work looks like here in the "West". Good luck. I own this patent.
I loved this stuff. had it on my camaro. One panel lasted about 3 weeks. replaced it, that one only lasted about 8 months. Honeslty first one was install error. The replacement was product reliability. if any moisture gets near this stuff it just falls apart, in a car door theres moisture anytime theres water outside in the air. even mine were sealed with neutral cure silicone (recommended by SmarTint). Great company and super helpful, but not worth the headache.

You could also just refuse to roll your window up when the officer wants to measure it. 5th amendment allows you to decline providing evidence, vocal or physical, that could've used to self increminate.

No worries for me I got a window tint exemption letter from the State Department of Motor vehicles. I just had my neurologist fill out the official forms for the state of Florida and got the medical exemption and all I paid for was postage. My windows are 5 percent all the way around and my windshield is 30 percent. No issues driving at night.

@@pittste88 it varies by state. I was diagnosed with photophobia which basically means that I'm sensitive to bright lights and they can cause migraines. Other people have auto-immune diseases which means that they cannot be exposed to prolonged sunlight. Here in Florida you have to fill out Fl form 83390 and have a physician sign it and you submit it to the state.

H.U.D. COULD BE INCORPORATED IN FOR THE GAUGES TOO JUST LIKE WATCHES, IT CAN HAVE VERY FINE PRINT. ALSO A CLEAR PATCH COULD FORM ON THE SIDE WINDOWS TO SEE THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS TURN ON.

Most states do not allow medical exemption. If you are visually impaired, you shouldn't be driving.

If you are ever being pulled over and you have dark tints, roll down all your windows. The police can't make it an issue, if you have given them full view of your vehicle interior upon approaching..

@@greghercher2068 panel is private when off so to make it clear you turn it on. It's not clear when off and private when on. it's similar to your headlights. Unless you wire in an automatic kill switch the lights will kill your battery

I own a repair shop in New York and window tint is part of the yearly vehicle inspection. You said something about 30% and what that means is the tint can not block more than 30% of the light. The tint meter measures how much light is coming through so the meter will read 100 without even putting it on a window because no light is being blocked so it sees 100% of the light. If 30% of the light is blocked this means the tint meter would read 70. I think you are confused thinking the tint meter needs to read 30 or higher but that is not correct it needs to read 70 or higher so with the tint reading in the 60’s it would still fail a New York State vehicle inspection.

I think we just need to somewhat conservative with tint. Don't go extremely dark but use a Ceramic to reduce some glare and keep the interior more comfortable.
I like the IDEA of darkening but that cloudy finish of the film just isn't the most appealing to me.
If they can figure out how to get a nice dark shade I think this would be nice. For a Club bathroom no problem ha ha 👍🏾
Its private property. They should be allowed to go as dark as they want. We do here. How you gonna tell people they're not allowed to shield themself from the sun in their own property.
@@rohandaniel311 The law is SUPPOSED to be about the driving safety where you can see out. If the tint is too dark, some people (as the video poster noted) can't see when it is darker outside. The law is then used to "protect others" from you harming them.
I agree that tint shouldn't be a problem, but your argument doesn't really work. If you tint the glass on your car all the way to mirror you're fine. Once you use it on property owned by all of us (public roads and highways) it becomes (in the eyes of cops looking to make ticket writing quotas) a problem.
If I get ticketed, I'm going to document my States Agency use of tint for Police Safety and I'm presenting my case as my window tint is for my safety. I will present evidence where individuals have been shot through their windows while in their vehicles. Where vehicles have been broken into by breaking the window and window tint makes it harder to break out a window. I will also present showing where under Rule of Law it isn't legal for government to make a law itself does not follow and ask for a dismissal of my case. If the Judge doesn't dismiss my case, I will next take my documentation to Sue for the deprivation of my Rights.

Same here. In vegas it is hot. Most cops don't ticket because of tint alone. In fact most of them have their own cars tinted at 5% all the way around. Here the cops say you should pull down all your windows so that they know you have nothing illegal or life threatening in the car. But the shop I got my tint installed said they take it off for free and put it back on too if you get a ticket. I don't have tint for looks. I have it to block out the sun.

@@greenchryslerguy482 well I have ceramic tint and with that I can have it at 50 or 75% and it will block out just as much as a 5% window tint. I opted for 5% in the back so no one could see my kids. I only have 35 in the front, but paid extra for ceramic tint to block out 90% of uv rays.

N I’d like to see it in an actual dark tint like black, that you can see through from inside like normal tint. And I hate rolling windows down at night to see. But I’ve gotten use to it through the years
You might want to wait till you see it tested first. It looks amazing but how well does that product age? Will it stop working a year later or 2?
Have the police officer check his tint. In most cases they are too dark also.

@@SwingingPythons Half the cops on my town have limo tint. Our legal limit here is 35%. The law enforcement acts as if they are above the law. They don't hire the best and brightest intentionally.

hey champ! thnx 4 watching! I'm all about working smarter not harder. I was taught you can't lead someone somewhere you've never been physically or mentally. Hence I'm waiting to put the info together until I install on mine first. Last thing i want is someone's family on my conscience you feel me? Patience is a virtue. I have a feeling it'll be worth the wait. Besides the info isn't available at all until I create it. I had to go through so much hell and red tape to get the info from the manufacturers as is. If someone else has wants to beat me to it, more power to ya. Otherwise gimme about a month or so and i believe you'll be glad you waited.

Haha, when the cop passed me he did a turn around because I don't have a front plate showing, then when he looked to verify that fact..it was there..lol, I hit the auto retract button! The cop apologized. My set up cannot be detected by looking!
The idea with window tint is you can see out but others have a hard time seeing in. This looks like you cant see out of it very well at all.

I'd go with the dimmer. Make it as dark as you want while driving,then, because it always takes a few moments for an officer to get to you, you quickly adjust the tint to where it needs to be; just make sure you've marked/labeled where that is.
And, if an officer is right next to you, as you're pulled over, just do the same thing. Simply find a rather ubiquitous location in your vehicle that is not only easily accessible, but not easily seen by anyone looking in from either side.
Are there shops that provide and install dimmers? I am in the washington dc metro region less than 10 miles from DC. Trying to google auto window tint dimming shops can't find anything. I was hoping to find a shop that orders or has the dimmer in stock (I pay for it of course) and I pay for them to install it. Also id like to find out if it's possible to have it to dim the front windshield and back windshield?
The problem is that it obstructs your vision where standard window tint reflects sunlight and doesn't obstruct it like this does. There are films that darken the glass that darken the view but standard tint is reflective. This just obstruct the view inside and out. Dangerous

Okay, turning it opaque white might work with a white car. But it's opaque. Having a clear window going darker but still transparent, that's what people want. Well, actually, having the window tint being able to be any color is probably the ultimate goal, though I'd settle for a dark tint.

I used to get popped for tint all the time in Ohio. Once I moved to Florida I haven't had any issues. 20% on one car and 5% on the other.
You almost have to have them tinted down here. In summer you can have your ac on full blast and still be sweating on every part of your body the sun hits coming through the window.

Was looking for this comment. Driving with this would drive anyone so crazy they'd rip it off in a week. This isn't a tint replacement option. While I do think the technology is pretty cool, having changeable "opacity" windows are likely going to get you into a citation anyway. This tech was invented for bathroom windows and other instances where full privacy is the goal.
Also, this doesn't even look as good as tint.
Props to the effort and the video. Being a RUclipsr is not an easy job.
Appreciate feedback. Only time will tell. This tint isn't virgin so it's been done so we know it's practical as a long term replacement. Issue is it's similar to cell phones during the time you had to be a doctor or drug dealer to afford one. Yes the phones were bulky, yes there were growing pains but it was destined to flood the masses. As soon as it became affordable it's now self evident as a no brainer tech. I believe same concept here. That said, only time will tell. But how is that any different than not being able to feel a/c when it's off. The feature is effective because you have the option to turn it on/off as desired.
