Thanks so much! Loved the interview and I agree that her encouragement and unwavering determination provided a push I desperately need. As AGM at a small select service property having transitioned from full service and a storm of other factors have definitely brought me to the brink of finally calling it quits after 19 years in hospitality. It is getting better; but it is harder to feel and translate this to real life tangible wellbeing for someone in my position. I am all set to transition to a new career but taking it day to day holding on to the promise, the dream and the nostalgia of what it is to work and run a hotel. There’s something so hard to explain for those that haven’t experienced it. It irks me when hospitality is solely referenced as restaurant workers and I feel we have to acknowledge and educate the traveling public on what it is to work in hotels and the passion, time, sacrifice and commitment it demands from us. For now I remain firm and optimistic, focused yet embraced by the new norm as is defined these days.
