What bedding mortar ratio is good to be used under the porcelain? 5:1 or 4:1? Should the bedding mortar sticking out of the tiles be crumbly and not as strong as a 3:1 ratio mix?
If you don't mind an off topic question? What do you recommend for restoring the sheen of aged, rough cracked granite? I've used vinegar and its works alright but wanted your opinion.
Roller brush is fine. The problem is to many in past would thin the stuff out to maximise the coverage also leaving 1-2inch uncovered not right round edges save there fingers seen so many posting up like that. If it’s mixed nice thick but flowable consistency no issues banging it on with roller or brush still fill the pattern tile no problems. If keep dipping the brush or roller. Basting it on

Why would you not do it properly? (Lift the slab, break out old base, relay with new mix and slurry the slab)
Suppose it’s quicker and your average DIYer might want an easier fix even if less permanent
