Demand for hot Christmas meals up almost 20 per cent

The Scott Mission prepared a massive Christmas feast for an estimated 400 people in the community this year. As Tina Yazdani reports, the demand for hot meals is up 17 per cent as food insecurity rises across the city.

There are a lot of kind hearts in Canada, but our commodified survival leaves so much room for crooked behaviour and stifles our positive growth. Consider a secondary safety net where children and adults have the option to earn a living wage from a place where they feel safe and loved, working towards an ensured basic standard of living for everyone (ensured safe housing, clean water, healthy food, quality education, and full health care), while achieving self actualization in the process. And a nationwide network of by donation places to eat where healthy food is grown on site, with cardio exercise centres where people can generate electricity and health data which could be used as a commodity to help ensure a basic standard of living.
