  • In this May edition of the Patreon sketch walkthroughs, I tell about how this sketch was designed. I talk about isolating the subject, rearranging elements, and adding elements to get a unique subject interpretation.

I took your Domestika course, and instead of using markers I'm trying to work with watercolors. I'm having a fair success, however I'm just not able to get as deeply hued a color as markers do. I'm trying different techniques and placing opposing colors beside each other to try to increase the contrast. I'll keep experimenting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

You would need to use almost undiluted paint for that🍀

I love the way you take a picture and then make it your own. Love your drawing style.

This was very helpful to see how you envisioned and sketched out a draft of one of your pictures from a pre-existing photo.

Hi Mary! For me it has become a really enjoyable part of creating a sketch!

I love your stuff. Even though I may never be able to get as good, its just wonderful seeing your artwork. In 2022, I purchased and watched your House Sketcher course on Domestika. Great stuff.

That was extremely helpful. Thank you so much! I’d love to see more like this. I would like to know where you find the inspiration for your embellishments and the thought process, like the fan for example and other items you often add.

I will do one of these each new month as an additional bonus for my Patreon supporters, who have access to the actual line and color file (in the apprentice and Master tier) or the colored version in the student tier.
The inspiration for the embellishments comes from looking around and from places I have visited, and even elements from previous sketches!🍀

New subscriber here. Love your work. Interested in your course but can you please provide the brand of markers/pens/pencils/highlighters that you use? Tks.

Hi there! Welcome here! A complete listing of tge materials I use is provided as a downloadable resource in the course. But that is only necessary if you want to follow to tge letter. Feel free to use your own material or other brands. Tge principles stay the same🍀

I'm also a very visual person, so I often draw out in Procreate and figure things out from there. But I think it's so much easier to use Photoshop. Guess, I'm going to have to learn that, too! 🙂

Both Photoshop and Procreate are great for this! If you feel comfortable with the latter. That is a really good alternative! And so much cheaper too🍀
