Loudon Wainwright III has spent 40 odd years making music. And fathering kids who grew up to make even more music. But now Rufus, Martha, and Lucy have to step aside for their dad, the singer/songwriter and actor who is celebrating his career with a retrospective called "40 Odd Years." I saw Loudon in Houston at Liberty Hall on Chenevert Street in 1975. He closed the show with "Twist and Shout." It was the best time I evert had with my sister.
Oh Lord.....thank God for people like this...
True wit, which is exceedingly rare these days! Brilliant Loudon and thank you for everything you have made!

I wish he was more famous. He is hilarious.
Omg this is the story of my life! Love this guy!
Louden you are something else , what a star
Saw this guy in a couple of classic MASH episodes. His style is great.
"You need something stronger than Advil and Aleve..." Yes!
I can't believe I'm just now hearing this song I've always liked his stuff but I never heard the song before. He's great :-)

o my god im here!
Thanks, Rob. With my head phones over my hearing aids, I managed to hear most of the words. Did he mention Dr. Ho, though?
"A band-aid and Mercurochrome could cure most of my ills." Ah, those were the days!
a family member just had 2 knee replacements.. I made a joke about being a tin man 😆
this surely is all the meds you need :)im cured
thats my doctor
ANYONE HAVE LYRICS?
Lipitor tore up my tendon, that was no damn good
So now I’m taking Crestor, ‘cause the doctor said I should
I cut back on the Avodart, it’s every other night
Lorazepam for those occasions when I’m wound too tight
Sure Lexapro has cheered me up so much so I don’t cry
Or get it up; so I might give some Wellbutrin a try
Girl, I swore off Cialis, I’m no longer in the mood
Four hours at attention, man, that could kill a dude
They say Ambien’s OK, long as you don’t drive in your sleep
If you operate machinery pray the Lord your soul to keep
Be aware that Vesicare can cut down on the trips
You make to tinkle in the night, plus subsequential drips
Ear drops, eye drops, nose drops, ‘cause dried up’s the shape I’m in
It’s like I need an oil can, I’m like that man of tin
Ice packs and heat patches for my aching knees and back
And that little baby aspirin to ward off my heart attack
I went down to Chinatown, the herbalist was there
I got some tea that tasted like a trucker’s underwear
Those acupuncture needles, nah, they don’t hurt a bit
And point of fact, those acupuncture needles don’t do shit
I should buy a Thai massage to get a few good hugs
Instead I head to the drug store and cop my load of drugs
When I was a little kid, I never popped no pills
Just a Band-Aid and Mercurochrome could cure most of my ills
Klonopin’s a controlled substance so I’ll bum ‘em from my wife
If the side effects don’t kill me, all my meds might save my life
I could drink and smoke and red meat, dairy and caffeine
I’m not quite high on life, just slightly dead, know what I mean?
I even asked the doctor: “Doc, how long can this go on?”
He said: “Son, you’re out to pasture, your next stop is Forest Lawn
You’ll need something stronger than your Advil and Aleve
If you want to eat and sleep and piss and crap and shtup and breathe”
Sad but true--but might as well laugh
AS funny as this may be it's so sad that too many rely on pharmaceuticals as they do. I take my supplements and some herbs and acupuncture does work in some instances btw. I've found that too many of those seniors who are literally walking around rattling on pharmaceuticals, won't hear a word about any alternatives......they'd rather live with the side effects and all that involves than take preventative measures which also includes changing one's diet and exercise.
whats with the tongue wagging?
He always makes faces and sticks his tongue out. Physical tourette's.
his lips probably get dry...
son your out to pasture next stop is forest lawn, youll need something stronger than your advil and aleve if you want to eat and sleep and stoop and crap and piss and breathe, no trues words were ever spoken
It’s not “stoop”, it’s “schtup”. Yiddish for, well, look it up.
Comical
Mud be somethin wrong wich me: no prescriptions: no benzos, Kent Christmas sermons, no DJT, CBD, mercurochrome, ketamine, peanut butter, aspirin, opioids, alcohol, obeastcity, acupuncture, weed, aromatherapy, no street drugs. Somethin def wrung wich me. Muh Engmush?
