Note: Announcer Gavin Wood was great at inserting artist-specific puns in his top 10 countdowns- take particular note of his announcements of Michael Jackson, Queen, and Player 1.
The segment and episode conclude with Molly Meldrum and the guest host of that episode, Boomtown Rats lead singer Bob Geldof, leading into the number 1 song of the week, Split Enz’ ‘I Got You’.
Vaxfacts: This episode, aired May 11, 1980, holds major significance for Vaxman80. As hinted by the Channel name, this is Vaxman80’s day of birth- little Vaxman came into this world just four hours after this episode first aired, in the same city this episode was filmed, Melbourne! This incidentally was Mother’s Day!
great memories ... wish I could go back there.
Imagine having a Top 10 like this today! 🎉 It could never happen again, but i really think society would be less divided if we did.
RIP Darryl Cotton
Cool list with Rocky Burnette,Janis Ian great song and Space Invaders got them all and play them great game and the song to set tone for the 80s.Go 80s never to forget forever for me
That Janis Ian song is one of the classiest disco hits ever...really cute track.
All Classics. What a Time
So much fun being a teenager in melbourne.. I would never miss an episode with my vegemite on toast and long glass of milo. it was doubly cool to spot me, my sister and mates in the audience whenever we attended the taping (which was quite regularly).

Tom Livanos Thank you! Much appreciated! Feels a bit odd getting to this milestone!
@@Vaxman80 I feel you man. If this year is anything like mine was (I am 44 now) then expect some turbulence. Apparently, it is quite common.. [shrug]... in any case, I have appreciated these Count Down top ten videos and I imagine that I will enjoy more here and there. You gave this to me/us. Thank-you.
How ironic..last night saw Janis Ian on tv..and today this is in my recommendations..
