My front struts are still good. So I can't complain my car rides like a boat it doesn't hit the bumps hard. Maybe you had some bad experiences with them. The concept of the "portholes" the 3 per side meaning V6 and 4 per side meaning V8 applies ONLY to the Lucerne! Originally introduced in 1949, They were intended to signify the relative size of the engine, Not the NUMBER of cylinders. ALL Buicks from the early 1930's through the early 1960s were 8 cylinder cars. For the most of their history they signified the relative PRICE LEVEL of the full sized line up, regardless of engine: IE: LeSabres had 3, Electras had 4.
Having 4 meant you had the TOP model.

I owned a 2007 Buick Lucerne with the 3.8L. It ran good up until 191,000 miles and at that point the engine developed a slight misfire on cylinder #1 that I could not even notice, but since the computer notices it, it will keep turning off the cruise control. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, the coil packs and the distribution plate that the coil packs sit on. He could not figure out what was causing the misfire and at around that time the radio speakers were crackling super loud, even with the radio turned off. I hated having my ear drums blown out and driving a car without cruise control. I would not suggest buying a Lucerne. My brother also had a 2008 Lucerne with only 80,000 miles. The climate control would not blow much heat on the passenger side floor board, so his wife was freezing her feet. The spent $2000 at the chevy dealership after taking it in multiple times and they could not figure it out. They ended up trading it in because of the problem. I will never buy another Buick Lucerne!

Turning in em just sucks in general idk imo they are a nightmare. My third car. Got it with 128 000 km and 13 months later I've had to put a new alternator in it a new battery. New sparkplugs. Bearings. And a few other tune ups...kinda annoying...now the steering wheel is creaking...and I keep everything maintained.. I think it may be the wrack and pinions...idk.. but yeah it's a 07 3.8 v6 cxl
