    My 2008 has fast become one of my all time favorite cars. Has anyone ever noticed the back resemblance to a 1974 Camaro? Look at it from the side....very similar roofline,taillight, quarter panel...hmmmm. I owned a 74 Camaro Z28 and not only does this remind me of it in looks but this would probably out handle my old Z28.

    This was the last BIG Buick, Still looks the part too, The sibling Cadillac DTS (Basically, the same car) is almost unrelated (stylewise) to any current Caddy, OTOH, The Lucerne STILL looks like a Buick. (even modern ones). Still to new to tell, But I predict a future "classic" American car.

      the last big Buick was the Roadmaster in 1996/97.....Lucerne was the last comfortable mid size sedan....Now they are all compacts.........Willie

    • @jamesslick4790
      @jamesslick4790 Год назад

      @@bonniejohnson1518 It's a matter of perspective. The 1990s Roadmaster was based on the 1977 downsized "B" body platform. The 1976 Century (a mid sized car in 76) was about the same size! Today the 1990s Roadmaster seems Huge until it's parked next to a 1976 Electra 225! The Lucerne was big a FWD Buick for the post 1985 era. And of course, Sadly Buick doesn't even make actual cars anymore .

    Love my 2010 Lucerne, would like to see Buick go back to it's roots. Instead of wimpy, cramped (for tall/large people) & underpowered 4 & 6 cylinder engines, this is the type of car Buick needs to return to glory.
    For those who didn't know, the Lucerne was built in the same factory as the Cadillac DTS, I believe GM wanted the Lucerne to play second fiddle. Eventually GM would overprice the Lucerne out of the market, the 2009-2011 Super was in the mid to upper $40K range, this was decently equipped Lexus & entry level Mercedes. To add insult to injury, Hyundai would introduce their well equipped luxury line in the Genesis. Which shipped with standard 4.6L V8 & a limited amount of their high performance 5.0 model (S-Spec) for a lower price than the Lucerne & many other luxury cars. These engines were just as good, if not better, then the Northstar in the Lucerne & several Cadillac models, according to many reviews. In fact, had I not found the Lucerne purchased, a Genesis S-Spec was next on the list to test drive.
    So the demise of the Lucerne wasn't 100% about the quality of the car, rather more in regards to price, or as some may say, 'bang for the buck'. The same would happen with the replacement for the Lucerne in the mid-sized Lacrosse in 2019. Given the competition in 2020, it would take a major chance for Buick to return to it's former glory. If things doesn't turn around for the brand, GM may drop Buick just as they did other siblings a few years back. Sad to see such a legend die like this.
    Yet for those of us who owns the Lucerne, if we just maintain it, can potentially go 200,000-250,000 miles. I plan to drive mine until the wheels falls off!👍

      @iked4421 10 месяцев назад

      Not necessarily more luxurious, the top model however is with the northstar V8 but you can get the same V8 in lower spec models but it has a little less hp about 17 i think. Youd be better of getting the V6 for longevity and cheaper to work on

    • @YorumiTech
      @YorumiTech 4 года назад +1

      Yes but prefer premium gass

    • @charlestilley2576
      @charlestilley2576 3 года назад

      @@YorumiTech I seen that too, but only after reading the manual, not on the gauge or door to gas cap. Had to compare a certain digit of the VIN on each engine to be sure of what gas to use, other than the V6 Flex Fuel models. These were still decently equipped, yet not as refined as the Super. Oh, and Flex Fuel is only best used when there's no other choice, as it's 30% less powerful vs regular unleaded. This means on an empty tank, one can go almost as far on 12 gallons of regular vs 18 of E85. On the plus side, Flex Fuel engines are cleaner on the inside after teardown, assuming the owner ran E85 'gas' most or all of the time.
      Be sure to check manual in regards to fuel, from what I've read, all of the Lucerne models with V8 engines runs on Super (or 91+ octane). Buick also recommends to run Top Tier gas in all of their cars, even those designed for E85 if regular is used instead. I run Shell Premium in my Lucerne Super & can tell a difference from when purchased. What I did was run as much of the gas in the car as possible, then topped with $20 of Shell Premium. After 25 or so miles, could feel more response from the engine. It's no problem for me, as I don't drive much (why I didn't fill tank). $20 of gas at today's prices will last me close to three months.🤣
      BTW, great video!👍

      It's probably an option. However, there's good reason to avoid having a sunwoof -- they add extra weight, reducing horsepower and gas mileage.

    • @Browningate
      @Browningate 5 лет назад +2

      @beenafactor - They are based on the same platform, but you get more cargo capacity and better looks with the DTS, all for about the same price on the used market.

    • @jamesslick4790
      @jamesslick4790 5 лет назад +6

      @@Browningate Wrong on styling, The DTS looks like it's TRYING to be a Cadillac, This car LOOKS like a Buick,Not "trying". If both were on the lot, at the SAME price, Give me the Buick. The same era DTS looks dated, and not like any Caddy now (Your neighbors WILL notice, and that's the BIG reason to buy Cadillac over Buick...) This STILL looks like a Buick even now.

    • @Browningate
      @Browningate 5 лет назад +3

      @James - I'm not seeing it. Not that the Lucerne looks bad or anything, but it clearly doesn't have the same presence as the DTS, which itself strongly borrows from the older Deville that it is based on (perhaps a little too much). So, unless you feel that the Deville that preceded it somehow was a wannabe Cadillac too, then your point has nothing to stand on apart from subjective personal preference. The sharp vertical Led taillights and clean trunk of the Cadillac easily trounce the Buick in terms of looks, and the HID headlights definitely appear meaner than the worn-out reflectors of the Lucerne. The innermost taillights on the Lucerne don't even do anything when you brake or signal - they're just there for decoration (and they dimly illuminate at night). They are effectively on the same "lot" for the same price. Blue Book value for the same model year (comparably-equipped) is almost identical. For the same price, I'll take the DTS and its superior cargo capacity and appearance any day of the week.
