Academy is a town of mages. Mages who pursue knowledge, summon genies, create constructs and different magic creatures... So the description was pretty spot-on.
Saying "that's shockingly jazzy" to a song from Diamond and Pearl is funny. The entire soundtrack is full of jazz and is awesome as a result.
1:23:13-1:27:09 Didn't see anyone mention it, but supermoon plays when ever you reach the galactic core, specifically the camera starts tracking back, until it reaches the edge of the galaxy, then pans towards a new one, which you're now in. might also be a battle theme, though there could be a different track dedicated to battle.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the stream or not (I may have missed it), but as a little fun fact in case it wasn't mentioned:
Song of Mana is sung by Annika Ljungberg who was part of the band Rednex, best known for their song "Cotton Eye Joe"!
Endless Space 2 YES! They have such sublime tracks for all the different races. Love the way it and Endless Legend are played. Flybyno has so many different feeling "cultures" in his music. He uses lots of instruments that just feel more spiritual, indigenous, etc. but with all the coolness of modern synth and orchestral backups
Legend of Mana(the entire Mana series really) is SO good! The song itself is like the sound of nostalgia. It SOUNDS like remembering taking a walk with both your parents in the park as a child before they started fighting, before the divorce. And the whole series is like that. Quests in LoM are all like "Two friends are separated by things like destiny and purpose, and one wants desperately to save the other from the hands of fate, but is it the right thing to do, and are they even the same person you're trying to save anymore? Also the two friends are sentient teddy bears."
For the record, Bravely Default AND Bravely Second (not Bravely Default 2) have FANTASTIC soundtracks overall. Some of Square’s best in my opinion. (I haven’t completed Bravely Default 2 btw, can’t rank that one yet)
Small context for that PSO2 music
Youre fighting Dark Falz Persona, an alternate timeline version of the player where they lost all hope after trying ungodly amount of times to change the timeline trajectory (lots of people dying, thus lead to despair and agony)
Dark Falz is an omnipresent entity throughout Phantasy Star series- depends on the games, plays a minor/secret boss role or the main antagonist(s). Dark Falz's goal is to destroy the universe and return everything to the void
In PSO2's case, Dark Falz brainwash people with strong conviction and make them pretty much canon fodder until it can resurrect again
Kind of surprised that the "Disgaea 3" opening got on here. It certainly is the wackiest of the openings the series has had. Not my first pick, that goes to Sinful Rose from "2", but I ain't complaining.
But yeah, as weird as it is, it does make sense once you realize that it's supposed to be a school anthem. The whole deal of "Disgaea 3" is that it takes place in a demon school, where being a terrible student is honorable and attending class on time, or at all, makes you a delinquent.
So the characters singing and dancing in the opening technically really are performing the song.

2:42:50 from what I understand, people were expecting Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs to be as scary as the previous installment, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, if not more.
Despite being both Amnesia games, most of them (including The Bunker) were created by Frictional Games, while AMFP was created by different studio called The Chinese Room and Frictional Games only acted as the publisher. Thus, AMFP's horror leans more towards story-based and atmospheric walking-simulator horror, compared to other Amnesia games which is more about survival and resource management.
Btw, other than Halloween, you can play AMFP in New Year's Eve. Sounds weird, but trust me. Its story hits different when it's played on Dec 31st 😅
Other Chinese Room's games, such as Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, also have magnificent soundtracks. Please react to its music or play that game, whenever you can 🙏🏾
