It can be very confusing. You might be absolutely sure a girl likes you, she may text you daily for 2 hours straight discussing everything from work to family. But then may suddenly pull away for no apparent reason at all. So you are left wondering, did she like you or was she just being extremely polite for no reason? If it's the former, what happened?

I've been talking to a woman at the gym. I'm in my early 50s and she's in her late 40s . We talk often she smiles and is always looking at me in the mirror. She's always smiling when we talk and she points directly at me and leans in when she laughs. I recently asked her to lunch and she very politely said no but she has a nice smile on her face. I think she was flattered and was almost apologetic. Here's the kicker. She said she's married but I never see her with her husband or a wedding band in public. So a little back story... my coworkers have known me for two years. They have known her for five years. Two of them from one guy and the third daughter from a different guy. The two, lost their dad in late February or early March of 2023. I had a cute girl at the gym giving me signals (which are now obvious six months later). When I feel things are going that way, I usually pretend I have a very jealous girlfriend (or allusions like Oh yeah we went to this place with my SO we loved it!)... It's bad to lie I know but at least it prevents her from "embarrassing herself/feeling awkward" 😅 If she's close enough to know it's a lie, then I go for the "precious friendship I don't want to lose" card...
