    Your channel has been a big inspiration and resource to me over the last 18 months and now I have my foot in the door at Leicester Tigers Women's rugby team as a club photographer at home games providing them photos to use on these social media and club site.

    Hi Mark. I am still near the beginning of my journey into sports photography, doing mostly lower levels of rugby and women's football. Do you shoot/save in JPEG or RAW? I'd also welcome any tips for shooting under fairly poor floodlights as the ones at the pitch used by my women's football team make everyone look like they're in an episode of The Simpsons.
    Love your videos and they are my go-to for tips and hints.
    Fion

    Hi Mark, I see that your Exp. Comp is a lot of times different. When are you changing that during the game?

    Just getting ready for a wet Hampshire AFC Totton vs Merthyr Town FA Trophy. I will be crowd side of the barrier due to a very tight run-off area. Just plan to use a 70-200mm only with ISO variable but around 12800 to 20000, Shutter 1000 and f2.8. These are a standard non league settings I use. Camera body is a Nikon D5. Average amount of floodlights per ground is around 16 covering the whole ground. Thanks for another great video.

    Interesting topic on Aperture for goal mouth shots on 70-200 about sacrificing depth of field for more players being in focus. I shoot my kids game with RF 100-500 where the Aperture adjusts based on the length so I always thought about setting it to 6.3 even at the 100 level especially for throw ins or corner kicks when the players are looking at you as the ball comes in.

    Another great video and set Mark. Grimsby is one of my favourite grounds and the people are really friendly there. I love how they write GTFC on their footballs, just like a Sunday league side would. Interesting how you go to f5.6 around the goalmouths, I think I may adopt that!

    Great stuff Mark some super images and fantastic composure . Covered two matches on Saturday , a Scottish Cup tie Dumbarton v Banks O Dee (Aberdeen side) with a Charity game in the evening for Renfrew FC so it was a late night and an early morning with the editing. Keep up the good work. @Deltamike Images.

    Nice set Mark. Am on my way to Lincoln v Oxford tonight, one of the worst set of lights in the EFL, no LED's & big dark patches so should be fun with the settings. I have done quite a few pan blurs at cricket with the bowlers it can work well but on the batters i get a result much like yours in this. Generally feel it has to have that blurred motion background for best result. Looks like Matthew Etherington has made more headlines since this match with Crawley crying foul on terms of contract and he has now stepped down from interim role at Colchester. You may have the only shots of him as Colchester manager.

    Nice one Mark, agree with the motion blur shot not quite working, but I do like it as a shot. it looks like he is coming more towards you so haven't got that blurred ground effect..but I have always liked a bit of blur in my shots..leaves, grasses and of course motorsport etc..

    My sports shooting is mainly confined to my granddaughter's rugby hub. Three age groups and all of them love the occasional floodlit game but it's my nightmare. They are only playing low grade pitches with lights that are really poor so it makes photography an absolute nightmare. Really high ISO's, terrible noise, slowish shutter speeds, colour casts, you name it they have it! The pitches don't usually have stands either so the backgrounds are often just black voids....yeuch.
    Still, the teams always appreciate whatever they get which makes it worthwhile.

      @@MarkKerton Anytime I use it I get mostly very dark images. My 1DX with the 70-200 DOES not like it.
      I can use it no problem on the 1DX II any ideas Mark 🥴

    Hi Mark. Thanks for another great video, full of interesting information. Out of interest, what was the reason for negative exposure compensation and was it the histogram that triggered changes in the value? Thanks, Jim 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    I think 1/2000 on a night match of league 2 and poor floodlights is way too high. I think you would get away with 1/1250 and lower ISO for less noise. Have you tried Auto ISO? By the way the pan shot is good but a higher speed 1/50 or 1/60 could have reduced the blur on the players face and still give sense of speed.

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  11 месяцев назад +1

      Think most of the set was shot at 1250 at Grimsby. Was in auto iso yes, my favoured choice as a rule. Still experimenting a bit with the old pan blurs, like you say, 50th might work better under the lights. Didn’t like this pan but thought I’d show it and explain why. Thanks for watching, appreciate the support👍🏻
