this is the best documentary i thinki have ever seen...i saw it about two years ago, and i think of this boy almost every single day...this is the most amazing story, and it changed my perception of the world. if you want to learn, and expand your mind, you must walk a mile in another mans shoes :)
some of it is..i just found it so moving and powerful :-D this monks master dies and before he dose he teaches his student all he can about buddisum and instucts him how and when about he should begin looking for his reincarnated spirit...the student then embarks on an increadible journey to find his reincarnated master..i dont want to ruin it..but it basically explians the relationship between a monk and his student..and how they serach for eachothers souls in death in order to continue the cycle of teaching and learning of two souls bound together in eternity...so cool..much like a different take on a marrige of soulmates ..enjoy
please do! i am so interested in others opioions on this:-) my best gf watched and also enjoyed very much! she is of jovoavh witness background and alwyas has a cool insight..i believe everyones opioion is valid no matter race. religion. culture .or gender/sexual orientiation..
vinthesin613 I couldn't agree with you more, I was raised catholic but I started to question my faith, I believe all religions brain wash us also they have all got there own agenda's so now I'm simply a follower of Yeshua (jesus)
This was a fantastic movie. I could watch it over and over again. People need to stop trash talking a belief or culture. What is the difference between being taken by monks of Christianity and monks of Buddhism? Life is all about perspective and to live life with only one perspective is to live life an ignorant fool.
@statemindful I have a question about Unmistaken Child. I saw the movie without subtitles so I do not know if the child choosing the items on the table were all correct. What did they say? Did the kid choose the correct items? All of them?
Hi Nati, I really enjoyed the trailer. I am also from Tsum valley, a village called Gok which lies before Chekangparo. Its interesting since i always wanted to make a short documentary about tsum and i started self learning and doing apprenticeship right now. And hopefully when you come to Nepal i would like to meet you.
How holistic is it to completely dismiss a spiritual point of view/belief with which you simply disagree? How holistic is it to circumscribe beliefs as only that which is "rational"? Things that were irrational a century ago is are now completely common, not just rational? BTW, I was trained in hard sciences (biology & chemistry), am now a network engineer, and am also a Zen Buddhist. I do not know a lot about reincarnation, but I don't lash out at others who believe it.
It is not only that the Tibetan buddhists bring all the other branches of Buddhism into disrepute, you have to say that there is something fundamentally wrong with Tibetan society when so many of it's young men are content to live off the backs of the poor.
"I thought" ... there you go again! :) Seriously, I don't deny A SELF exists, and I don't think Buddhism "believes" that. The self exists AND does not exist as we perceive it ... the self you perceive this moment is illusory.
You haven't actually attempted any form of dissent to what I've said - just attempted to defame my character a little as to make my argunt weaker. Unsuccessfully I might add. Furthermore, it has nothing to do with this. If someone from America or Australia or Britain was partaking in a similar sort of silly find-the-rincarnated-form-of-my-master I would feel exactly the same way.
Flockofseagulls: Sorry for the slow reply. I am honoured that you think I can reply ... I am just a beginner, so I'm afraid any answer I may have is simply a novice and perhaps incorrect understanding. The self, as I understand it, means the "true self". In an unenlightened state our perception of our self is deluded; we think of the stream of thoughts ABOUT our self to actually BE our self, but it is not. And our self is never static or constant; it is always changing.
The actually are a lot a tibetian nuns. The are entire monostaryes devoted to female religous practice. That most of the reencarnations are boy, comes from the fact that most of the lamas (The old ones at any rate, hense those who die) are men.
I think the reason I took the time out to comment on this movie is because I find it highly disturbing, not because of some ridiculous fantasy of yours.
You could say that since they were men, they would be more likly to reincarnate as men. But I don't understand you're point, there are a lot og women in buddhism, but of course a religion were there are most men, will tend to favor finding what they think is the reencarnated masters in male children.
He's deluded because he actually believes he will find the reincarnated version of his master in a child and simply 'know' it is he. What a ridiculous concept. Such fiction. Such nonsense. It's like searching for a needle in a haystack; only there is no needle.
How can it be there is always a reencarnation in a boy? Why is never a girl for centuries and centuries? Now yoga meditations and practices has reach all people in society. Why the tibetan wise men makes reencarnate over and over in a man, why they never choose a woman?????? Why there is not tibetan nuns????
Tom, when you say it like that, it makes it no more unbelievable than a guy living inside of a fish, or man walking on water. Don't want to start a flame war over religion, but let's try and keep things in perspective. This isn't a movie made to convince you of reincarnation.
So, because they are men, they reencarnate as men too? That doesnt make any sense. I thought it didnt matter the gender in reencarnation, just mainly the lesson one is supposed to have in that very lifetime.
Again, not even the sligthest attempt at any form of dissent toward my argument. Always some kind of semi-poetic attack on my spritual character. I care little for your analysis of my spiritual credibility. I do not post opinions for that reason - I beckon rational thought and logical reasoning. You have presented to me that your reply hosts neither of these virtues, and as such, I have no qualms dismissing it.

Í have seen the reincarnation of Lama Konchog, a lovely boy
The Buddhist concept of reincarnation, while both mysterious and enchanting, is hard for most westerners to grasp.
Wow. I'm going to watch this.
Have you even seen the movie?

Why is he "deluded"? Are you so delusional to believe that your dogma is more realistic than his?
