Good afternoon Howard, I thought I would drop you a comment and let you know that I have successfully passed my ADI part 2 driving test today with 0 minors. I have been watching your videos, over and over again. I have found them extremley interesting and infomative. I have had very little input from my ordit register instructor. (ie 4 sessions)The majority of my training has been self tort with a huge help from yourself so I would just like to say thank you for you help and support. your help has been invaluable. many thanks.
Thank you Howard, been an ADI for 15 years and always learn something new from your videos ... fantastic way to describe road positioning using numbers! Thank you so much!
excellent video. I passed my part 2 test the other day :) 3 faults. 1 for rubbish parallel park. 2 for late indicating when leaving motorway. was told I should start indicating as soon as I pass first countdown marker or do it atleast before the 3rd marker vanishes.
Some great content here and on your channel more generally. Thanks for this. It would be good to see more stuff relating to advanced driving if that's possible. All the best.
Good point, DVSA say stay centre, but in my experience with SE, they have only marked a minor fault once. That was with a Police instructor who adopted a wide right position before a left bend. Up to but not over the line tends to be acceptable for Part 2, but I take your point. Thanks for making it.
I have passed my IAM test and got a FIRST, i have just booked my ADI part 2 but i am still very nervous even though i have passed my advanced test so i hope i do well, great video and good advice, i am aware of IPSGA that IAM use 👍
In my experience SE's will allow, but essential skills say stay centre of lane. If there is a white line, stay left as this will normally record a driver fault on Part 2
Yes sure, we use a selective gear changes, so slow down and be prepared to stop, once the view (limit point) opens up and we can make our decision (stop or go), select the appropriate gear for the vehicle speed. That will be a rolling first if we can't see or can't go, or if clear maybe 2nd or 3rd depending on how open the junction is and our speed. We want a smooth gear change. One hazard, One gear. Does that help you out?
I am going through a course just now on Advanced Driving. The thinh that I find hard is to go along a rural road at 60mph . You never know what could be round these corners, e.g Horses. Cyclists, tractors etc. They say travel at speed you can stop easily but I am not so sure.
Yes you need to make safe progress and that you can judge the severity of an unknown bend by using limit point analysis. You must be able to stop well within the distance seen to be clear. Ask your trainer to demonstrate the use if IPSGA on rural roads and how they avoid brake / gear overlap and match the limit point when accelerating keeping stability through the turn.
I’ve a part 2 coming. I really want to know if it’s okay to use both feet on an automatic car? Will I be failed for that? I think my car is in better control when I use both my feet.
The DVSA are fine with either pull push or rotational steering methods as per DT1. As long as you are in full control and the steering is accurate and smooth. Best practice for driving is pull push for sure but slow manoeuvring many find it more effective to use rotational, ie crossing of hands.
Yes, of course rotational steering at low speeds is acceptable. It’s quicker and more efficient rather than pull push. The DVSA are not that regimental, as long as you’re in full control and the steering is smooth and accurate. Think more about the outcome than the method. 👍
Hi. Thanks for video. Im trying for part 2. Could you pls let me know Which book would you recommend for helping part 2 ;essential skills by DVSA or road craft. Kindly reply. Thsnks
Hello, as its a DVSA test then Essential Skills, but Roadcraft is great for developing advanced driving and system of car control. Get them both, as you'll need them in your new career as an ADI
Sorry the big issue with these videos, it is very textbook based driving the conditions don't vary at all, how come on this type of road we never see a driver who is right up your tail and just wants you out of the way. Why does the commentary go quite. Let's have proper driving with different conditions.
Narjit Mankoo ok I’ll go out in the rain next time and drive slowly so others can catch me up! I was making progress on rural roads as a demonstration of system, yes the test will include dual carriageway, city and possibly motorway.
@@How-2-drive Thank you, in no way am i trying to criticise your driving far from it i think you are excellent. I look forward to your watching your videos. Could you please do a video on Smart Motorways also Thanks again
@@How-2-drive Actually i am not doing my ADI , i have been driving for ages passed my test in early 80s, with the changing traffic conditions i just want to improve my driving. I feel a drivers from my era could do with bucking up their driving skills. Thanks
This guy is superb.
Why ?

Great job!

Thanks for this video. I'm waiting / practicing for my Part 2 test.
So I'm sucking in as much knowledge as I can 💚
This is ridiculously helpful even as a learner, thanks Howard!

Hi, I am doing Rural Roads for my Part 3. Many thanks for posting this, a lot of useful information for my notes, many thanks 👍
Hi,
Thank you very much for your video, am training for Part 2, test is very soon.
Would love more videos about part 2.
I have my part 2 test on Monday. Very helpful video
how did you do ?
19:04, Should you not have given way to the vehicle on the other side?
Yes, there is a "Give Way" line ACROSS the carriageway before the narrow bridge for this reason.
Some great content here and on your channel more generally. Thanks for this. It would be good to see more stuff relating to advanced driving if that's possible. All the best.
Yes will do, I am planning to make more video's soon, thanks for your positive feedback

Thanks for making video and clarification.
What is a SE?
Is it necessary to drop into 3rd gear on a 60mph road when accelerating out of a corner? Would that be marked down for uneconomical driving?
I have passed my IAM test and got a FIRST, i have just booked my ADI part 2 but i am still very nervous even though i have passed my advanced test so i hope i do well, great video and good advice, i am aware of IPSGA that IAM use 👍
Best of luck!
Not sure position 3 is allowed on the part 2. Please comment.
In my experience SE's will allow, but essential skills say stay centre of lane. If there is a white line, stay left as this will normally record a driver fault on Part 2

Rrally helpful..youre a brilliant instructor! If i can stay with family in norwich..do you do mock tests for adi part 2 please? ( in norfolk)

@How-2-drive yes of course that's fine...be helpful to be able to rewatch! 🤣🤣 and entertaining for the fam lol

Can you please make another video of part two ADI test. Great information given in this video
Can you make more videos of part 2 please
Quite a few speed changes on the country road where you didn’t check your mirrors.
Can I take my car for adi part two with engin management light on.
I had one the other week and the DVSA allowed it. You may want to check with your local test centre to be sure
Hi please can you advise if I am allowed to use my own car for the test ?
Yes of course you can
Hello Sir, just wanted to ask if i pass my p2 on automatic car, can i work on manual car ?
I’ve a part 2 coming. I really want to know if it’s okay to use both feet on an automatic car? Will I be failed for that? I think my car is in better control when I use both my feet.
I’m not sure! I’ve always believed you should just use the right foot, unless slow manoeuvres.
Any videos on part two with an automatic car
Great work sir 👏
So nice of you
Great video Howard.
Hi Howard. Great vid as usual. I noticed you crossing your hands when doing your reverse manoevre. What is your take on that?
thanks Rob

you were crossing your hands during reversing, is that acceptable?
Yes, of course rotational steering at low speeds is acceptable.

Good vid, I'm studying for part 2 but don't feel like I'm making any progress, don't know if that means I'm already a good driver or just thick 😄
Wow! I would get exhausted from all that commentary whilst driving. I wish you could do a lesson on London roads.
