Please keep in mind that a lot of platinum rings are alloyed with cobalt so they will be magnetic. Always use the scratch stone and acid.

Thank you for this information i really appreciate it 🙏
Thank you for this video I found my platinum necklace to be real platinum keep it up
Nice video and test
Nice Work !
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Thanks.
The scratching on that block was enough to tell which is platinum.. 😉
Yeah it still hurts my ears to this day lol. I actually had to edit the sound down for that split second so it wasn’t even more obnoxious than it already was lol
@@treasuresandadventures I believe you. I am at this point where I just listen to the sound with the nuggets I find and it's enough to identify them. Only in some rare occasions I will use the acid to make sure I am right.
Thanks for making this video
No problem. Nice profile picture. Dogecoin to the moon!!
@@treasuresandadventures Haha thanks. I've had this profile pic for years :)
Can you tell me how to extract metals from catalytic converter
Great video!
Thank you!
Question- if you leave the platinum testing liquid on the platinum you tested will it eventually dissolve too?
Can you use a battery acid to check if it’s dissolve
Ciao ai provato con acido nidrico il platino se la traccia spariva nn era platino giusto se rimaneva e platino giusto
What about stainless steel? Won’t that hold up to the platinum test liquid?
Thank you so much this was really helpful!! I recently found this sort of stone when I was outside it looks alot like a platinum nugget! I was wondering where to get the platinum tester liquid to see if it is real? Thanks! 🙏
No problem! That’s awesome that you found that, hopefully it’s platinum! If you click the description of the video, I have links for all of the acids that I use in this video.
@@treasuresandadventures Thanks!!
@@GoodTimesWithiona no problem! Let me know if it ends up being platinum, I would love to hear about it.
COUPLE OF QUESTIONS: 1) What kind of (rare?) "Earth" magnet are you using? Source? 2) Is there any way to test for stainless steel (non-magnetic) or is the earth magnet powerful enough to attract it? I know that one of the tests for silver bullion (also non-magnetic) is to slide it over a powerful magnet and silver's electrical properties slow it down. Obvious newbie here. Thanks!
That's okay but if I do a primary test to confirm platinum heat with fire , what result will show to me ?
Does the platinum scratch eventually disappear when testing real platinum?
Can you use this method to test Rought or raw (unmelted)Platinum? Many THANKS
It should, although I have never tried. They are both pt-78 on the table of elements so they should test the same. I don't see why they wouldn't. I hope that helps, sorry that I have never tested raw platinum and can't give a definite answer.
question? what if its stainless because stainless is very tricky when you testing it with 22k solution its still stay on the stone kindly make video with those testing Idea pls thank you
I agree to that question.
One way could be the scratching on the stone itself. While we can see the lighter and softer to grind Silver on the stone already platinum was harder to scratch off and steel will be even more harder to scratch off. Disadvantage is, that you always need samples to compare with. What do you say about that?
I'm not being a smart ass but wouldn't the magnet stick and already count that one out before ever getting to that?
Can you do one with palladium and platinum. 😎🏴☠️👍
I´ve found a Nugget in the dried River Rhine bed around 15 cm under normal stones and people in a Detector Group gave me a hint to Platinum Nuggets. The fotos of Nuggets which were worn under stones in the water look like what I found. I have a Gold and Silver Acid Test set only and have done the Test with the Gold 21.6K Test Acid and waited 5 minutes. The lines stayed and it was difficult to clean the stone at the end. Would the 21.6K Gold Acid work with Platinum too? Thank you!
Sounds like it might be platinum then. Yes, you can use 21.6k/22K gold acid if you don’t have platinum acid, but also do the magnet test. If it’s not magnetic, and the line stays, you have a more pure platinum. If it’s magnetic, but the line also stays, it could still be platinum but with cobalt as well.
@@treasuresandadventures It is non-magnetic. It has airodynamic shape and could also be a Platinum Meteorit. Today I have an appointment at a specialised company for doing an XRF Test. Will post the result.
@@treasuresandadventures I've already done a Test in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide last week and after 30 secs it started creating bubbles over the whole object.
@@j.k.6569 Yes, please keep me updated. I’m excited to hear what the results are. That’s very promising seeing the bubbles.
@@treasuresandadventures It's an Aluminium Mangan Alloy. :-)
Ciao ancora video
Will 18k white pass the platinum test?
See ya in the one coast range
Stainless stainless steel is not go for nitric acid same as Platinum then how I understand which the Steel which the platinum?
I agree to that question.
One way could be the scratching on the stone itself. While we can see the lighter and softer to grind Silver on the stone already platinum was harder to scratch off and steel will be even more harder to scratch off. Disadvantage is, that you always need samples to compare with. What do you say about that?
Yeah same question
Isn't there a PT 925 for platinum?
My necklace says 925 PT. Is this real platinum and if so, is it worth money?
If tested with HCL, how does PLATINUM react?
specific gravity
Does scratching on the pad damage jewelry? Thank you in advance
Yes but usually not very much.
Can you tell me what metal turns white/blue with 14 AND 18k acid? The platinum acid and 22k acid have no change. I can NOT figure it out!
Plata se vuelve justo así, un blanco azulado .. algo así como leche cortada pero algo azul, espero halla aclarado tu duda
I got a earring that has 900 on it the internet said it’s 90percent platinum I used a razor on the side of it and it’s really hard compared to 925 silver it might be platinum
Platinum in bars and coin are really difficult to fake, jewelry on the other hand can just be plated, but so far haven't seen any platinum plated pieces.
I don’t think there is any available electrolysis that transfer platinum to a piece of jewelry. You need electrolysis to plate items.
some platinum alloys with cobalt are magnetic
Correct. I should have clarified that, but this was more for the scratch test. If it passes the scratch test and is magnetic, it’s a sign of cobalt. If it’s non-magnetic and passes the scratch test, it’s a more pure platinum.
What if I use the platinum ring to a 18ct acid solution?
Sorry for the late reply, if you don’t have the acid for platinum, he will want to use 22K acid as a substitute.
Who the duck has a earth magnet and a scratching stone at home
How much is platinum per gram?
i noticed platinum is harder when scratching it, am i correct?
Yes very
Platinum rules
Er, just weigh it instead? Density is 11% higher than even gold.
Indeed and informative video. Have lots of Platinium in Papua new Guinea but need chemical to do home test. How do I purchase chemical from oversea? Provide Hints.

Re:comms. Quality Stainless eg 316L not magnetic. Stainless 420 tool steel is magnetic for holding on mag chick of surface grinder etc. Scrap yards test with magnet, if it picks up then dropped in mild steel bin
Palladium i need to no how to test palladium but no videos on here nor google.
I have bunch of class rings with palladium and silver in them
