    I'm so glad you showed the 18k testing acid. It would appear to be more accurate.

    Just saying, but a magnet will not rule out stainless steel, it's not magnetic. ;) Try the magnet test on your stainless steel cutlery, if you don't believe me.

      Depends on the quality. Cheap chinese "stainless " will have some magnetic properties.

    The 18k solution actually dissolves the silver, but as the silver is dissolving it reacts with the solution and produces a silver catalyst. So the line you are seeing is not undissolved metal, but is the catalyst produced after dissolution. 14k and 22k solutions will dissolve the metal too, but will leave no trace catalyst.

    How do you clean off the scratches from the stone? Some came off with soap and water, but some didn't! Also, if you do acid test directly to metal, can you still melt down and use metal after test, or do you need to get rid of that piece? Tia 🙏

  • @ReefMimic
    @ReefMimic 2 года назад +2

    I bought the Same brand type test from Amazon. I use pool acid every day. For some reason I don’t think my Jsp acid is as potent as yours;(
    How to you clean the pad?
    My pad is super hard to see with both acids. I put the acids on the silver in question and I got better visible results.
    Bad acid?
    Bad dark pads?
    Better to buy direct?
    Low quality silver?
    Idk

    • @treasuresandadventures
      @treasuresandadventures  2 года назад +2

      I like to clean the pad using scotch bright scrub pads or something similar. Mine also might have been more visible, because I put a lot of material on the scratch pad. The more material, the brighter the results. it could potentially also be a case of bad acid, it does have an expiration date, and I would imagine it looses potency over time.

    How can you determine the %-content of silver?

    • @danieldambrosio50
      @danieldambrosio50 2 года назад +3

      timm- in my experience high silver content meaning 90% or higher will scratch easy kind of like scratching chalk on a chalkboard. When you have to press real hard it could be a lower grade silver. Sometimes silver is marked say 925 but it is less not fake just less silver.

    • @treasuresandadventures

      Yes it will. The 18k gold acid will not give you exact content but if it's marked 800 and turns bluish white it's most likely 800.
