@@PassportGaming No, they made it because Sony wanted the remake. That was literally in all the reports. And then we found out the same thing happened with the Amy Hennig situation during Uncharted 4. Basically, it's very evident that druckmann is a my way or the highway type of manager and conflict within the studio as well as forcing employees into burnout pushed everyone else out, effectively destroying what it once was.
I was gonna leave a comment about Druckmann but it seems it's pretty unanimous. Don't get me wrong, The Last of Us was a great game but the success really went to his head and he really seems to believe his own hype.
I keep seeing this sentiment but I don't see it reflected in his actions and his words, in fact it's pretty much the complete opposite. Fairly sure the young and ambitious Neil Druckmann that directed and was the sole credited writer on TLoU 1 which was his inital pitch from college brought to life iwas much less receptive to feedback than Neil of today. More recently, with his experience with TV, he liked the process of a writing room so much that he wants to implement that concept within his future project(s). My guess is that Last of Us 2 way underperformed and Sony has probably given them an unspoken ultimatum. Nobody is untouchable. Sony sinks a lot of money into them, and if they don't deliver a good product then they could end up on the chopping block. There's a reason Last of Us Remake goes on "sale" for $50 while Last of Us 2 goes on sale for $9.
Your guess is correct. TL;DR but it had a 200m+ budget and, at most, only made 140m. The "remake" even didn't make it's money back (At first) on consoles since it had a 40m budget but may have scraped by due to PC sales. Thank you for putting a word to what I've been feeling about ND the past few years. It is arrogance and its coming from Neil. Neil has been so arrogant ever since TLOU P2, thinking the game was a masterpiece when people have been giving him legitimate criticisms about the marketing and pacing of the story. But with all of the awards and praise from that game and the TV show, he's only getting rewarded for his behavior. Its shown with the live-action adaptations too! Neil is a right hand man with the TLOU show, making sure it gets the best treatment. Whereas Amy Hennig gets shut out of the Uncharted movie and it only gets a Nolan North cameo. Now with the show Neil is being stretched too thin. He needs to let Craig Mazin fully take over or let someone else be CEO. ND is not a tv/film studio and he's holding it back. The reason the company is different now, is because Neil's copartner Bruce Stanley left the team after uncharted 4, Neil on his own directed tlou2 and ever since I'm convinced Bruce was the main source for the masterpiece of games. I was not a big fan of Neil's directing of tlou2 it felt like he knows movie cinematics and didn't mix them well and considering he's working on a show rather than gaming it's clear to me Bruce was the gaming expert and Neil's heart isn't all into gaming

The thing that people need to realize is that Naughty Dog from 10 years ago is not the same as the Naughty Dog we have now. This new Naughty Dog is way too concerned with story driven games that are reflective on the modern times (LGBTQ acceptance). The problem is that the message they want to spread got so far up their asses that any questions or criticism is deemed racist or anti-Semitic. Naughty Dog, the one we loved for giving us new and unique fun experiences, is long gone. Current Naughty Dog does not want us, since we are too problematic, its best that we let them fail, maybe then we will get a Naughty Dog that cares about its fan base.
Even if the multiplayer was to die a few years later, I’d still love to see it. I don’t care for the long term stuff, I just want a fun experience for a while, the same way it was for all the other multiplayers they made.
The realm they tried to explore with TLOU2 they seems to have been cursed for eternity. Was eagerly waitin for ur latest take. Long time. Welcome back.
20:50 Yeah, who are these people? Who’s saying this? LoU2 has MAJOR gameplay issues. Level design is atrocious, for one. Big, empty spaces that are simply there to waste your time and pad the game. There’s barely any world building artifacts to discover, nothing cool or interesting to be gained gameplay wise. It’s just endless, empty, and there’s some rags and junk lying around. Massive issue, right there. The AI is very basic, as well, downright stupid, at times. The combat is very similar to the first, which was fine for the ps3 but not a modern game. Last of Us 2 has major issues, beyond its horrendous, nonsensical, surface level story and writing.

Naughty Dog just sucks anymore. They barely put out a game every five years and when they do it has no multiplayer. There’s zero reason to stick with them. I’m telling you ever since Amy Henning left it has just been going downhill fast. It’s inexcusable how it’s going to be probably a decade since we’ve are going to get a new multiplayer from Naughty Dog.
Amy Hennig hasn't released a game in 12 years and all of her games have gotten cancelled. You should be thankful she's not at naughty dog anymore. You people go on and on without using an ounce of your brain.

I appreciate the video Robin, you’re echoing my thoughts. Naughty Dog has changed for me. Making a live-service game shouldn’t be rocket science. That being said, there’s an over-abundance of dead live-service games out there that couldn’t even last 2 years of being out, because they had no clue how to hold it afloat. With all the info that’s came out about scaling back the game, and moving staff to other projects, I think there’s a high chance we won’t see this game for another few years now. Sony’s last live service game (Destruction Allstars) that came out 2 years ago made me realise just how out of touch they are. I just hope with all the other LS games coming out, it’s not an issue that keeps coming back, even with Bugie’s help.
It is actually rocket science, which is the space is occupied by a few giants overseeing a literal graveyard of never released or closed GaaS games. Which is why I was always apprehensive about the thing.
@exoo its not, fornite was a fluke 1 in a million smash succes. Destiny has never made the money, epic made. Sony should focus on single plaher and then co op and then slowly move into monitisation. GTA5 was also a fluke succes
Why talk about this? Naughty dog has been dead since last of us 2 came out, there's no coming back from that train wreck of a game, they have no respect for characters and good writing anymore. Niel druckman needs to be fired and MAYBE they could recover and gain respect back. But as long as niel remains in control, the company is doomed
Naughty Dog became a mess ever since they promoted Druckman. Druckman is more interested in introducing trans, wokeness and politics than game development. I'd encourage anyone to watch some of his interviews, especially the one with herman hulst from guerilla. Druckman was asking gender obsessive questions rather than the game mechanics. It's their third lie in a row after the so called modernized gameplay of the last of us remake and after deceiving people by making Joel travel to Seattle in a fake trailer...
Id love to see a Day Z style game in the future too. Scavenging for food, water, parts for upgrading any weapons you find pills to give you extra skills. With letters to find that take you on a journey all over the map with maybe a weapon or item once completed, Stealth or gun blaze the infected or using the infected to focus on another player you spotted with a glass bottle or brick with the TLOU2 dodge mechanic combat would be epic knowing one mistake kills you and resets your game. Obviously thought about this too much.
The thing with Bungie advising Naughty Dog is that one of them works full time on live service titles for a decade & the other has mainly made single player games for years. Even if Naughty Dog themselves wanted this project to be this big(doubtful, I think its Sony who increased the projects scope) they would have to sacrifice a significant number of staff to be working on it permanently. I'm not sure the studio is structured to do that. I assume they are working on a new game since 2021 at the latest as well as this but I can't see them sacrificing that much staff to keep this going. That's the difference with Bungie & ND.
They just need more time it’s that simple lol I just love how everyone thinks this is bad it’s good. Take your time you know how many games are rushed now a days and launch broken
what surprises me the most are the blind fans of naughty dog and last of us that dont realize how bad this looks and demand better. its been 3+ years, there was no release date on this game or even trailer, the only thing was a concept art they showed, and they released a twitter statement and screenshot that games like cyberpunk and suicide squad released, games with trailers, gameplay, and release dates, while this has only a concept art and is getting a statement similar to a delay, that is a very very bad sign, they dont even have gameplay or trailer or screenshots to show for another few years i bet, i have a feeling this will be scrapped tho.
Maybe I'm in a minority but I really don't give a shit about this multiplayer project. Seeing the article from Jason and the post from Naughty Dog gave me relief cause seeing ND say "we have a single player project" got me more interested then ever. If this Factions mode was going ok and had been shown off as planned, I would have just not bothered. I get that a lot of people were excited for it and yeah I can agree ND has issues with communicating to fans. But, recently Neil Druckmann said they've wanted to talk more about their games closer to when they're about to launch. I am way more on board for that, I hope they just shutter the Factions mode so they can put 100% focus on what they do best, single player games. It sucks that this is happening to Factions and how ND has become super tight lipped, but honestly I'd say after TLOU Part II, they kinda wanna be as careful as they can. Not excusing it, but that's just how I see it.
Pretty sure HBO was their main concern since the conception of Last of Us 2. Thats's part of Sony's plan, get into movies and tv shows with their games.
I’m glad somebody else is covering naughty dog’s development of factions 2 and how aggravating their company’s actions have been. If it wasn’t for the original leaks, I wouldn’t believe factions 2 was ever real, because aside from the leaks, the info naughty dog has given us is equivalent to 2 tweets stating that the game is real and coming but nowhere near completed. Essentially radio silence for approaching 3 years now. And to top it off I’m learning that their parent company has stripped the dev team of most of their staff because they don’t know if the end product will be financially profitable, and that really tells me all I need to hear. That likely it’s not gonna happen, or if it does, it won’t be anything close to the formulas and systems that made the original factions a fantastic game.
And I agree Naughty Dog’s biggest problem has been their communication. Naughty Dog’s communications regarding factions 2 have boiled down to this: Naughty Dog tells the public they are releasing the project on X date, hype builds, time passes all the way through X date, no release. Naughty Dog at some point after releases a statement that says the game really needs more time, and with it sets another (less precise) X date, and time passes through the date again. Repeat. Almost 3 full years past TLOU2, no gameplay, trailers (even just concept), or footage at all, no concrete info on how the game will be structured, no definitive release date, nothing. Like 2 tweets and a single concept image. And the leaks but naughty dog never intended for those to be released.
And robingaming pointed out, pretty much all 3 statements have only been given in response to a press inquiry or backlash from fans about naughty dog’s deception. It seems like they would have had 100% radio silence had they not been pressured
I keep hearing that Naughty Dog is a terrible place to work and that they are constantly bleeding talent. I'm guessing this is the main reason why its taking so long for them to get anything out, cause their talent is fleeing & they keep having to hire new employees, which takes a massive amount of time to get the new employees up to speed. Sony needs to step in & clean house, but they probably wont. Druckmann needs to be fired, imho.
Honestly I think Naughty Dog hit their peak with The Last of Us part 1 and that was their climax. Now it's the downhill ball roll that so many other companies had happen. Bioware is a great example. They removed multiplayer from tlou2 and part 1. To make it a single game that they now abandoned. Part 3 will probably be garbage. Uncharted is done and I'm not interested in watching or playing as Drakes daughter who they clearly want to shift the story to....no thanks we already have Lara Croft. The lies and terrible communication...i don't trust Naughty Dog any more and will not blindly buy anything they make anymore like I used to. I'll wait for many reviews and a sale if it's even good. I think they are dying and most of the talent left because of cuckman
Uncharted multiplayer is probably the best multiplayer shooting game I've ever played, coming from someone who usually doesn't lie multiplayer shooting, I can play for hours without getting tired. I feel that the only big problem is what you mentioned about updates. Naughty Dog stopped updating the game very soon after release, which in my opinion was the worst thing hey could do (specially after how popular UC4 and LL were!!). However I'm happy there's still a small community that makes the game stay alive and years later I still enjoy playing it from time to time.
Given Factions 2 was literally supposed to be a part of TLOU2 and I already paid $60 for that game like 4 years ago there's an absolute 0% chance I'd ever pay for an exclusively multiplayer TLOU game, shit should be free to play if only because they claimed it was a part of the game they made that would be released later on like Rockstar did with RDR 2
Naughty dog should beg Bruce Straley to come back and can cuckman. If Straley leads a tlou3 game, it might actually be good. Not like the garbage we got with part 2.
Naughty dog should just be shut down at this point. None of the amazing devs who worked on games like Uncharted 1-4 and Last of us 1 would still be working there after all the bullshit. They probably all work for Insomniac or another prestige studio now.
I’m proud as fuck of Naughty Dog. Uncharted 4 was a masterpiece finale for one of my favorite series of all time, and The Last Of Us Part II is my favorite game of all time. It’s also one of the best sequels ever made (objectively the ballsiest too) because it nails what every sequel should/needs to have: 1. Give the audience something new 2. Identify what worked the first time, and build off of that. 3. Change the stakes 4. Play with expectations 5. Add new, complex and likable characters … And yet, it’s one of the most hated games of all time. I'm starting to think Druckmann is spending more time with HBO than he is with Naughty Dog to help them with their projects which are all in development hell
Lmao, cant wait for season 2, hole in one.
He's one of those failed tv/movie people who got a foot in the door with video games, and now he's just following his true passion. Also he's a shithead.
He's also began his work as Director on a new singleplayer project, he's kind of busy.
I'm personally thinking that everything is fine over there and some are just overreacting a bit too much about the situation.
What are you talking about? We don't know why the Factions project was put on hold (probably too story focused, and not widely appealing enough to take money from people constantly) and game development for AAA games takes longer now. There's not really a huge issue, right now.
What's sad is that most players who are waiting for that TLOU multiplayer are absolutely fine having the same multi-player experience from the original faction with the same gameplay and gunplay from TLOU2.
It's been like 4yrs! How hard could it be?!
Why Are sony starting this multiplayer bs? Does us sony fans want that? I know damn well i don’t. I love sony games because of the sheer quality that shines through the games with great stories, gameplay, acting and atmosphere#justsadreally
I propose that Niel and his team should make the tv shows and a new team should make the games because I don't recognized the studio that made Jak and Daxter or Uncharted 1-4.

@@blackmanwithcomputer They made a remake no one asked for to get money. Druckmann has ruined the company and I will boycott until they fire him
@@PassportGaming No, they made it because Sony wanted the remake. That was literally in all the reports. Fairly sure the young and ambitious Neil Druckmann that directed and was the sole credited writer on TLoU 1 which was his inital pitch from college brought to life iwas much less receptive to feedback than Neil of today.

This is the usual Naughty Dog feature creep of doing MORE and MORE on top of doing a type of game they never done before.

Although to be a success by Sony's standards, it needs to make more than double it's budget.

TLDR: I miss Amy Hennig.
I dont miss amy, her writing was trash, we need bruce straily back, seems like he was responsible for the amazing pacing of uncharted 2

Obviously thought about this too much.
Naughty dog needs change at the top
The real Naughty Dog is long gone
Not excusing it, but that's just how I see it.
gta 6 will come before factions 2
Now we want Cyberpunk launch quality as long as its fast in releases
Naughty dog need to be put down they been declining for years now.
One could say they’re treading on rotted floor boards while moving a trolley, risking falling into a game arcade with a Bloater in there?!?!
The Naught Dog we knew is long gone. We're dealing with corporate skinwalking here
2024: the ice broke and they fell…..
FACTIONS is by far the best multiplayer experience I’ve ever had. I still play it regularly 10 years later. No other game compares.
It’s also one of the best sequels ever made (objectively the ballsiest too) because it nails what every sequel should/needs to have:
1. Give the audience something new
2. Identify what worked the first time, and build off of that.
3. Change the stakes
4. Play with expectations
5. Add new, complex and likable characters
… And yet, it’s one of the most hated games of all time. And personally, it makes me proud that NaughtyDog is keeping things close to the chest with their upcoming games. You criticized them for crunch culture and now they’re trying to correct it and now everyone is complaining that they aren’t being quick enough. People need to chill out.
Such a waste. Factions was amazing. Not having factions ready for tlou2 was a big mistake.
